This Quick Guide provides a quick introductory overview of the OM-5. Portability and Durability
The OM-5 is designed to be compact and lightweight, making it easy to carry without being a burden. This allows for more energy, shooting flexibility, and the ability to shoot longer.
System Weight
The system weight, including the OM-5 camera body and the OM SYSTEM 12-45mm F4 PRO and 40-150mm F4 PRO lenses (equivalent to 24-300mm), is 1,050g.

The OM-5 features class-leading IP53 dustproof, splashproof, and freezeproof design, allowing you to continue shooting in various conditions.
2. Interface
Super Control Panel (SCP)
The Super Control Panel (SCP) provides a quick and comfortable way to view and adjust all shooting settings. It can be activated by pressing the OK button. For viewfinder users, pressing the Live View Button displays the SCP, allowing full control over camera settings. The touchscreen interface ensures an easy, quick, and comfortable operation.

3. Modes
The mode dial is the primary control for your camera, defining the shooting mode. It allows you to choose between fully automatic or completely manual operation, supporting your shooting style.
PASM Modes
- P Mode (Program Auto): The camera decides aperture and exposure time, but settings can be overridden.
- A Mode (Aperture Priority): Control aperture and depth of field; the camera selects the appropriate shutter speed.
- S Mode (Shutter Priority): Control shutter speed for fast-moving subjects; the camera selects the appropriate aperture.
- M Mode (Manual): Full control over shutter speed and aperture. The camera provides a preview of the exposure in the viewfinder or monitor.
B Mode (Bulb)
Provides quick access to "Live Modes":
- Live Composite: Composites sections with changes in brightness.
- Live Bulb: Shutter stays open while the shutter release button is pressed.
- Live Time: Shutter opens on the first press and closes on the second press of the shutter release button.
C Mode (Custom)
A memory slot for quick access to individual, customized settings.
ART Mode (Art Filters)
Explore 16 distinct Art Filters for creative effects, including classic black and white emulations and soft-focus artistic styles.
SCN Mode (Scene Modes)
Features 22 Scene Modes (e.g., Beach & Snow, Nature Macro, Handheld Starlight) providing presets for specific shooting situations.
AUTO Mode
Fully automated mode for carefree shooting, allowing you to focus on photography without managing settings.
4. Autofocus and Computational Features
Full Customizable AF
Six types of AF target modes are available for pinpoint focus on details or fast-moving subjects, catering to traditional single-point focusing or custom AF patterns.
LiveND
Transform mundane moments into magical ones with LiveND, offering up to four steps of effect (ND16) to alter motion blur, even with wide-angle lenses.
Handheld Hi-res
Capture high-resolution 50MP files without needing a heavier camera or tripod, ideal for scenes that require detail and impact.
Starry Sky AF
Dedicated night sky auto-focusing mode makes astrophotography accessible, simplifying manual focusing for night sky shots. Can be combined with features like Live Composite.
Focus Stacking
Achieve sharp focus throughout the image by letting the camera combine multiple shots. Ideal for macro or low-light landscapes to maximize depth of field without high ISOs or narrow apertures.
Pro Capture
A "time machine" feature that continuously buffers images at up to 30 frames per second. Pressing the shutter button retains the last 14 frames, allowing you to select the perfect moment from fast-action sequences.
