Installation Diagram
This diagram is applicable for single, twin, or triple water filters.
Diagram Description: The diagram illustrates the plumbing connections for an under-sink water filter system. It shows the faucet connected to the cold water supply via a T-piece and an angle stop valve. The filter housing unit is connected between the T-piece and the faucet using tubing. Key components are labeled: 1. Faucet, 2. Housing, 3. Bracket, 4. Push-In T-Piece, 5. Angle Stop Valve (Not Included With System), 6. Pressure Limiting Valve, 7. Tubing. Connection 'A' shows a 1/4" tube connecting the feed water valve to the inlet. Connection 'B' shows a 1/4" tube connecting the outlet to the faucet.
1. Easy Installation Guide
(A video guide is available for assistance.)
- Place a towel inside the cupboard to absorb any potential water spillage or leaks during installation.
- Turn off the cold water supply either at the angle stop valve under the sink or at the main water meter outside the property.
- Turn on the sink tap to drain any remaining water and release pressure. Disconnect the braided flexible hose from the water source by turning it counter-clockwise with a spanner.
- Clean the male thread end of the water supply connection, removing any old thread tape.
- Wrap thread tape around the male thread of the connector. Screw the provided T-piece connector clockwise onto its swivel female end and tighten with a spanner. Ensure the push-in hose end of the T-piece is oriented towards the location where the under-sink water filter unit will be mounted. Apply thread tape to the male end connector of the T-piece, then screw on the braided flexible hose via its swivel female connector.
- Position the water filter unit. Ensure there is a minimum of 30mm of space under the water filter housing to allow for future cartridge replacement. Drill two holes according to the mounting holes on the under-sink bracket. Screw the mounting screws into these holes, then mount the under-sink water filter onto the screws and tighten as required.
- Connect the water hose into the push-in connector of the T-piece. Cut the water hose to the required length and insert the cut end into the PLV (Pressure Limiting Valve). The PLV then connects via water hose to the inlet side of the water filter. Use the remaining hose to connect to the outflowing side of the water filter, ready to attach to the faucet. Push a red clip onto each connection if supplied (note: the system can be installed without red clips if needed).
2. How to Install the Under Sink Faucet
- Before starting, ensure the installation area is free from hazards or electricity that could cause harm.
- If you are not competent in plumbing tasks, seek assistance from a qualified person.
- Select the optimal position for your drinking water faucet on the sink or benchtop.
- Once the position is determined, BEFORE DRILLING, ensure you can access the faucet's thread under the sink to tighten the nut after the faucet is installed through the hole. Verify that you can still access the faucet to fill kettles and other appliances under the chosen position.
- Apply a piece of 1cm x 1cm tape over the area where you intend to drill the hole for the faucet. This will help secure your drill bit and prevent it from moving on smooth surfaces like steel sinks or benchtops, thus avoiding damage.
- For steel surfaces, use a centre punch or pointed object to mark the exact spot for drilling.
- Drill a pilot hole through the steel sink or benchtop using a small drill bit (approx. 3mm to 5mm). Then, drill a 12mm hole through the pilot hole, ensuring it is large enough for the faucet shaft to fit through. (If drilling a stone benchtop, consult a competent person).
- Insert the escutcheon plate of the faucet onto the faucet shaft, followed by the escutcheon rubber washer.
- Insert the faucet shaft through the newly drilled hole. From under the sink, place the rubber washer onto the faucet shaft, followed by the lock washer, and then screw on the provided lock nut.
- Tighten the faucet holding nut. Connect the water hose using the supplied connector, which is typically a simple push-on connector. If connecting your water hose using an older style ferrule connection, refer to the instructions provided on the faucet box. Your water filter is now installed.
Please read the "How to Flush your ULTRAPURE Aragon 10” Triple Under Sink Water Filter System with Fluoride Removal & Alkaline" guide before flowing any water into your system and inspecting for leaks. NOTE: DO NOT FLOW ANY WATER THROUGH THE SYSTEM OR THE CARTRIDGES UNTIL THE CORRECT STEP 3 (FLUSHING PROCEDURE) HAS BEEN DONE.
3. How to Flush Your Under Sink Water Filter
(A video guide is available for assistance.)
- Connect your water filter as required. DO NOT TURN ON THE WATER YET.
- CARTRIDGE POSITIONS:
- Fluoride Removal Cartridge - position 1
- Aragon Cartridge - position 2
- Alkaline Cartridge - position 3
- Get the housing opening tool and open the 3 housings. Remove any cartridge packaging if not already removed before installing each cartridge.
- Ensure the Fluoride Removal Cartridge is installed into position 1. NO other cartridges should be installed into positions 2 & 3. Screw back on the three housings and tighten.
- Slowly turn on the water at the T-piece. The filter will start to fill with water. Keep the water flowing, flushing only the cartridge in position 1, for a minimum of 10 minutes.
- After flushing the Fluoride Removal Cartridge for 10 minutes, turn off the water at the T-piece. Leave the faucet open to release any pressure. Remove the 2nd housing and install the Aragon Cartridge into housing position 2. Then, remove housing 3 and install the Alkaline cartridge into housing number 3 with the cartridge washer up into the head cap.
- Turn on the water and flush all 3 cartridges at the same time for another 5 minutes straight. You can get a bucket to save the water being flushed for plants if preferred.
- Whilst the water is flowing, adjust the incoming water T-piece into the correct position to ensure the water is flowing from your drinking water faucet at a maximum of 2.5 litres per minute for best filtration results. Your water filter is now ready for use.
NOTE: The Fluoride Removal Cartridge works very well at removing Fluoride from the water; however, this cartridge MUST be flushed for a minimum of 10 minutes.
NOTE: Cartridges with carbon inside can emit black water when first flushed. This will become clear quite quickly.
The slower the water is filtered, the better the water quality created. For maximum performance and Fluoride removal, slow the flow rate down to 1 litre per minute or even slower. You can fill containers at this slow rate for later use.
PLEASE READ: If the water filter is unused for 5 or more days, turn it on and flow water through the filter for 2 minutes before use.
How to Change Cartridges
- Turn off the T-piece cold water supply valve under the sink.
- Turn on the faucet. This will drain the remaining water and release any pressure built up inside the under-sink water filter system.
- Place a towel on the under-sink cupboard floor to help absorb water in case of spillage or leaks while working.
- Get the housing opening tool and insert it onto the under-sink water filter housing you wish to remove.
- Turn the housing opening tool to the left until the seal breaks open. Now, turn by hand until the housing is removed.
- Remove the old cartridges and discard them into the rubbish bin. Get the new cartridges and remove their packaging if not already removed.
- Ensure the Fluoride Removal Cartridge is installed into position 1, and NO other cartridges are installed into positions 2 & 3.
You can get a bucket to save the water being flushed for the plants if preferred.
- Whilst the water is flowing, adjust the incoming water T-piece into the correct position to ensure the water is flowing from your drinking water faucet at a maximum of 2.5 litres per minute for best filtration results. Your water filter is now ready for use.
NOTE: There might be water left inside the housing. Please avoid spilling it onto the floor. Drain the water into the kitchen sink.
NOTE: The Fluoride Removal Cartridge MUST be flushed for a minimum of 10 minutes.
