Introduction

The S5U13C00P01C100 is the S1D13C00 EPD Evaluation Board. It functions as a BoosterPack board with a connector for the E Ink ET011TT2 EPD panel. It is designed for direct connection to the TI Tiva C Series EK-TM4C1294XL Launchpad evaluation board, enabling the evaluation and development of embedded EPD applications using the Epson S1D13C00 Memory Display Controller IC. It can also be controlled by the ST Nucleo-F746ZG or Nucleo-F767ZI board via the S5U13C00M00C100 (STM32 Nucleo-144 development board).

Figure 1: S5U13C00P01C100 EPD Evaluation Board: A visual representation of the evaluation board, showing its physical layout and connectors.

The S5U13C00P01C100 EPD Evaluation Board includes:

  • A S1D13C00 Memory Display Controller (U1).
  • Four 2x10 connectors (J4, J5, J6, J7) for Host Interface connection and +5V/+3.3V power.
  • A 16Mbytes QSPI Serial Flash (U2).
  • A flexible printed circuit (FPC) connector (CN2) for connecting to an ET011TT2 EPD panel.
  • An 18-pin right-angle header connector for connecting to other panels.

Figure 1.1: S5U13C00P01C100 Block Diagram for Interface: This block diagram illustrates the board's interfaces. It features a host MCU interface and three display interfaces: CN1 for E Ink's HULK power board, CN2 for the ET011TT2 panel module, and through holes for connecting to a memory display panel. CN2 can also connect to other E Ink panel modules. The booster components on the board are similar to those on the HULK power board, suitable for the ET011TT2 panel module.

Connecting the ET011TT2 EPD Panel

Figure 2: Connecting the ET011TT2 EPD Panel: An image demonstrating the physical connection of the ET011TT2 EPD panel to the evaluation board.

Connecting to the Host MCU Board

3.1 EK-TM4C1294XL Board

To connect the S5U13C00P01C100 EPD Evaluation Board to the EK-TM4C1294XL Launchpad Board, position the evaluation board on top of the Launchpad board and press them together. Ensure J4 connects to X8, J5 to X9, J6 to X6, and J7 to X7.

Figure 3: Connecting the S5U13C00P01C100 to the EK-TM4C1294XL: This image shows the physical arrangement of the S5U13C00P01C100 board stacked on top of the EK-TM4C1294XL Launchpad, with connectors aligned.

3.2 Nucleo-F746ZG or Nucleo-F767ZI Board

First, connect the S5U13C00M00C100 adapter board to the Nucleo board. Then, connect the S5U13C00P01C100 board to the S5U13C00M00C100 adapter board.

Figure 3.1: Connecting the S5U13C00P01C100 to the Nucleo-F746ZG or Nucleo-F767ZI: This image displays the sequence of connections involving the Nucleo board, the S5U13C00M00C100 adapter board, and the S5U13C00P01C100 evaluation board.
