Programming the Remote
Follow the instructions below to program your myQ remote control. Ensure your garage door opener has a working light, which is necessary for the programming process. Refer to the specific LEARN button color on your garage door opener for detailed instructions.
Important: Locate and identify the color of your garage door opener's LEARN button. A ladder and possibly removing a light cover may be required.
Programming Options:
- Using the myQ app: Connect your garage door opener to the myQ app for advanced features like remote naming and notifications.
- Using the LEARN button: Follow the specific steps based on the color of your garage door opener's LEARN button (White, Yellow, Purple/Brown, Orange, or Red).
- Using the Control Panel: Utilize your garage door opener's control panel for programming.
General Programming Steps (for Yellow, Purple, Orange, or Red LEARN Button):
- Press and hold the two smaller buttons on the remote simultaneously until the red LED stays on.
- Press and immediately release the LEARN button on your garage door opener.
- Within 20 seconds, press and release the desired remote button twice. The remote's red LED will flash intermittently.
- When your garage door moves, within 3 seconds, press and release any remote button to confirm.
General Programming Steps (for White LEARN Button):
- Press and immediately release the LEARN button on your garage door opener.
- Within 30 seconds, press and hold the remote button you wish to program. Release when the garage door opener lights flash and/or two clicks are heard.
Testing: Press the programmed remote button. The garage door opener should activate. If it does not, wait for the opener's LEARN button LED to turn off (up to 3 minutes) and repeat the programming steps.
Troubleshooting: If programming issues arise, especially when switching between different colored LEARN buttons, refer to page 5 of the manual for specific instructions.
Replacing the Battery: 3-Button Remote Control
When the LED on your remote control stops flashing, the battery needs replacement. Use only a 3V CR2032 coin cell battery. Dispose of the old battery properly.
- On the back of the remote, unscrew the captive screw with a Phillips #1 screwdriver.
- With the remote buttons facing up, pry open the top housing from the bottom housing.
- Use a cotton swab to push the old battery out of its holder.
- Insert the new CR2032 battery with the positive side up.
- Align the top and bottom housing and clip them together. Tighten the captive screw until the housing is secure, being careful not to overtighten.
