Your guide to the Flow HubTV service.

What is the New HubTV?

The new HubTV is a state-of-the-art service offering high-definition television. It features a new programming guide, content search and recommendations based on your viewing history, and applications accessible directly from your television. You can access these features using the new remote control, designed for modern ease-of-use with voice control and RF technology, allowing operation even without direct line of sight to the HubTV unit.

(Note: User interface screenshots may display Spanish text such as "TV EN VIVO", "MIS PROGRAMAS", "QUÉ VER", "GUÍA", "APPS Y JUEGOS", "ON DEMAND", "BUSC".)

All HubTV functions are accessible via the Main Menu, which appears when you press the [Home button] on your remote control. Navigate menu options using the [Left/Right arrows] on the remote. Pressing [OK button] on a selected option takes you to its corresponding sub-menu. Press the [Back button] to exit the Main Menu.

  • My Shows: Displays a list of your videos and recordings, including TV recordings, VOD shows, and streams from apps like Netflix and HBO Go.
  • What to Watch: Browse available shows to stream, watch live, or schedule recordings across various popular categories.

The SmartBar, appearing on the Home screen, offers personalized show recommendations based on your preferences and viewing habits at a specific time or day. Use the navigation buttons on your remote to move to the SmartBar, select a program, and choose where to watch it.

Video Window & Wallpaper

The video you were watching when you entered the Home screen will continue to play as the wallpaper on most HubTV menu screens. You can also configure a video window in the upper right corner to display the current video. To view the video in full screen, press the [Back button] on your remote. You can customize how videos are displayed on the Home screen or disable them entirely by selecting the [Menu icon], then navigating to User Preferences > Video Window and Wallpaper, and setting 'Show Video Window' to Off.

When 'Show Video Window' is set to 'Yes', wallpaper options include:

  • Full screen (background): The currently playing video is displayed as the full screen background.
  • Top right screen: The currently playing video is displayed in the top right corner of the Home screen.

Live TV

When watching a program as it airs, you are viewing Live TV. Select 'Live TV' from the Home screen to begin. As you change channels, a status bar at the bottom of the screen displays information such as program title, airtime, channel, HD status, and upcoming program details. An on-screen hint will prompt you to press and hold [OK button] to start from the beginning when restarting or catching up is available.

TrickPlay™

HubTV allows you to control video playback with TrickPlay™:

  • Press the [OK button] on your remote to pause Live TV.
  • Press [OK button] again to resume playback.
  • When paused, a TrickPlay Bar appears, showing the time period. The green segment indicates the portion of time saved by your HubTV.
  • Thick white lines mark your current playback position. When the white line returns to the green segment, you are "Before" Live TV.
  • You can rewind and fast forward up to three times at three different speeds.
  • Press [OK button] to resume normal speed playback.

My Shows

The 'My Shows' section contains all your recordings and applications, such as Netflix. Access this list by selecting 'My Shows' from the Home screen. By default, content is sorted by date, with newly added or recorded items appearing first. You can also sort by name (alphabetically) using on-screen options. Your HubTV remembers your position within 'My Shows' upon exiting, returning you to where you left off.

My Shows Filters

Filters in the left column of 'My Shows' allow you to quickly narrow your choices. Your list updates automatically based on the selected filter. Available filters include TV Series, Movies, Kids, and more.

Programs and Movies

The main 'My Shows' area displays all your OnePass selections and individual recordings.

TV Series & Movies

Within the 'My Shows' list, icons next to series titles indicate where new episodes and recordings can be found. Navigate the list using the [Up/Down/Left/Right] buttons on your remote. Select a show and press [OK button] to go to its main screen. The left column of the show's screen offers options to watch or browse. The displayed list shows episodes included in your OnePass. For example, if your OnePass includes recordings from season 5, those episodes will appear in your watched list.

The series screen also allows searching for recordings, all episodes, or upcoming episodes, viewing cast information, and managing OnePass options. Icons next to episode titles indicate if they are recordings, partial recordings, scheduled for deletion/upcoming, or available from streaming providers.

For more episode information, select the [Info icon] to access the episode screen for viewing options and details. To delete an episode, select the [Delete icon].

Icons Included in My Shows

  • Recorded Shows: A blue dot indicates a recorded show.
  • Partially Engraved: A blue circle indicates a partial recording, which will be recorded as part of a OnePass™ search.
  • Broadcast Shows: A grey dot indicates a broadcast show.
  • The recording will be deleted or expire in 72 hours: An orange dot indicates a recording that can be deleted to make room for other recordings or has a limited retention period.

Movies can be found under the 'Movies' filter, or all shows under 'My Shows'. Select a movie title to go to its screen for options, or simply press [Play button].

Top-level categories include Live TV, TV Shows, Sports, Movies, and more. Each category contains specific subcategories to help you find content by type or genre. For example, under 'Movies', select 'More Movies' to view subcategories.

(Visuals show examples of selecting sub-categories.)

When a program is highlighted, shows currently recording are indicated by a [red circle icon], while scheduled recordings have a [check mark] (for single shows) or a [double check mark] (for OnePass recordings).

You can choose to view all channels or only your favorite channels. Select a channel name/number (not a program) and press [OK button]. Then use the 'Channels' option to select a channel list:

  • Press [Select button] on a program in progress to switch to that program.

  • Pressing the [Up arrow] shows upcoming programs on Live TV with a mini guide. Press [Back button] to close this panel.
  • Pressing the [Down arrow] displays the Start menu and SmartBar, providing quick access to regularly watched programs by time of day and day of the week.

These providers appear in your Video Provider List and are automatically included in searches and menu navigation. If you did not select apps during setup, or skipped that step, you can add them manually. You can also add other apps, games, and Google Play content for direct access.

Select a Google Play tile (e.g., Google Play Games, Google Play Music) or go to the Google Play Store and sign in with your Gmail username and password.

Search

Search by show title, episode title, show description, or person's name (actor, director, etc.). The HubTV service searches upcoming TV shows, movies, streaming videos (from sources like Netflix, HBO Go, ESPN), and On Demand content simultaneously. You can also search for specific channels by network name or call sign (e.g., FX or ESPN).

Voice Search

  1. While in any HubTV menu or watching TV, press the [Google Assistant button] on the remote control.
  2. Speak naturally into the remote. Mention a title or actor to see results displayed at the top of the menus.
  3. You can also open applications like Netflix and YouTube, and navigate to sections like Home and What to Watch.

Manual Search

  2. Use the on-screen letter grid to spell your search query. Use the [arrow buttons] to move and press [OK button] on each letter. Possible matches appear on the right, sorted by popularity. For example, searching "HOW" might yield results for "How I Met Your Mother," the movie "How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days," and director Ron Howard.
  3. Continue selecting letters until your desired result appears. Use [Rewind button] to delete letters or [Fast Forward button] to insert a space.
  4. Use the [Right arrow] to highlight a program or person's name.
  5. Press [OK button] to view details, set up a recording or OnePass, or mark the program.

Menu and Notifications Search

To manage recordings, OnePass searches, and control settings, select the [Menu icon]. Here you can customize options including OnePass settings, parental control settings, and user preferences. To view notifications, swipe left to select the [Envelope icon].

OnePass™

A OnePass search gathers every available episode of a series (live stream or OnDemand), every game or match of a specific team, or every sporting event in a league, adding them directly to your 'My Shows' list for instant viewing. If an episode is unavailable on TV or VOD, OnePass fills the gap with episodes from video apps like Netflix and HBO Go. HubTV manages show schedules, allowing you to start watching programs immediately. For sports, OnePass searches find matches by full team or league name, location, nickname, or abbreviation.

To create a OnePass, find a series or show in the guide, press and hold the [OK button] for a few seconds, select 'Create a OnePass for this series', modify options, and press 'Create OnePass with these options'. The series and all available episodes will be added to 'My Shows'. OnePass functions best with an up-to-date list of selected video applications.

OnePass™ Search Options

When creating a OnePass, you can choose options for specific results and change settings for existing OnePasses in the OnePass Manager.

  • Include: Choose to include recordings, videos (from sources like Netflix), or both in the OnePass results.
  • Start From: Select 'Season 1' to watch from the beginning, choose a different season to catch up, or select 'New episodes only' for the latest installments.

OnePass™ Options

  • Rent or Buy: Decide whether to include episodes requiring purchase, with the option to buy them at the time of viewing.
  • If your OnePass includes recordings, the following options are available:
    • Record: Choose 'New only' to avoid replays, or 'New and Replays' to watch all.
    • Channel: Select the channel for recording if multiple options are available.
    • Video Quality: Set preferences for receiving HD versions of programs (always, never, or if possible). If an HD version is not available, or if SD Only is selected and only HD is available, the program may not be recorded.
    • Keep as Maximum: Set the maximum number of recordings to save.
    • Choose how long to keep a recording (or each episode of a repeat recording). The default is space required, or 'Whenever Possible' to prevent deletion for new recordings. Note that shows will be automatically deleted when they expire regardless of this setting.
    • Start Recording: Begin recording up to ten minutes before a program starts (available before recording begins).
    • Stop Recording: Adjust when recording stops, whether at the scheduled end time, a few minutes after, or hours later. This setting can be changed during setup or while recording is in progress.

Manage

The 'to-do list' in your OnePass box shows scheduled recordings and allows changes or cancellations. The OnePass Manager displays all your OnePasses and lets you modify their options.

Task List & OnePass Administration

The 'Task List' displays all programmed recordings and allows you to change recording options or cancel recordings. Access it via Menu > Settings > Task List. It shows an alphabetical list of programs scheduled for the next two weeks. Press [OK button] on any program for available options.

OnePass searches are sorted by programming order. Access 'OnePass Administration' via Menu > Settings > OnePass Administration. Use this list to change OnePass options, modify recording options, view upcoming episodes, or cancel OnePass. Highlight a program title and press [OK button] to view.

Individual Video Search

Searching for movies or individual episodes provides results from selected video apps without needing to switch entries. Available apps are displayed in the right column of the search screen or on the Series, Movie, or Episode screen. You can view your streaming options there.

To save a program for later viewing without searching again, bookmark it to add a link directly to 'My Shows'. Currently available streaming movies appear in the 'Movies' filter or 'Streaming Movies' group. Available TV shows are added to the 'TV Series' category. If a streaming video is not currently available from your providers, it's added to the 'Currently Not Available' group and will be added to 'My Shows' when it becomes available.
