Testing is conducted using the same protocol as new production transmissions to ensure 'like-new' operation, reliability, and durability.

Benefits

For the shop...

Satisfied Customers /// Reduced Troubleshooting and Installation Times /// Quicker Bay Turns /// Peace of Mind - Reduced Rework or Returns

  1. Disassembly: ZF factory-trained technicians disassemble transmissions and dispose of all gaskets, seals, bands, and other damaged or questionable parts.
  2. Inspection: Parts from the washing cycle are inspected and measured to ensure they are within the proper tolerances. Parts that fail are discarded and replaced with new, Genuine ZF Parts.
  3. Final Assembly: Factory-trained technicians assemble the unit and sub-assemblies with the utmost of care. All torque values are maintained and monitored by ISO 9002 and TS 16949 approved processes.

For the customer...

Like-new Shift Performance and Comfort /// Longer Service Life /// Greater reliability /// Increased Vehicle Residual Value /// 2-year, Unlimited Mileage Warranty

  1. Washing: All parts are degreased and cleaned in high-pressure washers until they are dirt-free. All wastewater is captured in a closed-loop cleaning system and does not enter the environment.
  2. Factory Updates: Every ZF reman transmission is updated to include all technical updates from the original manufacturing factory, increasing the life and performance of the transmission.
  3. Testing: Every reman transmission is dyno-tested under dynamic loads with specific, model-based shift programs.

ZF Transmission ID Charts

ZF transmissions are identified by a catalog number (spec or engineering number). Early production 6HP models use a riveted plate, while later models feature a raised stamped pad. Catalog numbers provide precise information for identifying correct parts. Always have the catalog number available when ordering parts or requesting assistance.

Figure 1 illustrates the identification details for 4HP/5HP transmissions, showing serial number, catalog number, transmission type, and customer-specific information.

Figure 2 illustrates the identification details for 6HP/8HP transmissions, showing serial number, catalog number, transmission type, customer-specific information, transmission part number, OE control module hardware number, letter code, serial number, and OE part number.

Transmission Oil Recommendations

ZF-LifeguardFluid: Maximum Performance for ZF Transmissions

ZF LifeguardFluid products are heavy-duty oils developed exclusively for ZF automatic car transmissions, specifically for 5-speed, 6-speed, and 8-speed models. Subjected to extreme testing, these fluids guarantee maximum performance and minimize wear on heavily loaded components, ensuring a long service life for remanufactured products.
