READ CAREFULLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO ASSEMBLE, INSTALL, OPERATE OR MAINTAIN THE PRODUCT DESCRIBED. PROTECT YOURSELF AND OTHERS BY OBSERVING ALL SAFETY INFORMATION. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH INSTRUCTIONS COULD RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE! RETAIN INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.
When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, including the following:
- Read all instructions before using the heater.
- After removing the packaging, make sure that the appliance is in good condition.
- Prior to use, thoroughly check the power cord and plug for any signs of damage.
- Packaging materials may contain plastic, nails, etc., which may be dangerous and placed out of reach of children.
- Use only the voltage specified on the rating plate of the heater (AC120V, 60HZ).
- Do not cover or restrict the heater in any way, as the equipment may overheat and pose a fire risk.
- Keep combustible materials such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, and curtains at least 3 feet (0.9m) from the front of the heater and keep them away from the sides and rear.
- Ensure the stability of your electrical network. It is recommended to use a 25A or higher fuse. Avoid using heaters and other high-power electrical appliances simultaneously to prevent circuit overload.
- Avoid using the infrared heater together with another appliance on the same multiple socket or connected to the same fuse.
- This heater has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. DO NOT use in areas where gasoline, paint, explosive and/or flammable liquids are used or stored. Keep unit away from heated surfaces and open flames.
- Certain parts of the heater can reach temperatures exceeding 200°C (392°F). Contact with the heating tube, reflector, or metal components near the heating tube can cause severe burns. Do not allow bare skin to touch hot surfaces. If you need to move the device, please turn off the heater and wait for complete cooling.
- Do not use the appliance to dry clothes.
- Do not leave the appliance unattended whilst in use.
- Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening, as this may cause an electric shock, fire, or damage to the appliance.
- Do not immerse in liquid or allow liquid to run into the interior of the appliance, as this could create an electrical shock hazard.
- Pay attention that no combustible material due to wind or other environmental influences covers or obstructs the appliance, such as curtains, marquees, flags, plastic foil etc.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord, plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Return to a qualified electrical person for examination, electrical or mechanical adjustment, service, or repair before further use.
- If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a qualified electrical person in order to avoid a hazard.
- Do not operate appliance with wet hands.
- This appliance is intended for household use only and not for commercial or industrial use.
- A common cause of overheating is deposits of dust or fluff in the appliance. Ensure these deposits are removed regularly by unplugging the appliance and vacuum-cleaning air vents and grilles, where available.
- Connect to properly grounded outlets only.
- This heater is not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry areas, and similar indoor locations. Never locate heater where it may fall into a bathtub or other water container.
- Always operate on a flat horizontal surface.
- Avoid the use of an extension cord because the extension cord may overheat and cause a risk of fire. However, if you have to use an extension cord, the cord shall be 14 AWG minimum size and rated not less than 2000 watts.
- Unplug the appliance when not in use for an extended period or when performing cleaning or maintenance. Before unplugging, ensure the power is turned off.
- Do not remove the power plug from the socket by pulling the cord - grip the plug instead.
- Do not allow cord to come in contact with heated surfaces during operation.
- Do not run cord under carpeting, throw rugs, or runners etc. Arrange cord away from areas where it is likely to be tripped over. Do not twist, kink, or wrap the cord around the appliance, as this may cause the insulation to weaken and split. Always ensure that the cord has been fully removed from any cord storage area before use.
- Do not store appliance in a box or closed space until it has cooled down sufficiently.
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
- Young children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
- The appliance must not be located immediately below a socket-outlet.
- Do not use this appliance with a programmer, timer, or any other device that switches the heater on automatically, since a fire risk exists if the appliance is covered or positioned incorrectly.
- Do not use near or in the immediate vicinity of a bath or swimming pool or any source of liquid.
- In order to avoid a hazard due to inadvertent resetting of the thermal cutout, this appliance must not be supplied through an external switching device, such as a timer, or connected to a circuit that is regularly switched on and off by the utility.
- A loose fitting outlet can cause the plug to overheat or cause a fire. Be sure plug fits tight in the outlet.
- If there is a loose fit between the plug and the socket or the plug becomes very hot, the socket may need to be replaced. Check with a qualified electrician to replace the socket.
- It is normal for the plug and cord to feel warm to the touch. A plug or cord which becomes hot to the touch or becomes distorted in shape may be a result of a worn electrical outlet. Worn outlets or receptacles should be replaced prior to further use of the heater. Plugging the heater into a worn outlet/receptacle may result in overheating of the power cord or fire.
- WARNING: This heater is not equipped with a device to control the room temperature. Do not use this heater in small rooms when they are occupied by persons not capable of leaving the room on their own, unless constant supervision is provided.
- CAUTION: Risk of Electric Shock. DO NOT open or try to repair the heater yourself.
- NOTE: There may be a trace of smoke or odor when the unit is first operated. This indicates that a drop of oil fell on the heating coil during the manufacturing process. It will quickly evaporate and should not re-occur.
Grounding Methods
Figure 68.1 illustrates grounding methods for the heater. It shows a standard three-prong plug (A) with a grounding pin. An adapter (C) is shown for connecting a three-prong plug to a two-slot receptacle. The adapter's green grounding lug must be connected to a permanent ground, such as a properly grounded outlet box, using a metal screw. A three-slot grounded receptacle (B, D) is also depicted.
