Fully functioning CD auto changer in trunk/hatch
Introduction
This easy to install Bluetooth hands-free, streaming and charging kit is essential to keeping your classic as stock possible with up-to-date Bluetooth features. The new BTH-JAG98 (formerly A2DIY-JAG98) sounds great for mobile conversations, streaming music applications, podcast and more. The NEW! wireless remote is used to pause, play, next/previous tracks, answer/end calls and switch sources and is easily mounted to dashboard with double side tape. In addition, the built-in USB port provides 5V/2.1A current to charge those power-hungry devices while on the road. Keep original radio and CD changer while enjoying Bluetooth features only available in newer cars. Note: The BTA-JAG98 does not interfere with functionality of existing AM/FM/radio and does require a functioning 6-disc auto changer.

Installation
1. For XJ: Remove carpet trim piece (liner) surrounding audio rack (See Fig. 1). If navigation is missing (Fig. 1A); use open space to access the CD changer connecting plug, however; if vehicle has navigation, accessing plug requires
unlocking the "inner frame": Remove (2) 7mm bolts on right and left side (See Fig. 1A, 1B) Remove (2) 7mm bolts from top (See Fig. 1A, 1B)

2. Pull inner frame out. 3. On CD changer, locate short black pigtail cable (it's the only cable on CD
changer) See Fig. 2

6. Connect factory male plug (left in Fig.3) to female connector on install harness (Fig. 4). Hold one cable in each hand, align markers (triangle) on both and push inward. (Do not twist to connect).

4. Remove cable from holding tab (See Fig. 2), and disconnect by pulling apart (do not twist)
5. Once disconnected; female (Seen on the right) leads to changer and male plug (left) leads to amplifier or radio - (See Fig. 3)

7. Connect 90-degree male plug (See Fig. 4a) to CD changer female socket (See Fig. 3/4)
Warning: The right-angle male plug on install harness (See Fig. 5) does not have an alignment marker; Use imaginary marker (triangle) shown in Fig. 4, align with market on female connector from CD auto changer (See Fig. 4) and push inward (do not twist)
Routing installation cable (Sedan)
1. Use pry tool to open gap between window pillar and rear deck as seen in Fig. 7. From inside trunk fish audio plug (See Fig. 6) through gap and into the cabin. (See Fig. 7) Avoid pulling or tugging on 16-pin plug.

Noteworthy:
There are multiple Ai-Net type plugs/sockets connections between audio rack components and more so in vehicles with premium sound (e.g., Amplifier, Navigation, etc.). In premium audio systems, install harness connects between CD changer and amplifier and in standard systems (no amplifier) between CD changer and radio.
To minimize connecting errors, locate single black pigtail on the CD auto changer (See Fig.4) Connecting the installation harness to something other than CD auto changer will result in low or no audio playback, no power to radio etc.
8. Route 6-pin plug from install harness toward center console (armrest/center glovebox) area.

Module installation
We recommend installing the module (See Fig. 11) in center armrest/glovebox (See Fig. 9) or if possible, behind the radio (your choice). This area beneath armrest is also home to factory phone plug and cigar lighter power supply. Both circuits include 12V switched supply wire to which you can power the module.

3. Continue fishing installation harness under center glove box and into storage bin area.
4. To remove storage bin: Open the center glove box and remove 2 Philips head screws from latch cover and two more from hinge then remove the single screw on retainer bracket.
5. Lift to remove storage bin and set aside. 6. Locate installation harness 8-pin female fed through in step 3 and
gently pull excess cable.
Note: The aforementioned steps apply to sedan (X308) X100 (convertibles) requires additional steps not part of this guide.

The factory phone plug is located under center armrest. Use chart below to locate switched wire on said connector/plug. Always test for proper voltage on specified wires prior to finalizing.

4. If vehicle does not have a phone plug; connect accessory wire to cigar lighter 12V supply wire under console: Cigar lighter 12V switch wire is usually white/blue.
Warning: Cigar lighter supply may introduce noise into the system especially if use to power a USB charging device, in which case consider an alternate (we recommend factory phone plug). If engine noise is still an issue, we recommend adding a noise filter or similar.
Playback options explained
There are two playback listings for this module. Proceed with install based on option selected at checkout. 1. Retain changer playback (default) 2. Auxiliary input (replaces CD playback--changer remains connected)
1. Retain changer playback:
Default option allows users to retain use of the 6-disc CD auto changer. Proceed to installation step 5 below.
2. AUX input (instead of CD playback):
Instead of being able to play CD's (from 6-disc changer); an AUX input jack is provided (See Fig. 13) to which users connect and play portable audio devices (e.g., sat radio, Alexa, iPod, Mp3 etc.)
Warning: Aux input option takes the place of CD playback. CD changer remains connected but playback will not be possible. The aux jack may be left freestanding or custom installed to dash or panel. To custom install: 1. Drill a ¼ inch hole to dashboard or panel 2. Insert aux jack through hole and secure with nut. (See Fig. 13)

5. Attach mic with mounting bracket to headliner, sun visor or anywhere on the dash/console near driver and away from ventilation ducts etc.
6. Route mic cable down pillar, under dashboard and center console into center armrest where you have installed the module.
7. Connect mic right angle plug to "MIC" input jack on module (See Fig. 15)
Optional USB extension cable installation
Note: 1. Optional 6 ft. USB dash mount extension cable is not required for operation, however it extends USB power port (See Fig. 18) to dashboard, glovebox etc.
2. The USB port (See Fig. 18) supports charging and software updates only
1. Drill a ¾" hole to dash or panel using a step drill bit or equivalent (See Fig. 16) As an alternative; use the included bracket (See Fig. 20a) to mount USB without drilling.

Pairing module
Pairing varies among devices but basic steps are the same. This process is done upon initial install and will not have to be repeated
1. Turn ignition and radio "ON" 2. From your Bluetooth enabled device, turn the Bluetooth ON and search
for Bluetooth devices. 3. When a list of available Bluetooth devices appears on your Bluetooth
device, select "DisCarSt" (See Fig. 21) 4. Confirmation "tone" is heard on car speakers. 5. The unit will automatically enter the BT Audio source and you can now
start streaming audio from your Bluetooth enabled device. Note: If the mobile phone doesn't support SSP (Simple Secure Pairing) Profile, please enter the pass code of "0000"

Bluetooth operation
1. Turn ignition to "ACC" or "ON" and turn on the radio. 2. Press "CD" button on radio to switch to Bluetooth mode 1. Launch smartphone music streaming application 2. Use remote control (See Fig. 22) or device built-in controls or touch
screen to for track selection, adjust volume, pause/play etc. 3. Place phone call or ask someone to call. To answer call; tap Previous
track on remote control. 4. To end call, tap Next track remote control. 5. To switch to CD changer/AUX, tap; Pause/Play button 6. To switch back to streaming; tap Pause/Play button 7. If correct operation is confirmed go ahead and reinstall radio.
Note: To adjust volume use tap/release action instead of tap and hold

Frequently ask question and troubleshooting
1. What is the difference between the BTH-JAG98 and BTH-JAG98R? The BTH-JAG98R connects to the radio and applicable to standard audio system in 1997*-99 XK and XJ and 2000-06 XK and 2000-03 XJ. The BTHJAG98 works in same vehicle but with Premium Audio systems. Note: 2000+ vehicles with Premium Audio system (amplifier in trunk-- See Fig. 23) require our BTH-JAG98. To be clear, 2000-03 XJ and 200006 XK premium audio (amplifier in trunk) requires the BTH-JAG98.

YES; pairing multiple devices is possible, however only one device can connect at a time. Disconnect first device to allow pairing to another device. 3. Will I be able to use both music and Navigation apps at the same time? YES! When streaming and Navigating (e.g., Waze etc.); music will mute during navigation guidance and return to previous state when guidance ends. If a call is made or received, both Navigation guidance and streaming are muted until call is ended.
4. After installing and testing the system everything works, but there is engine "whine". (Increases with RPM) What can I do to fix this? Ensure all connections are snug. If powering module with cigar lighter: remove any charging (e.g., USB) device from cigar lighter port. Relocate accessory wire (see phone plug chart on page 5) Install suitable noise filter.
5. How can I listen to the CD changer or AUX device? To listen to CD's or AUX, tap play/pause button on remote or pause play on audio device touch screen.
6. Can I connect the BTH-JAG98 to the back of the radio? NO; the BTH-JAG98 harness plugs into the CD changer plug in luggage compartment or hatch and the module installs beneath armrest.
7. What is the vehicle application and where does audio module connect? The BTH-JAG98 is specific to the following Jaguar vehicles: 1997*-03 (x308) (To CD changer plug in luggage compartment) 1997*-06 (x100) (To CD changer plug in luggage compartment)
8. I hear clicking sounds as I use my device, how can I stop this? Go to device settings and disable touch sounds.
9. My module does not always pair when entering vehicle. How to I remedy this? Module may not pair if already paired to another device (last connected device). Should this happen, check that no other device has already paired, turn ignition off and back on or disable/re-enable Bluetooth on device.
10. Playback is distorted, how do I fix this? One likely cause for distorted playback is high volume setting on audio device. To fix, turn radio volume up to comfortable level, then lower volume on device until it no longer distorts.
11. Callers can hear me, but I can't hear them- why? One likely reason is the Smartphone call volume is set too low. Please raise call volume level on your device to comfortable level.
12. Does this kit mute the radio (AM/FM) when calls are made or received? NO. This module does not mute the speakers if radio is in AM/FM mode. When phone rings, press "CD" button on radio to switch to Bluetooth mode. Your smart device will mute speakers if radio is in "CD" mode (Bluetooth mode).
13. Does it integrate to the steering control or does it have a separate pad? Steering wheel controls do not apply. Use included remote to control select Bluetooth functions (skip, answer/reject calls, volume etc.)
14. Do I need to connect a microphone or does it integrate the factory installed microphone? The included microphone must be installed. Optional wire harness may be available in the future to allow use of the factory mic. See product page for details.
15. Does call number, song name etc. show on the display? NO. Radio does not display callers name, number or song text.
16. How to I install this module in a convertible (XK)? The first step after removing the carpet panel is to move aside the hydraulic pump for the convertible top. Only two T30 screws on the front corners hold that in place, the back corners have rubber plugs that pull right out. My stereo rack was held in place with 10mm hex bolts on the four bottom corners, plus the stud post on the back. I found that with the hydraulic pump removed, I could tilt the rack back enough to access the connectors from under the CD changer without having to unbolt the stud post. I connected the pigtail coming from the CD changer to the unit, and the unit to the other side of the connector that had been plugged into the pigtail. To get the provided piggyback fuse holder to fit in the rear fuse box I had to grind away a little bit of plastic on either side, as it was too wide to fit otherwise. (slot #3)
17. No audio playback or plays on only one side, the Cd changer does not respond to "CD" button and there is no power to the Cd changer. What could be causing this? - Check that factory CD plug (See Fig. 4) fit snugly to harness connector (Refer to page 3-4). - Inspect the harness female connector pins (Fig.4). The base may need "adjusting" especially if factory male plug has become rigid and pins no longer "flex" especially if it has never been disconnected and over time has developed a memory position due to changes in temperature etc. To remedy the no power or "CD" button not responding issue: Use a flat head screwdriver (largest able to fit) and wedge between the pin base holder and flex (push) upward or as seen in Fig. 24. To remedy the no sound on one of all sides
Repeat above on the other pin holder tab Flexing both pin holder allows for a firmer connection with factory plug. This is a one-time adjustment that will not have to be repeated and only applicable if factory plug has "hardened" over time.

18. 'm experimenting annoying engine noise (alternator whine that increases with engine speed) Is there a fix for this? We recommend installing our in-line BT63-NF (See Fig. 25) noise filter. This plug-nplay noise filter fits between the radio harness and module. Click here to purchase.
