Laney TI100 Tony Iommi Signature Guitar Amplifier Head
This user manual provides comprehensive information for the Laney TI100 Tony Iommi Signature Guitar Amplifier Head. It covers front panel controls, rear panel functions, connections, quick start settings, block diagrams, specifications, and important safety precautions.
Front Panel Controls
The front panel features the following controls:
- INPUT: 1/4" mono jack for guitar connection.
- PRE-BOOST: Controls the boost level applied to the guitar signal, independently for each channel.
- DRIVE: Controls the amount of preamp gain/distortion.
- EQ CONTROLS (BASS, MIDDLE, TREBLE): Passive tone controls that allow for interactive tonal shaping.
- VOLUME: Controls the output level for each channel.
- ENHANCE: A tone control for the output stage, affecting high frequencies.
- PRESENCE: Controls the amp's response to low frequencies.
- CHANNEL SWITCH: Switches between Lead and Rhythm channels. An LED indicates the active channel.
- STANDBY SWITCH: Allows the tubes to remain warm while the amp is not in use, facilitating quick re-engagement.
- POWER SWITCH: The main power switch for the unit. Vacuum tube amplifiers require a warm-up period (30 seconds to 2 minutes) after power-up.
Rear Panel Functions
The rear panel includes:
- MAIN POWER SOCKET: Connects to the mains power supply. Ensure the voltage matches your region. Includes a spare fuse in the drawer.
- HT FUSE: Protects the amplifier's high voltage DC power supply to the tubes. Replace only with the specified fuse type and rating.
- BIAS SWITCH: Allows selection between EL34 and 6L6 output tubes. Ensure the switch is set correctly for the installed tubes.
- POWER AMP IN / PRE AMP OUT: Preamp output for driving other amplifiers or mixing desks. Power amp input bypasses the preamp section when a jack is connected.
- FX LOOP: For connecting external effects units. Features SEND and RETURN jacks. Includes SIDECHAIN, INSERT, and BYPASS modes for flexible routing.
- FOOTSWITCH: A 5-pin DIN socket for connecting the included FS4-TI footswitch to control channel switching, boost functions, etc.
- SYM LINK: Allows linking multiple amplifiers for synchronized channel switching and control.
- SPEAKERS: Five 1/4" jack sockets for connecting speaker cabinets with various impedance ratings (1x4Ω, 2x8Ω, 1x8Ω, 2x16Ω, 1x16Ω). WARNING: Never operate the amplifier without a speaker load connected.
Quick Start Settings
Suggested settings for Clean, Crunch, and Lead tones are provided as a starting point. Adjust VOLUME to your desired level.
Block Diagram
A block diagram illustrates the internal signal flow of the amplifier, showing the path through pre-amplification, EQ, effects loop, and power amplification stages.
