Kidde Wire-Free Alarm Network Setup

Section 1: Quick Start Wire-Free Network Setup

1. Power Up All Devices

Locate the red wheel on the back of each device. Turn the red wheel to the "ON" position on ALL devices. This can be done using the included activation tool or a standard screwdriver. Once powered, the light rings on the devices will glow red.

2. Pick One Device

Press and hold the button on only ONE device until you hear 2 beeps. Release the button. You will then hear the device announce, "Searching for other devices." The light ring on this device will pulse green, and it will emit a continuous "sonar" ping until step 4 is completed. This device is designated as the "Coordinator" of the network. Keep this unit separated from other devices during this process.

3. Relax and Wait

Wait until all devices have successfully connected to the network. Once connected, each device will announce, "Success now connected!" The lights on all connected devices will glow green. The devices that are not the Coordinator are referred to as "RFDs" (Remote Function Devices).

4. Pick One Device

Press and hold the button on only ONE device until you hear 2 beeps. Release the button. The "Sonar" ping will stop. The device will announce that the setup is complete and state the number of connected devices.

5. Setup Complete!

If all devices flash green and the "sonar" ping has stopped, the devices are now connected. Congratulations! For optimal performance, install the Coordinator unit in a central location within the home. Refer to the user guide for more detailed installation instructions.

Section 2: Adding a Device to an Existing Network

1. Power Up New Device

Locate the red wheel on the back of the device you wish to add to the network. Using the activation tool or a standard screwdriver, turn the red wheel to the "on" position. Once powered, the light ring on the new device will glow red.

2. Pick One Installed Device

Press and hold the button on only ONE INSTALLED device on your network until you hear 2 beeps. Release the button. You will hear the device announce, "Searching for other devices." The light ring will pulse green, and the device will emit a continuous "sonar" ping until step 4 is completed.

3. Relax and Wait

Wait until the new device has successfully connected to the network. Once connected, the new device will announce, "Success now connected!" The light ring on the new device will glow green.

4. Pick the Installed Device

Press and hold the button on the INSTALLED device for 5 SECONDS until you hear 2 beeps. Release the button. The "Sonar" ping will stop. The device will announce that setup is complete and state the number of connected devices.

Section 3: Resetting Your Device

If you encounter an issue at any point during the wire-free network setup process, you may reset the device by following these directions.

1. Resetting the Device

Press and hold the button on the device for 8-9 seconds until you hear 3 beeps. Release the button. You will hear the device announce, "Resetting wireless settings."

2. Resetting the Device

The light ring will flash green once and then pulse red. You will hear the device announce, "Ready to connect, follow Quick Start instructions!" The device has now been reset.
