Assembly
Assembly requires two people. Hire an authorized service technician by calling 1-800-445-2480, or assemble it yourself.
Clear a space and remove packing materials. Note: The walking belt is pre-lubricated; some lubricant transfer is normal. Wipe off any excess with a soft cloth and mild cleaner.
Required Tools: Included hex keys, Phillips screwdriver, rubber mallet, adjustable wrench, wire cutters, needlenose pliers.
Assembly Hardware: The manual lists various bolts, nuts, washers, and spacers with key numbers and quantities. Ensure all parts are present before starting. Do not use power tools for assembly.
Assembly Steps: Follow the detailed step-by-step instructions provided in the manual, referencing the diagrams and part numbers for connecting the base, uprights, wheels, frame spacers, console, handrails, and pulse assembly. Ensure bolts are tightened appropriately as instructed.
Operation and Adjustment
Pre-Lubricated Walking Belt: Do not apply silicone spray or other substances to the belt or platform, as this can cause deterioration and excessive wear.
Power Cord Connection:
- Ensure the treadmill is plugged into a surge suppressor, which is then plugged into a properly grounded outlet.
- The treadmill is designed for a 120-volt circuit and has a grounding plug.
- Do not use GFCI-equipped outlets.
- A temporary adapter can be used for 2-pole receptacles if a grounded outlet is unavailable, but a qualified electrician should install a proper outlet. Ensure the adapter's ground connection is secured.
- Use a UL 1449 listed surge suppressor with specific voltage and dissipation ratings. A monitoring light indicates proper function.
Console Features:
- Manual Mode: Control speed and incline manually.
- Preset Workouts: Four weight loss and four performance workouts are available. Weight loss workouts may prompt the use of dumbbells.
- Pulse Sensor: Measure heart rate using handgrip sensors.
- Information Mode: Track usage hours and distance, and select units (miles/kilometers).
- Demo Mode: For display purposes in stores; displays remain lit when the key is removed.
Turning On Power: Plug in the cord, set the reset/off circuit breaker to 'reset', and insert the safety key into the console. Allow the treadmill to warm up if exposed to cold temperatures.
Using the Manual Mode: Insert key, start belt (using Start button, speed increase, or quick speed buttons), adjust speed and incline, monitor progress on displays, measure heart rate if desired, stop the belt, lower incline to minimum, remove key, switch breaker to 'off', and unplug the power cord.
Using Preset Workouts: Insert key, select workout, start belt, follow programmed speed and incline changes. Dumbbells may be used for weight loss workouts. Manually override settings if needed, but the treadmill will revert to programmed settings at the start of the next segment. Stop or restart as needed.
Using Dumbbells: Hold dumbbells at your sides or above your head for crosstraining. Do not use at speeds faster than walking, and maintain balance by holding handrails.
Folding and Moving the Treadmill
Folding for Storage:
- Adjust incline to the lowest position before folding.
- Remove the key and unplug the power cord.
- Lift the metal frame halfway to the vertical position, bending your legs and keeping your back straight.
- Pull the latch knob to the left, align the platform cushion hole with the latch pin, and release the knob to secure the frame.
- Place a mat under the treadmill to protect floors. Avoid direct sunlight and temperatures above 85° F (30° C) in storage.
Moving the Treadmill:
- Ensure the treadmill is folded and latched securely. Remove dumbbells.
- Hold a handrail and the frame, place a foot against a wheel.
- Tip the treadmill back to roll on its wheels. Move with extreme caution, avoiding uneven surfaces. Do not pull back on the frame.
- Lower the treadmill carefully to the floor.
Unfolding for Use:
- Pull the latch knob to the left and pivot the frame downward until it clears the latch pin. Release the knob.
- Hold the metal frame firmly with both hands and lower it to the floor, bending your legs and keeping your back straight.
Troubleshooting
Power Does Not Turn On: Check power cord connection to surge suppressor and grounded outlet. Ensure the key is inserted. Check the reset/off circuit breaker; if tripped, wait five minutes and reset.
Power Turns Off During Use: Check the circuit breaker; if tripped, wait five minutes and reset. Ensure the power cord is plugged in; if so, unplug, wait five minutes, and plug back in. Remove and reinsert the key. If issues persist, contact customer care.
Console Displays Remain Lit After Key Removal: This indicates demo mode is on. Hold the Stop button for a few seconds to turn it off. If displays remain lit, refer to the Information Mode section.
Console Displays Not Functioning Properly: Remove key, unplug power cord, and remove the motor hood (requires specific screws) to inspect components.
Walking Belt Slows When Walked On: Ensure proper surge suppressor use. If the belt is overtightened, loosen idler roller bolts counterclockwise (1/4 turn at a time) until the belt can be lifted 2-3 inches off the platform. Ensure the belt is centered. If issues persist, contact customer care.
Walking Belt Off-Center or Slips: If off-center, adjust idler roller bolts clockwise (for left shift) or counterclockwise (for right shift) by 1/2 turn. If slipping, tighten idler roller bolts clockwise (1/4 turn at a time) until the belt can be lifted 2-3 inches. Ensure the belt is centered. Repeat adjustments as needed.
Incline Not Changing Correctly: With the key inserted, press an incline button, then remove and re-insert the key to recalibrate the incline system.
Exercise Guidelines
Consult Your Physician: Essential for individuals over 35 or with pre-existing health conditions.
Pulse Sensor: Not a medical device; used as an exercise aid for heart rate trends.
Exercise Intensity:
- Burning Fat: Exercise at low intensity for sustained periods. Aim for heart rate near the lowest number in your training zone. For maximum fat burning, aim for the middle number.
- Aerobic Exercise: Perform activity requiring significant oxygen for prolonged periods. Aim for heart rate near the highest number in your training zone.
Heart Rate Chart: The manual includes a chart showing recommended heart rates based on age for fat burning and aerobic exercise. Find your age group at the bottom to determine your target heart rate zones.
Workout Guidelines:
- Warm-Up: 5-10 minutes of stretching and light exercise to increase body temperature and circulation.
- Training Zone Exercise: 20-30 minutes with heart rate in your training zone. Breathe regularly.
- Cooling Down: 5-10 minutes of stretching to improve flexibility and prevent issues.
Exercise Frequency: Aim for three workouts per week with rest days in between. Increase to five workouts per week as fitness improves. Make exercise a regular, enjoyable part of your routine.
