Connection Limitation
Details on module and tower connections are provided, indicating maximum series and parallel configurations.
Installation
- Mounting Brackets: Attach wall brackets (F) to the wall using expansion anchor bolts (L) and M6 bolts/nuts (Q). Ensure a secure fit.
- Install BCU: Mount the BCU onto the wall bracket.
- Install Battery Modules: Stack HVS/HVM modules (C1/C2) onto the base (B). Secure each module with M4 screws (J) and ensure correct torque.
- Connect Power Cables: Use the provided power cables (6mm² or 10mm²) to connect the battery modules in series. Follow torque specifications.
- Connect Communication Cables: Connect the communication terminals between modules using the provided communication terminal connector.
- Install BCU Hanger: Attach the BCU hanger (D) to the BCU.
- Connect BCU to Battery: Connect the BCU to the first battery module using the communication terminal.
- Install Terminal Resistor: Install the terminal resistor (T) on the designated port.
- Connect Grounding: Connect the PE cable to the grounding terminal.
Refer to specific torque values and module quantities for different models (e.g., HVS 5.1, HVM 16.6).
Connection Diagram
Single Tower
Connect the inverter to the battery system via the BCU. Use terminal resistors as indicated.
Multiple Towers
For multiple towers, connect them in parallel, ensuring proper connections between master and slave units. Refer to diagrams for specific configurations.
Notes:
- Parallel connection may not be applicable to certain inverter models (e.g., SMA Sunny Boy Storage 3.7-6.0). Consult the inverter's operating manual.
- Power cable lengths between towers and to the inverter should be consistent and within limits (less than 20 m).
Parallel Connection - BCU and BCU-V2
Diagrams illustrate parallel connections for BCU and BCU-V2 master and slave units, including terminal resistor placement.
Electrical Connections
PE Connection
Connect the PE cable to the grounding terminal on the BCU, ensuring the correct length of the cable end.
DC Connection
Use appropriate crimping pliers (YQK-240) for 6mm² or 10mm² terminals. Ensure correct cable stripping length and secure crimping. Check the viewing hole on the terminal for proper crimping. Align the terminal's elastic piece with the plastic case opening before insertion and test for secure connection.
Connecting the Data Cable to an Inverter
Connect the data cable (CAT5e, max 20m) between the inverter's communication port and the BCU's 'INV' port. Refer to specific inverter communication diagrams in Section 13.
Connecting the Data Cable to a Router
Connect a data cable from the BCU's 'ETH' port to a router for network connectivity (recommended).
Installing the Terminal Resistor
Install the terminal resistor on the unused RJ45 port and secure it with the waterproof cover.
Configuration
Be Connect 2.0 App: Download and install the Be Connect 2.0 app. Connect to the battery's WiFi network (BYD-XXXX). Accept the Privacy Policy to proceed.
System Configuration: Use the app to configure the battery system. Select 'YES' to configure. Input date and time. Select the inverter model and quantity of battery modules per tower. Confirm configuration details.
WiFi Auto-off: The battery WiFi automatically shuts off after five hours. It can be reactivated by pressing the LED button or restarting the system.
Switch ON/OFF Procedure
- Ensure the air switch on the BCU is OFF before making electrical connections.
- Follow the ON/OFF sequence for the battery modules and the inverter. Typically, turn ON the battery modules first, wait for stabilization, then turn ON the inverter.
- The configuration process involves setting the inverter type and battery module quantities.
Extension
Preparation: Before extending the system, it is recommended to fully charge the original system to 100% SOC within 5 days.
Procedure:
- Measure the voltage (X) of the new battery module.
- Refer to the provided table to find the corresponding SOC (Y) for the measured voltage.
- Charge or discharge the original battery system until its SOC is approximately equal to Y.
- Add the new battery module and perform the necessary configuration.
LED Status
- Blinking white and blue alternatively (0.5s ON, 0.5s OFF): Battery system initiating.
- Solid white: Idle (not charging/discharging).
- Blinking white slowly: Battery system charging.
- Blinking white quickly: Battery system discharging.
- Blinking white and solid blue: Battery system discharging, SOC below 15%.
- Blinking white and blue (alternating 1s ON, 1s OFF): Error occurred. Refer to the service guideline.
