Wireless N300 Universal Range Extender
Model: A9
Device Indicators and Buttons
LED Indicator
- Red: Solid: Device is starting. Blinking Slowly: Negotiating with router/AP, detecting signal. Blinking Quickly: Performing WPS negotiation.
- Green: Solid: Extended successfully, strong WiFi signal.
- Orange: Solid: Extended successfully, poor WiFi signal. Blinking: Extended successfully, very poor WiFi signal.
RST Button
- Press and hold for approximately 8 seconds to restore factory settings.
- Press and hold, then press the WPS button on a router/AP within 2 minutes to establish a WPS connection.
Option 1: Use Web Browser to Extend Your WiFi
- Plug the extender (A9) into an electrical outlet near your wireless router. The LED indicator will turn solid red, then blink to indicate a successful start.
- Use your computer to connect to the extender's WiFi. The default WiFi name (SSID) is "Tenda_XXXXXX", found on the product label on the extender's back panel.
- Launch a web browser, type the default login domain name `re.tenda.cn` or IP address `192.168.0.254` into the address bar, and press Enter on the keyboard.
- Select the WiFi name (SSID) you want to extend and click "Next".
- Enter the WiFi password for the selected WiFi name (if any) and click "Finish".
- The device will perform the extending process. Wait for a moment.
- A "Extended Successfully!" message will appear. The extender's WiFi name is now "Tenda_666666". Please connect again.
- Enjoy your WiFi! The extender's WiFi name and password are the same as those of your router.
Tips: If you don't want to set up the extender's WiFi name and password to be the same as those of the selected WiFi name, uncheck the option "Set up the extender's WiFi name and password to the same as those of the Base Station" before clicking Finish.
Option 2: Use WPS Button to Extend Your WiFi
- Plug the extender (A9) into an electrical outlet near your wireless router (with WPS enabled). The LED indicator on the extender will turn solid red, then blink.
- Press the WPS button on your router, and then (within 2 minutes) press the WPS button on the extender.
- When the LED indicator turns solid green, it indicates that a successful WPS connection has been established.
- Relocate the extender to another electrical outlet. Observe the LED indicator on the extender to choose an optimum extended location for best WiFi performance.
- Enjoy your WiFi! The extender's WiFi name and password are the same as those of your router.
Optimizing Extended Location
Relocate the extender to other electrical outlets. Observe the LED indicator on the extender to choose an optimum extended location for best WiFi performance.
Signal Strength Indicator:
- Poor Signal: Blinking Orange
- Weak Signal: Solid Orange
- Good Signal: Solid Green
Recommended extending location: Keep moving the extender to outlets closer to the router until the LED indicator lights solid green.
Tips:
- You can also log in to the extender's web UI to check the WiFi signal strength (40%-79% is the optimum extending location).
- Keep the extender away from Bluetooth devices, microwave, refrigerator, etc., to minimize signal interference.
Antenna Positioning
Position the antennas as shown in the figure below for best WiFi performance. FAQ
Q1: I cannot log in to the extender's User Interface, what should I do?
Before extending:
- Use your computer to connect to the WiFi name (SSID) on the label of the extender's back panel.
- Launch a web browser, type `192.168.0.254` or `re.tenda.cn` into the address bar, and press Enter on the keyboard.
After extending:
- Use your computer to connect to the extended WiFi name (if you customize the WiFi name of the extender, connect that).
- Launch a web browser, type `re.tenda.cn` into the address bar, and press Enter on the keyboard.
Q2: What should I do if my router has no WPS button?
A2: Follow Option 1: Use Web Browser to Extend Your WiFi to set up the extender.
