Octo GX (OGX) Manual
Introduction
The Octo GX is a member of the GX Product Family. It is the ideal solution for installations that feature a large number of MPPT Solar Chargers, offering 10 VE.Direct ports.
As the communication hub of an installation, the Octo GX connects various components, ensuring they operate harmoniously. Live data monitoring and settings adjustments can be performed remotely using a smartphone or other device via Victron's free-to-use Victron Remote Management Portal (VRM).
System Diagram and Connectivity
The Octo GX serves as a central communication unit, connecting a variety of Victron Energy devices. Its connectivity options include:
- VE.Direct Ports: Used to connect devices such as MPPT Solar Chargers (e.g., BlueSolar MPPT 75|10), Battery Monitor units (e.g., BMV-700 or BMV-712smart), and Phoenix Inverters (e.g., Phoenix Inverter VE.Direct). The Octo GX features 10 such ports.
- VE.Bus Ports: Connects to inverter/chargers like the MultiPlus and Quattro series.
- VE.Can Ports: Used for CAN-bus devices, often requiring VE.Can RJ45 Terminators.
- LAN Port: An Ethernet connection for linking to an internet router.
- USB Port: Supports USB sticks for system updates and datalogging.
- GPS Port: For connecting a GPS receiver.
- microSD Card Slot: Also used for system updates and datalogging.
The diagram illustrates the Octo GX integrated with:
- Digital Multi Control units.
- Multi and Quattro Inverter chargers.
- BlueSolar MPPT 150|70 and MPPT 150|85 solar charge controllers.
- Skylla-i battery chargers.
