Step 1: Front View

There are noticeable Jaguar cues at the front of the car, such as the bonnet bulge, which have appeared on Jaguars since the 1960's. The wrap of the nose cone and large vents that sit either side of the front grille provide the F-TYPE with an enhanced visual width and an intimidating ‘rear view mirror’ presence.

BI-FUNCTION HID XENON HEADLAMPS: Provide intense white light for both main and dipped beam, whilst LED blades create a distinct night-time signature.

OPTIONAL INTELLIGENT HIGH BEAM SYSTEM: Automatically switches between low and high beam when necessary.

OPTIONAL ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM: Lamps swivel up to 7 degrees inwards and up to 14 degrees outwards for improved visibility during cornering.

LOWER GRILLE: Features air intakes to help cool the front brake discs to maintain brake performance during sustained dynamic driving.

Step 2: Front ¼ View

Power Output Graph: A graph shows Power Output (PS) against Engine (RPM). The F-TYPE V8 S reaches approximately 495 PS at around 6000 RPM. The F-TYPE S reaches approximately 380 PS at around 6000 RPM. The F-TYPE reaches approximately 340 PS at around 6000 RPM.

Intelligent Stop/Start features as standard, delivering fuel economy savings of up to 5%.

The new 8-speed QuickShift close-ratio automatic transmission with adaptive control system delivers rapid, controlled gear changes. Twinned with the torque converter, it provides the capability to deliver a refined driving experience.

Dynamic Launch Mode produces a dramatic and rapid acceleration from rest to 100km/h (60mph) in just 4.9 (4.8) seconds.

Step 3: Side View

The side view of the F-TYPE in particular demonstrates Jaguar's design principles of purity in line and surface. One line runs up from the front spoiler, rises vertically through the vane in the front vent, through the headlamp, into the door, and then sweeps gently towards the rear wheel before disappearing into the rear wing. It has a speed and spontaneity that makes the car look fast. A second line picks up over the top of this and travels over the rear haunch before sweeping into the back of the car with an equal sense of speed.

ALUMINIUM: Has been used throughout the vehicle to provide strength and a near-perfect weight distribution that provides the car with a natural agility.

'AC600' SKIN PANEL ALLOY: Has been developed by Jaguar to produce tighter radii and feature lines on the vehicle.

'LIGHT CATCHER' FEATURE: Sits in the lower half of the body, removing the visual mass from the side of the car, giving it a sense of speed as it runs off one wheel arch into the other, gaining depth as it moves along the car.

DEPLOYABLE DOOR HANDLES: Add to the smooth lines of the vehicle with a built-in LED light that illuminates the area around the door handle.

Choice of alloy wheels range from the 18" wheels on the entry model to a 20" alloy wheel on all derivatives.

OPTIONAL HIGH PERFORMANCE BRAKING SYSTEMS: Include the Super Performance system which features 380mm brake discs at the front and 376mm discs at the rear.

SUSPENSION AND JAGUAR ADAPTIVE DAMPING SYSTEM: (Standard on F-TYPE S and V8 S) uses a system of sensors to monitor vehicle environment and driver demands to adjust the stiffness of the dampers accordingly.

Step 4: Rear View

At the rear of the F-TYPE, its distinctive silhouette tails off into a low-profile rear deck. Combined with high rear haunches and a low rear screen, the vehicle has an enormous amount of presence and muscular stance on the road.

CONVERTIBLE ROOF: Operates in just 12 seconds at a speed of up to 50km/h (30mph). An optional removable wind deflector can also be fixed between the rollover protection bars.

DEPLOYABLE REAR SPOILER: Automatically deploys at 100km/h (60mph) and retracts once the car speed falls below 65km/h (40mph). The spoiler can also be manually deployed below 100km/h (60mph).

LED REAR LAMPS: Sweep around to the side of the car, with a roundel sitting within the lamps in a direct reference to the E-Type Jaguar.

BOOT CAPACITY: Of 196 litres has been designed to hold a set of golf clubs as well as the vehicle's battery and washer bottle. This moves weight to the rear of the car, improving weight distribution.

TAILPIPES: Are housed in the rear venturi. V6 engine variants feature twin central pipes, and the V8 S features quad outboard tailpipes.

ACTIVE SPORTS EXHAUST: (Optional on F-TYPE, standard on F-TYPE S and V8 S models) when operated in Dynamic mode, automatically activates bypass valves in the exhaust system producing a richer, more exhilarating noise. As an additional option, the bypass valves can be manually activated by a switch in the centre console.

Step 5: Interior View

The design of the F-TYPE's interior generates a driver-focussed experience. A sweeping line that incorporates the passenger grab-handle runs from the centre of the dashboard, creating a cockpit feel for the driver. Primary controls such as the steering wheel and gear lever are designed to deliver a highly tactile experience, with dials and instrumentation to provide the driver with optimum levels of information and minimal distractions.

CONFIGURABLE DYNAMICS: Is operated through the simple and logical Touch-screen, allowing the driver to fine-tune a number of the car's settings, including the engine responsiveness, steering, gearshift time, and suspension. This function also features Dynamic-i displays, which allow the driver to display a range of vehicle performance information including stop watch, brake & acceleration telemetry, and a G-meter.

ACTIVE CENTRAL AIR VENT: Automatically rises and retracts when the temperature in the cabin changes, ensuring the dashboard is kept low and with a much cleaner impression.

ANALOGUE DIALS: Are simple and clear to use, with additional information being provided by a TFT screen that sits in the middle of the two dials.

SPORTSHIFT SELECTOR: Enables the driver to select gear modes to shift gears sequentially. Sequential gear shifts can also be made using the steering wheel-mounted paddles.

STANDARD SPORT SEATS: Provide figure-hugging support. The optional Performance seats have extended 'wings' offering greater support for dynamic driving situations.

Engines

The F-TYPE features a range of Supercharged V6 and V8 engines providing the driver with instantaneous access to high levels of power and torque.

Active Sports Exhaust

Both the F-TYPE S and V8 S models are fitted as standard with an Active Sports Exhaust system. This utilises a number of electronically controlled bypass valves in the rear section of the exhaust which open under hard acceleration to enhance sound quality, effectively altering the exhaust gas routing into a free-flowing arrangement. The Active Sports Exhaust offers an authentic, rich sound, developing to a howling crescendo as the upper limits of the rev range are reached. In addition to the bypass valves opening under load, they can be instructed to open full-time by selecting Dynamic Mode or via an optional override button.

Gearbox

The close-ratio 8-speed QuickShift automatic gearbox delivers entertaining, rapid gearchanges that will satisfy the most discerning of sports car customers. Thanks to its torque converter, the QuickShift gearbox also has the capability to deliver a refined driving experience when required.

Adaptive Shift Strategy (ASIS)

The gearbox features ASIS, which enables the car to detect the demands the driver is making. It also reacts to the manner in which the car is behaving and reacts to change its gearshift strategy accordingly. The advanced control of the ASIS system allows the F-TYPE to be in the right gear for every situation.

Intelligent Stop/Start

The F-TYPE features Jaguar's Intelligent Stop/Start system as standard. This system automatically shuts down the engine when the car comes to a halt and the driver's foot is on the brake pedal. When the brake is released, the system can restart the engine in just 300 milliseconds. The system offers fuel economy and emissions benefits of up to 5%.

Alloy Structure

The F-TYPE uses a second-generation alloy structure which allows the engineering team to create the ideal foundations for an outstanding sports car, combining light weight with strength. The F-TYPE's near-perfect weight distribution and compact dimensions with a wide stance ensure the car is naturally agile and stable. The car's light weight ensures high power-to-weight and torque-to-weight ratios, delivering high performance and a strong performance feel.

Deployable Spoiler

The F-TYPE's rear spoiler automatically deploys at 100km/h (60mph) and retracts once the car speed falls below 65km/h (40mph). The spoiler can also be manually deployed at speeds below 100km/h (60mph).

Suspension

The F-TYPE uses all-round forged aluminium double wishbone suspension delivering an outstanding combination of ride and handling capabilities.

The Adaptive Damping system features as standard on the F-TYPE S and V8 S derivatives.

This system features a series of sensors placed around the car which measure vertical body movement, body roll, and pitch 100 times per second. The system controls the stiffness of each individual damper by controlling a secondary valve to restrict or increase the flow of oil through the damper.

Benefits of the system include improved body control, improved handling and agility, as well as rapid detection and reaction to critical driving conditions.

Braking System

The F-TYPE's braking system has been optimised for each derivative to combine both performance and light weight, whilst delivering reassuring performance that remains consistent and dependable even when driven in a dynamic fashion for prolonged periods.

Three braking systems are available:

• Performance Braking System (Standard on F-TYPE): Front Disc Diameter – 354mm, Rear Disc Diameter – 325mm
• High Performance Braking System (Standard on F-TYPE S): Front Disc Diameter – 380mm, Rear Disc Diameter – 325mm
• Super Performance Braking System (Standard on F-TYPE V8 S): Front Disc Diameter – 380mm, Rear Disc Diameter – 376mm

Jaguar Active Differential

The F-TYPE V8 S model is fitted with Jaguar's Active Differential. This system is operated by an electric motor acting on a multiplate clutch within the rear differential, which can transfer torque to the wheel with the most grip. Fully automatic in operation, the system can apply full locking torque almost instantaneously. Working in conjunction with the stability, traction, and ABS systems, it allows for very fine control of power delivery to make the most use of available grip.

Configurable Dynamic Mode

This system allows the driver to fine-tune a number of the car's settings via the Touch-screen, to define which characteristics are altered when Dynamic Mode is selected, including engine responsiveness, steering, gearshift time, and suspension.

Dynamic-i Displays

The Configurable Dynamics system also features Dynamic-i displays, which allow the driver to display a range of performance information on the car. This includes a stop watch with split times, brake and acceleration telemetry, and a G-meter.
