General Introduction

The BOYAMIC is a portable 2.4GHz wireless microphone system. It features high-performance noise cancellation, which is available for improving the recording effect in a noisy environment. It also boasts a remarkable onboard recording which is available for storing your recording files in real-time. The BOYAMIC is perfect for live streaming, vlogging, mobile journalism, and more. What's more, equipped with a low-cut filter, the wireless microphone can eliminate unwanted low-frequency noise (75Hz/150Hz or lower) in your recording.

It is possible to use BOYAMIC in many ways. You can choose to use the transmitter with the 3.5mm external microphone, your line input devices, or its built-in microphone as your needs. A 3.5mm TRS output, USB-C, and iOS Lightning adapters allow the receiver to connect with cameras, mixers, smartphones, tablets, laptops, and more. The receiver has a USB-C charging port that supports charging and powering the device while using it with the adapters.

Product Structure

Transmitter

1. Built-in Microphone Capsule:
The capsule is fabricated with a windproof diaphragm, which can minimize unwanted wind noise and handling noise, etc.
2. 3.5mm TRS Input:
For connecting 3.5mm microphones or line-in devices.
3. Recording Indicator:
Indicates recording status: Blinking red for Microphone muted, Static red for Onboard recording enabled.
4. Status Indicator:
Indicates pairing and battery status: Blinking blue slowly for Unpaired, Blinking blue rapidly for Pairing, Static blue for Paired successfully. Static blue (Mic input), Static yellow (Line input) for Noise cancellation enabled. Static green for Low battery. Blinking red for Charging. Red light off for Fully charged.
5. Power Button:
Press and hold for 2 seconds to power on or off. Press to mute or unmute the microphone. Press and hold for 5 seconds to enter the pairing state in shutdown mode.
6. Noise Cancellation Button:
Press to enable or disable the noise cancellation.
7. Record Button:
Press to enable or disable the onboard recording.
8. Magnetic Belt Clip:
For attaching the transmitter to clothing.
9. Mic/ Line Input Toggle:
Switches between microphone and line input.
10. USB-C Charging Port:
Used for charging. After connecting a laptop or smartphone, can also be used to read the recording files.
11. Charging Contacts:
For charging the transmitter.

Note: Please charge the transmitter when TX indicates low battery status, or it will automatically shut off within 10 minutes.

Receiver

1. Belt Clip:
For attaching the receiver.
2. OLED Screen:
Displays vital information.
3. Status Indicator for Channel A:
Indicates pairing status: Blinking blue slowly for Unpaired, Static blue for Paired successfully.
4. Status Indicator for Channel B:
Indicates pairing status: Blinking blue slowly for Unpaired, Static blue for Paired successfully.
5. Power Button:
Press and hold for 2 seconds to power on or off. Press to access gain or volume options.
6. M Button:
For setting values or functions in the receiver's menu.
7. 3.5mm TRS Headphones Port:
Connect headphones to monitor audio output in real-time or listen to playback.
8. 3.5mm TRS Output:
For analog audio output to a camera, mixer, or recorder.
9. Charging Contacts:
For charging the receiver.
10. USB-C Charging Port:
For charging the receiver. An external device can be powered and charged through this port while the receiver with a USB-C or iOS Lightning adapter is plugged into it.
11. MFi Certified Lightning Adapter:
Connects to iOS Lightning devices.
12. USB-C Adapter:
Connects to Android Smartphones, Tablets, Computers, and other USB-C devices.
13. Connecting Contacts:
Contacts for connecting adapters.

Charging Case

1. Charging Indicator:
Shows battery level: Low battery (percentage), Charging (percentage range), Fully charged (percentage).
2. USB-C Charging Port:
For charging the case.
3. Wireless Charging Sector:
Supports wireless charging of the case.

Receiver's Screen Operations

Home Screen Overview

From the Home screen, press the power button to access gain and output volume options for channels A or B. Press the M button to adjust the value, and press the power button again to save the setting.

Icon Descriptions:

  • Output Mode Indicator: Indicates Mono, Stereo, or Safety Track output mode.
  • Low Cut Filter Indicator: Sounds that are 75Hz (150Hz) or lower will be filtered.
  • Output Volume Indicator: Shows the receiver's output volume from 00 to 15. Default is 13.
  • Connection Indicator: Indicates that channel A/B is connected.
  • Signal Strength Indicator: Shows the wireless signal strength between transmitter and receiver.
  • Disconnection Indicator: Indicates that the current channel is disconnected.
  • Mute Indicator: Microphone is muted.
  • Noise Cancellation Indicator: Indicates the noise cancellation of the transmitter has been enabled.
  • Onboard Recording Indicator: Indicates the onboard recording of the transmitter has been enabled while the icon appears and flashes.
  • Microphone Gain Indicator: Indicates the corresponding transmitter's mic gain from -6 to +9. Default is +7.
  • Audio Input Level Indicator: Indicates current audio input level.
  • Battery Level Indicators: Upper right corner shows the receiver's battery level. Both sides show the corresponding transmitter's battery level.

Menu Introduction

From the Home screen, press the M button to access the menu page. Continue pressing the M button to turn pages until the receiver returns to the Home screen. From a menu page, press and hold the M button to access options; press it to set values or functions; press and hold it again to save settings. Press the power button to exit settings or menu pages. If no operation is performed within 20 seconds on the menu page, the display will automatically return to the Home screen.

Main Menu Options:

Output Mode:

  • Mono: Signal from the transmitter or both transmitters can be mixed together and recorded identically to the left and right tracks.
  • Stereo: Signals from each transmitter can be recorded to a separate track.
  • Safety Track: Similar to Mono mode, the audio of the right track will be recorded at -12dB in case of distortion in your recordings.

TX Mute Key:

  • Enable: The mute control of the transmitters' power button is activated.
  • Disable: The mute control of the transmitters' power button is deactivated to prevent inadvertent operation.

Auto Recording:

  • Enable: When activated, the transmitter will start recording audio as soon as it is switched on.
  • Disable: Onboard recording is disabled by default when the transmitter is switched on.

Output Volume:

00~15. The output gain level of the receiver can be reduced if the sound is distorted. The setting is retained even after the power is turned off. (Default to 13)

Low Cut:

  • 75Hz: Sounds that are 75Hz or lower will be filtered.
  • 150Hz: Sounds that are 150Hz or lower will be filtered.

Speaker:

  • Enable: Sound can be played directly without unplugging the receiver inserted into an adapter.
  • Disable: Speaker output is disabled.

Set TX Time:

Set the date and time so that all recording files will include a time-stamp when exported. On the page, press and hold the M button twice to access the setting page. Press to move the cursor; press and hold to access options; press to adjust the value; press and hold to save settings. Finally, press it to move the cursor on "SAVE", and then press and hold to confirm and exit. To exit directly, press the power button.

Format TX A&B:

After selecting Yes, the onboard recording files on the transmitters will be erased. Please use with caution. It is impossible to format the transmitters while they are recording.

Backlight:

  • 10s: The backlight will turn off if no operation occurs for 10 seconds.
  • 30s: The backlight will turn off if no operation occurs for 30 seconds.
  • 60s: The backlight will turn off if no operation occurs for 60 seconds.
  • Default setting: The backlight always stays on.

Language:

Default to English.

Reset Default:

After selecting Yes, the receiver's relevant parameters will be restored to the default factory values. (Please use with caution.)

Pair:

After selecting Yes, the receiver will enter the pairing state.

Version:

Indicates the receiver's software version.

How to Use

  1. Prepare the Transmitter: The transmitter comes with a windproof capsule. It can fit an extra fur windshield for enhanced wind protection outdoors or in windy environments. When using a 3.5mm microphone or line-in device, connect it to the transmitter's 3.5mm TRS input jack.
  2. Connect the Receiver: Push the selected adapter (iOS Lightning or USB-C) into the receiver, and then connect the receiver to your smartphone, tablet, computer, or other mobile devices. Alternatively, connect a camera or mixer to the receiver's 3.5mm TRS audio output using an adapter cable (e.g., 3.5mm TRS to 3.5mm TRS).
  3. Power On: Press and hold the power buttons for 2 seconds to turn on the transmitter(s) and receiver.
  4. Pairing: The transmitter(s) and receiver are paired by default. If they become disconnected, follow these steps: Press the receiver's M button until you reach the "Pair" menu page. Press and hold the M button, select "Yes?", and press and hold again to save settings. To make the transmitter(s) enter pairing state, press and hold its power button for 5 seconds in shutdown mode until its status indicator blinks blue rapidly. Transmitter(s) and receiver will pair within 10 seconds. The transmitter's information and status will be shown on the receiver's screen.
  5. Monitor Audio: Plug your headphones into the receiver's 3.5mm headphone port for audio monitoring as needed.
  6. Set Output Mode: Set Mono, Stereo, or Safety Track mode on the receiver's menu as required.
  7. Test Recording: It is recommended to record a sample and play it back to check if the audio level is acceptable before starting the main recording.
  8. Enable Noise Cancellation: To improve recording in noisy environments, press the NR button on the transmitter(s) to enable noise cancellation.
  9. Charge After Use: After recording, place the transmitter(s) and receiver back into the charging case for charging.

Notes:

  • If a transmitter fails to pair, turn off the paired transmitter, then reconnect the unpaired transmitter and receiver.
  • The 2.4GHz wireless frequency is widely used and susceptible to interference. Avoid obstacles like walls and buildings, and keep away from devices with 2.4GHz frequency (e.g., high-power Wi-Fi antennas, radios).

Onboard Recording

Press the transmitter's REC button to enable onboard recording, or activate "Auto Recording" mode so the transmitter starts recording automatically when switched on.

  • The 8GB memory can store up to 15 hours of recording at 48kHz/ 24bit sampling rate.
  • The file is automatically split after 30 minutes of recording for easier segment finding.
  • Recording files are named in the format "DATE-TIME.WAV". Up to 999 files can be created.
  • If the 8GB memory is full, the oldest file will be automatically overwritten by the latest file.

Hints:

  • In this mode, the "mute" function does not affect onboard recording.
  • Recording files cannot be read while onboard recording is active.
  • Onboard recording is automatically disabled when the transmitter is placed in the charging case.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter problems, refer to this checklist before contacting technical support. If the problem persists, contact the dealer's after-sales service department.

No Sound or No Output:

  • Ensure the receiver or adapter is well connected to your device. Remove the adapter and wipe charging contacts with a clean cloth.
  • Check that mic gain or output volume is not set to minimum.
  • Verify the unit is not muted.

Low/Loud/Distorted Sound:

  • Adjust mic gain and output volume to a suitable level for the current environment.
  • Enable noise cancellation in noisy environments for better recording.

Current Noise or Abnormal Noise:

  • Ensure there is no interference near the unit. If noise persists after repositioning, contact customer service.

Limited Operating Range / Intermittent Sound:

  • Ensure no interference between the transmitter(s) and receiver. If intermittent sound persists, contact customer service.

Receiver with Adapter Cannot Playback Output:

  • Make sure your phone's speaker is disabled in the receiver's menu.

Howling Noise Occurs:

  • Make sure your phone's speaker is disabled in the receiver's menu.

Failed to Charge via Charging Case:

  • Ensure charging contacts are making full contact. Wipe contacts with a clean cloth and try again.
  • Check magnetic force and contact sufficiency by pressing the transmitter/receiver in the case. If charging still fails, contact customer service.
