U-Shaped Window Air Conditioners
Costco Item # 1498424
Dear Costco Member,
Costco Wholesale records indicate you may have purchased a Danby brand U-Shaped Window Air Conditioner (Costco Item # 1498424) on Costco.com between June 10th, 2021, and February 2nd, 2022.
Our Supplier, Midea America Corp., is recalling U and U+ Window Air Conditioners it manufactured and sold under multiple brand names. These units present a risk of Mold growth. Pooled water in the air conditioners can fail to drain quickly enough, which can lead to Mold growth. Mold exposure poses risks of respiratory issues or other infections to some consumers. The following Danby branded U-Shaped Window Air Conditioners, sold by Costco, are affected by this recall:

This is a joint recall with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and GD Midea Air-Conditioning Equipment Co., Ltd.
If you have the Danby U-Shaped Window Air Conditioners in your possession, stop using it immediately. Consumers with the recalled air conditioners should immediately contact Midea at 1-888-345-0256, 8am-5pm ET Monday to Friday or visit www.MideaUrecall.expertinquiry.com to register for and learn more about the available recall remedies.
Midea is offering a free repair kit, which includes a new drain plug and bubble level, depending on the model, or a full or prorated refund, which will be based on the purchase date or date of manufacture. As a Costco member, you can also return the Danby U-Shaped Window Air Conditioner to a Costco warehouse to obtain a full refund.
Consumers who continue using the air conditioners while awaiting a repair should visit www.MideaUrecall.expertinquiry.com for instructions on how to inspect their unit prior to continuing use.
