Bullfrog Spas 2025 Pre-Delivery Guide
This guide provides essential information for the pre-delivery of your Bullfrog Spa, ensuring a smooth and successful installation process.
Preparing Your Spa for Delivery
A standard delivery is accomplished using specialized spa moving equipment, provided your delivery path meets the following criteria. If your yard does not meet these criteria, please inform the delivery team when scheduling to arrange for alternative delivery methods, such as a crane.
Delivery Criteria:
- The path must be reasonably flat. The spa dolly can navigate grass, gravel, and dirt.
- The chosen path and final resting space must accommodate a width of up to 3 feet 6 inches and a height of 9 feet for the largest hot tubs.
- The spa must rest no more than 4 feet off the ground.
- Your electrical installation must be complete and compliant with local and federal codes.
NOTE: Additional charges may apply if standard delivery criteria are not met.
The diagram shows a minimum clearance requirement of 9 feet in height and 3'6" in width for delivery. An asterisk (*) indicates that the M9 and A9 models may require up to 12 feet of clearance if the spa needs to be placed on its side.
Choosing a Location
Carefully consider the spa dimensions when selecting its final location. A level, poured concrete slab at least 4 inches thick is recommended as a base, though other surfaces may be acceptable. Avoid using shims to level your spa.
Common Surface Choices:
- Concrete pad
- Pavers
- Contained pea gravel
- Decking
The diagram illustrates clearance requirements around the spa. Maintain 12"-18" of clearance in front of the door panel for access and ventilation. Allow up to 5" for a cover lifter accessory and up to 18" for the cover itself. Up to 40" is needed for steps.
*This clearance is for a Covermate IT™ Cover Lifter bar. Consult a sales associate for information on other lifter options and their specific clearance needs.
Power Requirements
Ensure the following power requirements are met for your Bullfrog Spa:
- A: Supply line (50amp). 60 amps are required for A9L, M9, and M8 Models.
- B: Spa disconnect/breaker with GFCI.
- C: Consult an electrician regarding the appropriate conduit.
- D: Example of an optional stub-up location (underneath the spa). Refer to your Owner's Manual for specific placement details based on your spa model.
- E: Electrical chase way option built into your hot tub (Left side).
- F: Electrical chase way option built into your hot tub (Back).
- G: Electrical chase way option built into your hot tub (Right side).
- H: Hard wire connection inside the spa.
Bullfrog Spas does not provide electrical wiring services. For quotes, please contact a licensed electrician.
The diagram illustrates the electrical connections. A GFCI is required within the electrical line. The 240V term refers to the 220-240 voltage range. The diagram also shows a minimum distance of 5 feet between the spa and the breaker.
Electrical Wire Length & Recommendations
This document assists you and your electrician in determining the necessary wiring length from the GFCI box to your new Bullfrog Spa.
Instructions:
- STEP 1: Measure the distance from the GFCI box to the ground (1) and enter the number of feet in the first box.
- STEP 2: Measure the distance from the GFCI box to the spa (2) and enter the number of feet in the second box.
- STEP 3: Add the measurements from Box 1 and Box 2 to determine the total length of wire needed in feet.
- STEP 4: On pages 6-8, locate your specific spa model. Determine the front of the spa in your backyard and identify the chase-way option you will use. (Swim Models are detailed on page 4).
- STEP 5: On page 2, write in the chase-way length in Box 1. On the previous page, write in the wire length from the diagram in Box 2. Add Box 1 and Box 2 to find the total length of wire needed.
The diagram visually represents the calculation for the total length of wire needed by adding 'Distance 1' and 'Distance 2'.
Spa Model Wire Lengths
The following diagrams provide specific wire length and chase-way information for various Bullfrog Spa models:
M Series & STIL Series:
- M9: 11 ft (chase-way from below) + 13 ft (wire from front) = 24 ft (total wire needed). No access on the left side.
- M8: 10 ft (chase-way from below) + 12 ft (wire from front) = 22 ft (total wire needed).
- M7: 10 ft (chase-way from below) + 12 ft (wire from front) = 22 ft (total wire needed). No access on the left side.
- M6: 10 ft (chase-way from below) + 7 ft (wire from front) = 17 ft (total wire needed). No access on the left side.
- STIL 7: 12 ft (chase-way from below) + 8 ft (wire from front) = 20 ft (total wire needed). Front access.
