WARNING: You can be killed or seriously injured if you don't follow instructions.
Important Safety Instructions
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, follow basic precautions:
- Read all instructions before using.
- Do not wash articles cleaned with flammable or explosive substances (gasoline, dry-cleaning solvents).
- Do not add flammable or explosive substances to wash water.
- Be aware of potential hydrogen gas buildup in hot water systems unused for 2 weeks or more. If applicable, run hot water faucets for several minutes before use. Do not smoke or use open flame during this time.
- Do not allow children to play on or in the appliance. Close supervision is necessary.
- Remove the door before discarding the appliance.
- Do not reach into the appliance if the tub or agitator is moving.
- Do not install or store where exposed to weather.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Certain internal parts are not grounded and may present an electric shock risk during servicing. Service Personnel: Do not contact the thermostat bracket while the appliance is energized.
Choosing Right Detergent
Use only High Efficiency (HE) detergents marked "HE". Non-HE detergents can cause excessive sudsing, longer cycles, reduced rinsing, and potential component malfunction or mold/mildew buildup. HE detergents should be low-sudsing and quick-dispersing. Follow manufacturer's instructions for amount; do not exceed the Max Line on the dispenser.
Washer Maintenance and Care
Water Inlet Hoses
Replace inlet hoses after 5 years to reduce failure risk. Inspect periodically for bulges, kinks, cuts, wear, or leaks. When replacing:
- Mark the replacement date.
- Check that old washers are not stuck on inlet valves.
- Use new washers for a proper seal.
Note: Inlet hoses may not be supplied. Refer to Installation Instructions.
Washer Care
Recommendations for a clean washer and optimal performance:
- Always use HE detergents and follow HE manufacturer's instructions for amount. Using too much can increase residue buildup and odor.
- Use warm and hot water settings sometimes (not exclusively cold) to better control soil and detergent buildup.
- Always leave the washer lid open between uses to help dry the interior and prevent odor-causing residue.
Cleaning Your Top-Loading Washer
Perform this procedure at least monthly or every 30 wash cycles to control soil and detergent buildup.
Cleaning the Inside of the Washer
To keep your washer odor-free:
Recommended Cycle for Cleaning the Washer
Some models have a "Clean Washer" cycle with higher water volumes, used with affresh® Washer Cleaner or liquid chlorine bleach. If your model lacks this cycle, use the online Cycle Guide for the optimal cycle.
Description of Clean Washer with affresh® Cycle:
This cycle uses higher water levels for better rinsing and includes agitation and spinning to remove soils. Leave the lid open after the cycle to allow for better ventilation and drying.
Begin Procedure:
- Affresh® Washer Cleaner Cycle: Open lid, remove items. Place one affresh® tablet in the washer basket (not dispenser). Do not add other chemicals. Close lid. Select recommended cleaning cycle. Press START. (If interrupted, use POWER/CANCEL or START/PAUSE. Run Rinse & Spin cycle afterward.)
- Chlorine Bleach Procedure (Alternative): Open lid, remove items. Add 1 cup (236 mL) liquid chlorine bleach to the bleach compartment. Close lid. Do not add other chemicals. Select recommended cleaning cycle. Press START. (If interrupted, use POWER/CANCEL or START/PAUSE. Run Rinse & Spin cycle afterward.)
Cleaning the Dispensers
Residue may build up in dispensers. Dispensers are not dishwasher-safe.
- For non-removable dispensers: Wipe with affresh® Machine Cleaning Wipe or damp cloth, then towel dry.
- For removable dispensers: Remove drawer, clean with affresh® wipe or damp cloth, then towel dry. Use all-purpose cleaner if needed.
Cleaning the Outside of the Washer
Do not use abrasive products. Wipe spills with an affresh® wipe, soft damp cloth, or sponge. Use mild soaps or cleaners for external surfaces.
Non-Use and Vacation Care
Operate only when home. If moving or not using for a period:
