Strava Splint Bath
Innovation Guide

OPC HEALTH

A state-of-the-art, first-of-its-kind splint bath precisely engineered to remove the guesswork and help prevent contamination.

Note: Smart and basic models have different feature sets.

Dual Disinfection System

99.9% kill rate

1. Effective Sterilization with Ultraviolet-C (Smart)

Ultraviolet-C wavelength at 254nm, sometimes called the "germicidal" light, kills viruses and bacteria by breaking the molecular bonds and is widely used to safely and effectively disinfect drinking water. An illustration shows water flowing through a UV-C light source, indicating 100% of the water filters through UV-C light.

2. High-Heat Sanitation Cycle (Smart)

Set high heat disinfection to run nightly and manually at any time. The unit will heat the water to a high temperature (~ 185º F/85° C) to kill microbes. An illustration depicts the unit heating water, with a thermometer showing a high temperature.

Rapid Water Evacuation

Drainage is quick and easy for cleaning and water replacement. For safety, it will not drain unless the water temperature is below 165° F/74° C. A diagram shows a hose connected to the unit for draining water, labeled 'DRAINING'.

A Systematic Approach to Infection Prevention

UVC Light Effectiveness

Graphs illustrate the reduction of microorganisms over time with UVC light. E. coli and S. epidermidis are significantly reduced, with near-complete elimination achieved within 60 minutes.

High Heat Sanitation Effectiveness

Graphs show the effectiveness of high heat sanitation against MS2 and M. terrae. High temperatures rapidly reduce microbial counts, demonstrating effective sanitation.

The Light Spectrum

The ultraviolet spectrum, specifically UVC wavelengths between 100-280 nm, is crucial for killing viruses and bacteria.

Auto On/Off

It's Always On Time

Automatically preheats the water to reach a set temperature at a set time. The unit is ready when your clinic opens and is energy efficient at night when not in use. The screen displays the 'AUTO ON/OFF' settings, allowing users to set the auto-off time and select days of the week.

Heating Technology

Traditional wire-wound heating elements coil beneath the unit, producing thermal lag, uneven heating (hot and cold spots), and inaccurate temperatures. Strava's unique internal heat exchanger is immersed directly in the circulating-water basin, ensuring fast heating, minimal thermal lag, and uniform heat distribution. This occurs without losing heat while the lid is open.

Fast – 25 minutes to reach set water temperature with uniform heat distribution.

Temperature Control and Accuracy

An internal temperature control system allows temperature monitoring in real-time at extremely close tolerances. An image shows the Strava Splint Bath unit with its lid open, displaying the internal heat exchanger and the control panel showing time and temperature. A visual representation of heat distribution shows uniform warming.

Visual Timer & Audible Alert

Traditional splint bath controls are antiquated and imprecise, forcing clinicians to estimate time and temperature while checking splint material for readiness. The Strava Splint Bath helps you keep track of time with audible/visual timer alerts at thirty and ten seconds. You can manually add or change time and temperature on the fly. The unit's screen displays the current time and temperature, with icons indicating audio alerts and countdown timers.

Alert & Countdown

Provides visual and audible alerts at 30-second and 10-second intervals.

Thermoplastic Presets (Smart)

Recommended time and temperature presets are available from top manufacturers like allard, manoSPLINT, North Coast, orfit, and rolyan. You can also create your own custom presets on the LCD touch screen. The screen shows the Strava Splint Bath interface with logos of compatible thermoplastic brands and options to create custom presets.
