Please read all directions, safety instructions, and warranty information before use.

Safety Instructions

Important Safeguards

WARNING: When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including:

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY

WARNING: This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way or force it into the outlet. This could result in injury or electric shock.

Short Cord Instructions

A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards of entanglement or tripping over a longer cord. Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If a longer detachable power-supply extension cord is used:

  1. The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance.
  2. The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

Power Cord Safety Tips

DO NOT OPERATE THE APPLIANCE IF THE POWER CORD SHOWS ANY DAMAGE OR IF THE APPLIANCE WORKS INTERMITTENTLY OR STOPS WORKING ENTIRELY.

Do not place the appliance on a stovetop or any other heatable surface, even if stovetop is not on. Doing so is a fire hazard.

Operating Instructions

Before First Use

  1. Remove all packaging materials and check that all parts and accessories are accounted for.
  2. Read and remove any stickers on the unit, except for the rating label on the bottom.
  3. Wipe down the interior and exterior with a damp cloth. Wash the basket and basket rack with warm, soapy water. Dry thoroughly.

How to Cook in the Air Fryer

The air fryer's high-speed fan cooks food quickly. The rack in the basket allows air circulation for even cooking and crisping, and lets excess fat drip away for healthier eating.

CAUTION: Never fill the basket with oil. Air fryers require little to no oil. If using oil, toss foods with a small amount in a separate bowl before cooking.

  1. Prepare the food(s) you plan to air fry.
  2. Place the air fryer on a hard, flat surface with at least 6 inches of clearance on the top and back for proper air flow. CAUTION: Never put the unit on a stovetop, even if the stove is off.
  3. Plug the unit in. The control panel will illuminate, and the default temperature and time will alternate on the display.
  4. Lower the basket rack into the basket with the arrows pointing to the front (handle side) and back of the basket. Press down on the rack to ensure it is secure and level. There should be a small space between the rack and the bottom of the basket. (Pinch the center grip bar with your thumb and index finger for easiest handling.) Place food on the rack. Do not fill the basket past the MAX line to allow for good air circulation.
  5. CAUTION: Never use aerosol spray on the air fryer's nonstick parts as it can cause the coating to chip. You can spray the nonstick coating with oil from a mister.
  6. Slide the basket into the air fryer.
  7. Set the time and temperature as desired or use the cooking preset functions. To set temperature, press TIME/TEMP button until temperature displays, then press plus or minus. To set time, press TIME/TEMP button until time displays, then press plus or minus. If using presets, choose the icon that best represents the food and press it. This sets the pre-programmed time and temperature (see Chart on p. 10).
  8. Press START. The fan will come on, and circular dashes on the display will animate.
  9. NOTE: During cooking, you can remove the basket to check, turn, or shake foods. When you return the basket, the timer and heating will resume. CAUTION: Do not look directly into the heating element light for long periods.
  10. During cooking, the SHAKE light will turn on, and the air fryer will beep as a reminder to shake (or flip) food. (See Chart on p. 13 for timing details.) The light turns off when the basket is removed and goes off automatically after about 15 seconds if the basket is not pulled out. (Ignore the warning if your food does not need shaking, flipping, or turning.)
  11. When the timer is done, the air fryer will turn off automatically. Remove the basket. Check food for doneness, then carefully transfer food to plates or a platter and serve.
  12. NOTE: On first use, the unit may emit a slight odor, which is normal and will dissipate with use.

Air Fryer Cooking Tips

Troubleshooting

Why is there white smoke coming from my unit?

White smoke can indicate too much fat. Avoid very fatty foods like sausages. Ensure the basket, rack, and interior are clean before cooking.

Why has my food cooked unevenly?

This is likely due to overcrowding or not shaking. Fill the basket loosely to allow air circulation, and shake, toss, or flip foods at least once during cooking.

Why isn't my food crisp?

Coating foods lightly with oil (about 1/2 teaspoon per batch) helps guarantee crisp results. Preheating the air fryer also aids crispiness.

Why is the unit displaying an error code?

If your air fryer displays E1 or E2, it indicates a loose wire contact or short circuit. The unit will not function. Contact Chefman™ Customer Support for a replacement.

Cleaning and Maintenance

The nonstick coating on the basket and rack makes cleaning easy.

  1. Unplug the unit and let it cool completely before cleaning. (Remove the hot basket for faster cooling.)
  2. To remove the cooled rack, pinch the center grip bar at the bottom of the basket, then pull the rack straight up and out. WARNING: Do not lift the rack out of the basket when hot, or injury can occur.
  3. Wash the basket and rack with warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry well. The basket and rack are also top-rack dishwasher safe. Do not use window cleaner on the window.
  4. Wipe down the outside and inside of the unit with a damp cloth as needed. Do not put the unit in the dishwasher or submerge it in water or any other liquid.
  5. Do not use abrasive cleansers, as they can damage the finishes.
