- Install an alarm above stairways and on every floor of the house.
- Smoke and heat spread horizontally towards the ceiling. Install the alarm in the center of the ceiling.

- For rooms or hallways longer than 30 feet (approx. 9 meters), install multiple alarms.
- If the wall or ceiling is sloped, install the alarm at least 500mm from the highest point of the wall or ceiling. (See Figure 2).

Test Your Alarm
Test the unit to ensure proper operation by pressing the cover. The alarm will sound if the unit is working correctly. If no sound is heard, refer to the "Trouble Shooting" section for a solution.
CAUTION:
- DO NOT test your alarm using an open flame. This may damage the smoke alarm or ignite combustible materials, potentially causing a fire.
- DO NOT stand close to the alarm when it is sounding. Close exposure may be harmful to your hearing; maintain a safe distance during testing.
- Perform a weekly test of this smoke alarm.
LED Indicators
- Normal Status: GREEN LED flashes once every 60 seconds.
- Test Status: Red LED flashes once every second.
- Hush/Silence Mode: Red LED flashes once every 8 seconds.
- Low Battery Status: Red LED flashes once every 60 seconds and emits 1 beep every 60 seconds.
- Fault Status: The alarm will deliver beeps every 40 seconds.
Silence Mode
When the unit is alarming, pressing the test button will pause the alarm for approximately 10 minutes. The red LED will flash once every 8 seconds to indicate silence mode. This feature should only be used for known alarm conditions, such as smoke from cooking. The alarm will automatically reset after approximately 10 minutes. If combustion particles are still present, the alarm will sound again.
CAUTION: Before using silence mode, identify the source of the smoke and ensure a safe condition exists. ⚠️
Maintenance and Cleaning
Follow these simple steps to ensure proper function:
- Test the alarm once a week.
- Do not paint the alarm. Paint can seal the vents and interfere with the sensor's ability to detect smoke.
- Never attempt to disassemble the alarm for internal cleaning, as this will damage the unit.
- Clean the alarm at least once a month to remove dust, dirt, or debris. Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush to clean all sides and covers.
If a defective battery or other failures occur, refer to the "Trouble Shooting" section. If failures persist during the warranty period, return the unit to your retailer.
