Warranty and Service

JET warrants every product it sells against manufacturers' defects. For service or repair, contact Technical Service by calling 1-800-274-6846, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM CST.

Warranty Period

The general warranty period is specified in the product literature or on the official JET website. JET products carry a limited warranty that varies by product. Accessories have a one-year limited warranty from the date of receipt. Consumable items are covered by a 90-day limited warranty against manufacturer's defects.

Who is Covered

This warranty covers only the initial purchaser of the product from the date of delivery.

What is Covered

This warranty covers defects in workmanship or materials, subject to limitations. It does not cover failures due to misuse, abuse, negligence, accidents, normal wear-and-tear, improper repair, alterations, or lack of maintenance. JET woodworking machinery is designed for use with wood. Using these machines for metal, plastics, or other materials outside recommended guidelines may void the warranty, except for acrylics and other natural items specified for wood turning.

Warranty Limitations

Woodworking products used for commercial or industrial purposes with a Five Year Warranty default to a Two Year Warranty. Contact Technical Service at 1-800-274-6846 for clarification.

How to Get Technical Support

Contact Technical Service at 1-800-274-6846. Proof of initial purchase is required. For product inspection, a Technical Service representative will provide guidance. JET has Authorized Service Centers across the United States. Use the Service Center Locator on the JET website or call to find a center near you.

Some states do not allow limitations on implied warranty duration, so the above limitation may not apply. JET is not liable for death, injuries to persons or property, or for incidental, contingent, special, or consequential damages arising from product use. 12. Do not overreach. Maintain proper footing and balance at all times.
  13. Turn the machine off and unplug from the power source before changing spindles.
  14. Ensure the spindle drum is in good condition with no tears or holes before operating the sander.
  15. Disconnect tools before servicing and when changing accessories like blades, bits, or cutters.
  16. Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the “OFF” position before plugging in the power cord.
  17. Never stand on the tool. Serious injury could occur if the tool tips or if the cutting tool is accidentally contacted.
  18. Check damaged parts. Before further use, any damaged guard or part should be carefully checked for proper operation and function. Verify alignment of moving parts, binding, breakage, mounting, and any other conditions affecting operation. Damaged parts should be properly repaired or replaced.
  19. Do not operate the tool under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.
  20. Shut off power before servicing or adjusting.
  21. Never leave the tool running unattended. Turn the power off and do not leave until the tool comes to a complete stop.

Unpacking and Setup

Contents of the Shipping Container

Verify all items against the following list:

Contact your distributor or JET if any parts are missing. Do not discard shipping material until the sander is set up and running properly. Report any damage to your local distributor and/or the shipping company.

Exposed metal surfaces, including spindles, are coated with a protectant. Clean these surfaces with a mild solvent or kerosene. Do not use lacquer thinner, paint thinner, or gasoline, as these can damage painted surfaces. Periodically apply paste wax or other protectant to the table top to prevent rusting.

Spindle and Insert Storage Plates

Refer to Figure 2. Clean the insert plates and place unused inserts into Storage Plate B. Place spindles into the opposite Storage Plate A.

Figure 2: Diagram showing the sander with labels A and B pointing to storage plates.

Installing Spindles

  1. Before inserting the threaded spindle into the spindle housing, ensure surfaces are clean.
  2. Thread the spindle counterclockwise into the spindle housing.
  3. Using the provided wrenches, tighten the spindle nut (A, Figure 3) counterclockwise while holding the spindle housing flat (B, Figure 3) with the other wrench. NOTE: Do not overtighten the spindle, as it may be difficult to remove after sanding.

Figure 3: Diagram showing spindle installation with labels A for spindle nut and B for spindle housing.

Insert Plates

  1. Always use an insert plate.
  2. The machine includes 2 oblong and 2 round insert plates. The oblong plates are used when the table is tilted for bevel sanding. Each plate has a notch on the outer edge for proper insertion. Refer to page 9 to determine which insert plate to use with a specific spindle.

Setup for 90°

  1. Loosen both knobs (A, Figure 4) and position the table at the 0° setting.
  2. Place a square (B, Figure 4) on the table, resting its long section against the sanding drum. The square should be flat against both the table and the sanding drum.
  3. If table adjustment is needed, loosen both knobs and tilt the table until the square is flat against the table and sanding drum.
  4. Ensure the pointer (C, Figure 4) reads 0°. If adjustment is needed, loosen the screw (D, Figure 4) and adjust to the correct position.
  5. Loosen the lock nut (F, Figure 4). Adjust the 90° stop bolt (E, Figure 4) with a 13mm open wrench so it rests against the bottom of the table, then re-tighten the lock nut (F, Figure 4) with a 12mm open wrench.

Figure 4: Diagram showing table setup for 90° with labels A, B, C, D, E, F.

Setup for Bevel Sanding

  1. Loosen both knobs (A, Figure 5) and adjust the table to the desired angle.
  2. Tighten both knobs.

Figure 5: Diagram showing the sander with dust port labeled B.

Dust Collection

The dust port (B, Figure 5) can be connected directly to a 2" hose for dust collection. Consult your local JET distributor for dust collectors, hoses, and accessories. Optimize performance with JET dust hoods, hoses, clamps, fittings, and blast gates.

Turning the Sander On & Off

Note: Before connecting to the power source, ensure the switch is in the off position. The sander can be turned on by flipping the switch to the on position. A removable key in the switch tip can be removed when the sander is off; this prevents the dust collector from being used.

Removing Spindles

Using the provided wrenches, loosen the spindle nut (A, Figure 6) clockwise while holding the spindle housing flat (B, Figure 6) with the other wrench.

Figure 6: Diagram showing spindle nut (A) and spindle housing (B) for removal.

Changing Sanding Sleeves

1/4", 1/2" and 5/8" Sleeves

  1. Loosen the clamp (A, Figure 7) with a Phillips head screwdriver.
  2. Remove the sanding sleeve from the spindle shaft.
  3. Install the new sleeve, ensuring the clamp is re-tightened.

1-1/2" and 2" Sleeves (optional 3")

  1. Loosen the nut (B, Figure 7) with the provided wrench.
  2. Remove the sanding sleeve from the spindle shaft.
  3. Reverse these steps to install the new sanding sleeve.
