TCL NXTPAPER 14 Quick Start Guide

1. Your Device
Familiarize yourself with the components of your TCL NXTPAPER 14 tablet:
- Top Edge: Features volume up/down buttons, a power key, a microphone, the NXTPAPER Key, and the front camera.
- Side Edges: Each side has a speaker.
- Bottom Edge: Contains the USB-C port for charging and data transfer.
- Back: Houses the rear camera and the flash/flashlight.
2. Charging
Your new tablet arrives partially charged. To ensure optimal battery performance, charge the battery fully using the included charger and USB-C cable. ?
3. Home Screen
The Home screen is your central hub for quick access to your most frequently used items, including applications, shortcuts, and folders.
Tapping the [home button] icon always returns you to the main Home screen.
Status Bar
The status bar at the top of the screen displays:
- [status/notification indicators]: Icons showing network signal, battery level, time, and other system alerts.
- [drag down]: Swipe downward from the status bar to open the Notification panel or the Quick Settings panel.
Favorite Applications Tray
Located at the bottom of the screen, this tray holds your most used apps:
- [tap]: Tap an app icon to open it.
- [long press]: Long press an app icon to move or change its position.
The Home screen uses an extended format, allowing more space for icons and shortcuts. Swipe left and right on the Home screen to view these extended screens.
Notification Panel & Quick Settings
Swipe downward from the status bar to access these panels:
Notification Panel
View alerts and notifications here. [tap]: Tap on a notification to open the corresponding application. You can clear event-based notifications using the 'CLEAR ALL' option, while ongoing notifications will remain.
Quick Settings Panel
Quickly enable or disable functions and change modes by tapping the icons. [tap to access full Settings menu]: Access the complete Settings menu for more detailed management. [tap to edit Quick Settings panel]: Customize the icons shown in this panel.
4. Contacts
Your tablet stores contacts using the Contacts app. You can add, edit, or delete contacts directly on your device and synchronize them with other accounts that support contact syncing.
You can also import or export contacts from various sources, such as external storage or email accounts.
Adding a Contact
Open the Contacts app ? from the applications list, then tap the [add contact icon] to add a new contact.
Synchronizing Contacts
Contacts and related data can be synchronized across multiple accounts, depending on the applications installed on your tablet.
5. Gmail
Upon initial setup, your tablet automatically synchronizes with your Google account. Use the Gmail app ? to create, send, and receive emails directly on your device. The app supports adding multiple email accounts.
To Open Gmail
From the Home screen, tap the Gmail icon within the Google folder.
Gmail displays conversations from one account at a time. To add additional accounts, navigate to Menu ☰ > Settings ⚙️ > Add account.
To switch between accounts, tap the account icon in the top right corner and select the desired account.
To Create and Send Emails
- Tap the [compose icon] from the Inbox screen.
- Enter the recipient's email address in the "To" field.
- If needed, tap the [CC/BCC icon] to add Carbon Copy or Blind Carbon Copy recipients.
- Enter the subject and the content of your message.
- Tap the [attach file icon] to add an attachment.
- Tap the [send icon] to send the email.
If you wish to save the email without sending immediately, tap the [save draft icon]. To view drafts later, navigate to Menu ☰ and select the Drafts folder.

6. Getting Connected
To connect to the internet with your tablet, you will need an active Wi-Fi connection. ?
Wi-Fi
To turn on Wi-Fi and connect to a network:
- Go to Settings ⚙️ > Wi-Fi.
- Tap the [Wi-Fi switch] to turn on Wi-Fi.
- Tap on a Wi-Fi network name to connect. If the network is secured, you will be prompted to enter a password or other credentials. Tap [connect button] when finished.
- For hidden networks, swipe up the screen and select 'Add network'. Enter the network's SSID, password, and security credentials, then tap [save button].
