Display Features

The air cleaner display features LED indicators and a POWER/RESET button. The LED and PRE-FILTER lights show the operating status and indicate when to clean the Pre-Filter or Collection Cells. The LED display is also used in SET-UP mode.

LED Indicators:

Figure 2: Display Panel shows the POWER, PRE-FILTER, and RESET buttons, along with LED indicators.

Sequence of Operation

Pressing the POWER button turns on the air cleaner. The POWER and RESET buttons illuminate, and the first green LED indicates power. When the indoor fan operates, this LED flashes slowly, signifying the Field Charger and Collection Cells have power and the unit is running normally. There is a slight delay between the indoor fan starting and the LED flashing.

Note: A 10 [12] minute delay occurs after the indoor fan starts before the air cleaner operates, each time power is cycled.

The air filtration system operates most effectively when the fan runs continuously. Most thermostats offer a continuous fan setting. In humid climates, using the fan in AUTO mode is recommended if indoor air exceeds 60% relative humidity.

During normal operation, a slight sound may be audible as air passes through the unit. This sound can be minimized by adjusting the Field Charger power setting in SET-UP mode (see pages 9-10).

Maintenance

WARNING: RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK: Servicing should only be performed by qualified personnel. Do not perform any servicing not detailed in this guide unless qualified.

CAUTION: Before cleaning air handler coils or ducts, remove the Collection Cells, Field Charger, and Pre-Filter. Chemicals used in cleaning can damage air cleaner components and reduce performance.

For maximum efficiency, inspect and clean the Collection Cells and Pre-Filter as recommended. The Field Charger should be removed and cleaned annually by a qualified service professional.

Cleaning Instructions

The air cleaner uses a PRE-FILTER to capture large particles before they enter the COLLECTION CELLS, enhancing their efficiency.

  1. Turn off the air conditioning system at the Comfort Control (thermostat).
  2. WARNING: High Voltage Present: Before removing the Power Door, turn off power and wait at least 15 seconds for voltage to discharge. Failure to follow may result in death or serious injury.
  3. Turn off the air cleaner by pressing and holding the POWER button for three seconds. LEDs will remain on until voltage discharges (approx. 15 seconds). Do not remove the door until all lights are off.
  4. Disconnect the power/control cable.
  5. Pull the door by its handles to remove it and place it securely.
  6. Remove the PRE-FILTER (Figure 4) and/or COLLECTION CELLS (Figure 5) from the air cleaner.

CAUTION: Handle the door only by the designated handles (Figure 3). Avoid handling the metal edges, which may be sharp and cause injury.

Figure 3: Power Cable Connection shows where to disconnect the 24 Volt Power / Control Cable.

Figure 4 shows the PRE-FILTER. Figure 5 shows a COLLECTION CELL.

Vacuum Cleaning

Vacuuming is the preferred method for cleaning the PRE-FILTER and COLLECTION CELLS. It is recommended to vacuum them outside the home to prevent reintroducing particles. Individuals sensitive to collected particles should wear respiratory protection.

PRE-FILTER Cleaning

The red "PRE-FILTER" light (Figure 6) illuminates when it's time to clean the PRE-FILTER.

The air cleaner is factory set to notify you to clean the PRE-FILTER every two months [10 weeks] of run time. This interval can be adjusted by the installer/homeowner to 1, 2, or 3 months [5, 10, or 15 weeks] based on home conditions (pets, smokers, etc.). Refer to "SET-UP MODE" (Page 9) for adjustments.

Vacuuming Procedure (Figure 7): Use a vacuum hose and vacuum in even strokes across the length of the PRE-FILTER. After cleaning in one direction, repeat the process using even strokes in the opposite direction.

Note: Do not replace the plastic PRE-FILTER with a metal type, as this can reduce efficiency and potentially damage the unit's electronics.

COLLECTION CELLS Cleaning

The clean/dirty LED light bar indicates system status. Lights progress from green to yellow to red. When the last red indicator flashes, it's time to clean the COLLECTION CELLS (Figure 6).

The air cleaner is factory set to notify you to clean the COLLECTION CELLS every six months [31 weeks] of run time. This interval can be changed to 2, 4, 6, or 9 months [10, 20, 31, or 46 weeks]. Refer to "SET-UP MODE" (Page 9) for adjustments.

Vacuuming Procedure (Figure 8): Vacuum the COLLECTION CELL surface in even strokes in one direction, then repeat in the opposite direction. Turn the COLLECTION CELL over and repeat the process on the other side.

Note: Collection Cells may discolor during operation; vacuuming restores efficiency but not original color.

Replacing the Pre-Filter and Collection Cells

  1. Replace the PRE-FILTER into the air cleaner, ensuring the "AIRFLOW indicator arrow" points in the same direction as the arrow on the cabinet (Figure 9).
  2. Reinstall the COLLECTION CELLS, ensuring their handles are folded flat (Figure 10).
  3. Replace the power door onto the air cleaner by aligning it with the cabinet (Figure 11) and gently placing it (Figure 12). Push until the latch locks (Figure 13).

Ensure the power cord is plugged in (Figure 14) and press the POWER button to turn on the air cleaner.

Note: The first LED will illuminate and flash after 10 [12] minutes of fan operation, which is normal.

Alternate Cleaning Option: Washing Collection Cells

For specific models (marked "200/200-1" on the frame, Figure 15), Collection Cells can be washed if they become heavily soiled (e.g., by tobacco smoke).

CAUTION: Washing Collection Cells without the "200/200-1" mark can degrade the system and cause property damage.

Washing Procedure:

After washing, drain excess water and gently tap the cells on a flat surface to dislodge droplets (Figure 16). Wipe down surfaces. Reinstall once dry, ensuring handles are folded flat (Figure 17).

Operation Modes

The air cleaner operates in either a 24 V mode or a communicating mode. The amber light on the unit (Figure 14) indicates the mode: a steady amber light signifies 24 V mode, while a blinking amber light indicates communicating mode. No light means the unit is not connected.

Resetting Timers

Filter timers can be reset via the Comfort Control or the air cleaner unit.

If two air cleaners are connected, reset all timers on both units simultaneously. The comfort control will only recognize one timer, so synchronizing them ensures consistent cleaning schedules.

SET-UP MODE

Customize your air cleaner's operation using the SET-UP mode. Ensure your Comfort Control is in "Auto Detect" mode.

Entering SET-UP Mode: Press and hold BOTH the POWER and RESET buttons for at least 5 [6] seconds. The LED display will show current settings.

Factory Settings (Figure 18): Shows default settings for Field Charger Power, Collection Cell interval (6 Months [31 weeks]), and Pre-Filter interval (2 Months [10 weeks]).

Changing Settings:

To save changes and exit, press and hold BOTH the POWER and RESET buttons for 5 [6] seconds.

Fault Indicators

In communicating systems, faults are reported to the comfort control. Consult the Alert Code Addendum for details.

The air cleaner self-monitors. If a problem is detected, three of the four YELLOW LED lights will flash continuously (Figure 22).

Other faults cause all three RED LED lights to flash continuously (Figure 23). The unit will shut down but is not a safety risk. Contact a qualified service technician.

WARNING: High Voltage: Before resolving faults, turn off power and wait 15 seconds for discharge.

Fault Resolution:

  1. Turn off power by holding the POWER button for three seconds. Wait for LEDs to extinguish.
  2. Clean both the PRE-FILTER and COLLECTION CELLS to ensure no large material is trapped, which might cause a fault. Refer to pages 4-9 for cleaning instructions.

Note: If collection cells are wet, a fault may be indicated. Turn off the unit until they are completely dry.

System Information

This product complies with the maximum allowable ozone concentration of 0.050 ppmv in 24 hours. Health Canada Guideline 2010 recommends a maximum exposure limit of 0.020 ppmv over 8 hours.

CAUTION: Before cleaning coils or ducts, remove all air cleaner components. Chemicals can damage the unit.

CAUTION: Do not install the air cleaner where it can be exposed to UV light, as this can deteriorate plastic components.
