Assemble Your Ninebot S-PRO
Follow these steps to assemble the knee control bar:
- Open the tool-free release on the steering bar.
- Insert the steering bar into the mainframe steering socket.
- Fasten the quick release to secure the steering bar.
- Adjust the knee pads to a suitable height by rotating the height adjustment knob anticlockwise, then clockwise to tighten.
After assembly, check the Power ON/OFF status. The Ninebot S-PRO is not activated by default and will beep. Activation requires the Segway-Ninebot App. Install the App, connect via Bluetooth, and follow the New Rider Tutorial for activation and initial setup.
Charging
To charge the Ninebot S-PRO:
- Locate the charge port on the mainframe.
- Open the protective cap.
- Open the rubber cap.
- Insert the charger plug into the socket.
Do not charge if the unit, charger, or outlet is wet. Use only the provided Ninebot charger. A surge protector is recommended.
First Ride and Learning to Ride
Important: For safety, a New Rider Tutorial must be completed before your first ride. Scan the QR code to install the Segway-Ninebot App.
Rider Requirements:
- Weight: 85-220 lbs (40-100 kg)
- Height: 4'3"-6'6" (130-200 cm)
Initial Riding Steps:
- After activation, follow the New Rider Tutorial in the App and this manual.
- The Ninebot S-PRO limits speed to 4.3 mph (7 km/h) until the tutorial is completed.
- For the first 0.6 miles (1 km) post-tutorial, speed is limited to 6.2 mph (10 km/h).
- After this, the speed limiter can be disabled via the App, allowing a maximum speed of 11.2 mph (18 km/h).
- Mounting: Stand near the Ninebot S-PRO. Place one foot on a foot mat, keeping your other foot on the ground for balance. Slowly transfer your weight onto the foot mat. Then, place your second foot on the other foot mat.
- Posture: Stand with weight evenly distributed, relax, and look straight ahead. Avoid sudden steering.
- Movement: Gently lean your body forward to move forward, backward to slow down or move backward.
- Turning: Lean gently left or right against the steering bar/knee pads to turn.
- Assistance: For your first ride, have a friend assist you in a large open area.
Warnings during riding:
- Avoid contacting obstacles with tires.
- Maintain moderate speed (2-6 mph) on uneven terrain, keeping knees bent.
- Watch your head when passing through doorways.
- Avoid slopes steeper than 15°.
- Do not accelerate when the unit tilts back or alarms.
- Do not ride through puddles or water.
- Avoid abrupt acceleration or deceleration.
- The Ninebot S-PRO is for one rider only.
- Do not ride over obstacles like holes, curbs, or steps.
- Do not rock back and forth or shift weight abruptly.
Lifting and Assistance Mode
Lifting: The Ninebot S-PRO automatically restores power when placed on the ground. Avoid lifting by the fenders or mainframe to prevent injury or damage.
Power Assist: When powered on with no rider, the unit is in Power Assist Mode. Use the steering bar to guide it across smooth surfaces. Avoid guiding it up stairs, over potholes, or rough terrain; maneuver around obstacles or carry it over them.
Maintenance
Cleaning: Use a soft, wet cloth to wipe the mainframe. For stubborn dirt, use a toothbrush and toothpaste, then wipe clean. Do not use alcohol, gasoline, acetone, or other corrosive solvents, as they can damage the unit. Do not use high-pressure washers.
Precautions: Ensure the unit is powered OFF and the charger is unplugged before cleaning. Seal the charge port cap tightly to prevent electric shock or component damage.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. This prevents plastic aging and battery degradation.
Battery Care: Charge the battery after each ride. Avoid complete draining. Battery performance is optimal at room temperature (70°F/22°C). Performance decreases in cold temperatures (e.g., range halved at -4°F/-20°C) but recovers when warm. A fully charged battery retains charge for 120-180 days in standby. Do not disassemble the battery.
Tire Inflation: Inflate tires to 45-50 psi, ensuring both are equally inflated.
