X-Rite eXact 2: Advanced Color Measurement Solution

The eXact 2 is the successor to the industry-standard eXact spectrophotometer and densitometer. It represents the next generation of handheld color measurement and control, inheriting the high precision of the eXact while enhancing ease of use and functionality.

Key Features and Improvements over Previous eXact Models:

New Features: Large and Easy-to-See Tilting Screen

The eXact 2 features a screen that is 30% larger and easier to view, with a tilting capability for improved ergonomics.

New Feature: Contactless Measurement

This feature allows for contactless measurement, even with wet ink, preventing ink contamination. It also includes a film holder for flexible packaging material measurements.

New Feature: Inductive Charging

Simply place the device on the station for charging. The stable charging station is designed to stay in place even on a color matching stand.

New Feature: Custom Settings with MyTool

Customize settings for various applications beyond printing, such as industrial settings, commercial printing, and packaging.

New Feature: High-Speed DataCatcher

The DataCatcher now supports simple scan measurements with adjustable patch width and gap. Illuminant, observer, white reference, and status can be specified here. Data flow direction can be set, and spreadsheets can be enabled for free configuration (or fixed when off). This feature allows for data transfer start/stop with a single button.

New Feature: Wi-Fi Communication for IoT

Connect anywhere with Wi-Fi for IoT integration. The device supports IEEE 802.11 b/g/n standards, the 2.4 GHz ISM band, and various Wi-Fi security protocols.

New Feature: Built-in Scan Function

Define color bars in jobs and use the job function without software. Scan results can be viewed on the screen.

New Feature: Digital Loupe

Confirm halftone dot shapes with the digital loupe. Up to 20 images can be stored. Images can be exported in high-resolution PNG or JPEG format via the eXact 2 Suite.

eXact 2 Suite Features:

Functionality Overview:

The eXact 2 offers a comprehensive range of measurement functions, including CMYK and spot color density, dot gain, trapping, print contrast, L*a*b*/L*C*h measurements, color difference calculations (ΔE76, ΔE94, ΔE2000, ΔEcmc), best match, reflectance data export, paper index, whiteness, yellowness, metamerism, and more. It also supports Japan Color, G7, and PSO standards, with pass/fail judgment and standard color saving.

Specifications:

Lineup:

The eXact 2 series includes eXact 2, eXact 2 Xp, and eXact 2 Plus, offering varying capabilities in whiteness/yellowness, metamerism, color strength, hiding power, and spectral graph features. PantoneLIVE is available as an option or a 1-year license for the Plus model.

Aperture Sizes:

Four aperture sizes are available: 1.5mm, 2mm, 4mm, and 6mm, with corresponding target and recommended patch sizes for various scanning and color bar measurements.

Calibration:

The white calibration tile is integrated into the charging station. Calibration can be performed by scanning the QR code on the station or by manually selecting the station's serial number if the QR code is unreadable. The device automatically detects calibration status and provides feedback.

Product Configuration:

The eXact 2 package includes the eXact 2 main unit, carrying case, docking/charging station, USB-C cable, USB-A adapter, AC adapter, power cord, quick start guide, optional Non-Polar filter (for Plus model), glider attachment, Color Basics for Pressroom sample, Certificate of Performance, and registration guide.

Product Codes:

Product codes are structured as ETV-XRnYZLC, where 'n' denotes aperture size, 'YZ' is the model code (SD for eXact 2, XP for eXact 2 Xp, PL for eXact 2 Plus), and 'LC' is the line code indicating the region.

eXact 2 Ecosystem:

The eXact 2 connects to various X-Rite solutions, including PantoneLIVE, AUTURA/IFS, NetProfiler, Services, ColorCert, and X-Rite LINK, forming a comprehensive color management ecosystem.

Quality Management: QA Tool (ColorCert)

ColorCert is a tool for managing production colors, offering a simple app interface. Operations and display can be done from the eXact 2 side. It allows for operation away from the pressroom and provides at-a-glance pass/fail results. It also integrates with IFS and offers perpetual license options.

Reporting: ColorCert

Features a redesigned GUI for enhanced usability. ColorCert operations and display are accessible from the eXact 2. It supports pressroom operations away from the PC and enables report submission directly from the eXact 2.

Device Management: Fleet Management: X-Rite LINK

Centralize management of all devices in the cloud. Track device names, serial numbers, and locations. Monitor device health, including warranty periods, service care plans, and recertification status. Access service records, statistics, and requests.

eXact 2 Suite <-> X-Rite LINK Integration:

Upload content from eXact 2 Suite to your X-Rite LINK account. Push selected libraries and content to devices within a group from your X-Rite LINK account.

Target Color Numerical Management Flow:

The process involves defining target colors, creating libraries, uploading to the cloud via X-Rite LINK, distributing via push to multiple factories, and finally, pass/fail judgment.

Accuracy Check: NetProfiler3

NetProfiler3 is compatible with eXact 2 series devices. Profiling time is approximately half that of the previous eXact. License periods vary based on initial use, calibration date, or number of uses. USB is not included; download is required via the internet. Measurements are taken horizontally for eXact 2 and vertically for older eXact models. The system uses BCRA tiles for white and black references and features UV check for Matt Black and Gloss Black.

Product Registration:

Register your device easily via smartphone, even in printing environments without network access. Scan the QR code to access an online form. Benefits include access to eXact 2 Suite, X-Rite LINK dashboard, firmware updates, user guides, and training. Registration codes are no longer required, unlike previous eXact models.
