Quick Start Guide
If you are a Windows user, please find the appropriate keycaps in the box, then follow the instructions below to find and replace the following keycaps.
1 Connect 2.4GHz Receiver
Connect the 2.4GHz receiver to the device USB port.

Instruction: Switch toggle to 2.4GHz mode.
Note: For the best wireless experience, Keychron recommends using the extension adapter for the receiver and placing the 2.4GHz receiver somewhere on your desk close to your keyboard to ensure a low rate of latency and fewer signal interferences.
2 Connect Bluetooth
Connect to a device via Bluetooth.

Instruction: Switch toggle to Bluetooth.
Action: Press fn1 + Q
(for 4 seconds) and pair with the device named Keychron V8 Max.
3 Connect Cable
Connect the keyboard using a USB cable.

Instruction: Switch toggle to Cable.
4 Switch To The Right System
Please make sure the system toggle on the top left corner has been switched to the same system as your computer's operating system.

5 The Backlight
Action: Press fn1 + A
to change the lighting effect.
Action: Press fn1 + caps lock
to turn the backlight on/off.

6 Adjust The Backlight Brightness
Action: Press fn1 + S
to increase the backlight brightness.
Action: Press fn1 + X
to decrease the backlight brightness.

7 The Layers
There are five layers of key settings on the keyboard:
- Layer 0: Mac system
- Layer 1: Windows system
- Layer 2: Mac Multimedia keys
- Layer 3: Windows Multimedia keys
- Layer 4: Function keys
A table shows the mapping of layers to different systems and functions. It indicates that if the system toggle is set to Mac, layer 0 is activated, and if set to Windows, layer 1 is activated.
8 The Keychron Launcher App
Please visit launcher.keychron.com to access the Keychron online launcher app. This app enables users to remap keys, adjust key actuation points, assign multiple commands to a single key, enter game controller mode, and more.
If the app cannot recognize your keyboard, please reach out to Keychron support for assistance.
Note:
- The online launcher App can only run on the latest version of Chrome, Edge, and Opera browsers.
- The online launcher App only works when the keyboard is connected by wire to the computer.

9 Warranty
The keyboard is highly customizable and easy to be rebuilt. If anything goes wrong with any of the keyboard components during the warranty period, Keychron will only replace the defective parts of the keyboard, not the whole keyboard.

10 Factory Reset
Troubleshooting? Don't know what's going on with the keyboard?
Factory Reset:
- Power on your keyboard.
- Press and hold
fn2 + J + Z
(for 4 seconds). The keyboard backlight will flash in red quickly for 3 seconds, indicating that the keyboard has been reset.
Flash Keyboard Firmware:
- Visit launcher.keychron.com to open the online Launcher web app.
- Ensure the keyboard is in Cable or Wired mode and plug in the power cable.
- Find the 'Firmware Update' tab on the left side of the Launcher and connect your keyboard with it.
- Follow the instructions on the Launcher and complete the firmware update.
