User Interface

The display shows various information:

  • 1. Audio format: Displays the current audio format (e.g., MQA).
  • 2. Output interface: Indicates active output interfaces. If blank, both interfaces are outputting simultaneously.
  • 3. Output phase mark: Shows the output phase. A wavy line indicates Normal phase, and an inverted wavy line indicates Inverted phase.

  • 5. Sampling rate: Displays the sampling rate. When using Bluetooth input, it shows the decoding format (SBC, AAC, APTX, APTX HD, LDAC).

About MQA

MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) is an award-winning British technology that delivers the sound of the original master recording. The master MQA file is fully authenticated and is small enough to stream or download. The DO200 includes MQA technology, enabling playback of MQA audio files and streams, delivering the sound of the original master recording.

For more information, visit: https://www.mqa.co.uk/how-it-works

MQA Files Playback

  • The DO200 supports MQA decoding via USB, optical, coaxial, and AES interfaces.
  • MQA playback does not require additional software. Users can utilize software like foobar2000 or Audirvana with ASIO or WASAPI audio output for MQA playback. It is recommended to set the computer's volume to maximum for the best audio output when playing MQA audio.
  • The LED next to the MQA logo on the DO200 glows green or blue to indicate MQA decoding and playback. Green or blue indicates provenance, ensuring the sound is identical to the source material. Blue specifically indicates playback of an MQA Studio file, which has been approved in the studio by the artist/producer or verified by the copyright owner.
  • When playing an MQA file, the sampling rate of the original master recording is displayed.

PCM FILTER

  • Fast Linear
  • Slow minimum
  • Minimum Phase

SPDIF Mode

This setting is only valid for optical/coaxial and AES interfaces using the SPDIF protocol.

  • NORMAL MODE: Uses only the digital receiver chip (DIR) to process the SPDIF signal. Supports MQA renderer and DoP playback. Due to limitations of the ES9068AS chip, it may not display DoP status or only display 176.4kHz input. This is normal; the unit will still decode DoP and output normal audio.
  • PROCESSOR MODE: Utilizes the XMOS processor to process optical/coaxial signals, providing more processing power for complex tasks including MQA and DoP. In this mode, the DSD icon will be displayed correctly when playing DoP audio.

Note: Avoid switching this mode frequently. It is recommended to restart the machine after switching modes to prevent potential output noise.

A frequency response graph is displayed, illustrating the 'Slow minimum', 'Fast Linear', and 'Minimum Phase' filter settings.

Sound Color

There are 9 sound color settings available in the DO200:

  • Rich1, Rich2, Rich3
  • Tube1, Tube2, Tube3
  • Crystal1, Crystal2, Crystal3

These settings utilize the ES9068AS DSP to create different sound colors. They do not alter the frequency response curve. When set to "Standard", this feature is bypassed.

PRE MODE

Controls volume management:

  • Vol Fixed: Volume is fixed at the maximum output level, and the DO200 ignores volume operations.
  • Vol Variable: Volume can be adjusted, allowing the DO200 to function as a pre-amplifier.

FN KEY FOR

The FN key can be configured for the following functions:

  • Switch XLR/RCA
  • ALL Outputs
  • Bluetooth
  • Switch Phase

DPLL

Settings range from MIN to MAX (15 kinds available, default is 5 kinds). A higher number increases the range for adapting to jitter, while a lower number improves performance against clock jitter.

This DPLL setting is a special function of ESS series products. It adjusts the internal DPLL digital phase-locked loop circuit bandwidth to balance anti-clock jitter and input tolerance.

Functionality:

  • When input signal clock stability is good, this value can be reduced for better system clock performance.
  • When input signal clock stability is poor, the sound may be interrupted. Increasing this value can prevent sound interruption, especially when using TV as a signal source.

I2S Mode

This option matches different I2S interface standards. Please check the interface definition of the signal source before use.

  • NORMAL: Standard I2S pinout.
  • INVERTED: Inverted I2S pinout.

Diagrams showing the pin assignments for NORMAL and INVERTED I2S modes are provided.

DSD Channel

This setting is used to correct channel mapping when using I2S input for DSD audio.

  • DSDL=PCM DATA: The DSD left channel uses the PCM DATA pin.
  • DSDL=PCM LRCK: The DSD left channel uses the PCM LRCK pin.

Diagrams illustrating the pin assignments for DSDL=PCM DATA and DSDL=PCM LRCK are provided.

Note: When using the I2S input to stream DSD audio, if the left and right channels are incorrect, use this option to correct it.

DSD FLAG

This setting determines the DSD FLAG pin assignment.

  • DSD FLAG=PIN15
  • DSD FLAG=PIN14

Diagrams showing the pin assignments for DSD FLAG=PIN15 and DSD FLAG=PIN14 are provided.

DIMMER

Adjusts the display's auto-off timer.

  • Range: 5 seconds ~ 60 seconds.

After setting, the screen will automatically turn off within this time. The screen will re-light if the remote control or knob is operated at any time.

BRIGHTNESS

Adjusts the display brightness.

  • Level 1 ~ Level 6

RESET

Resets the unit's settings.

  • During Bluetooth input: Long press the middle button of the knob to reset only the Bluetooth pairing status.
  • During other inputs: Long press the middle button of the knob to clear all settings, including Bluetooth.
