Safety Instructions

Danger for children and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities (e.g., persons with partial physical disabilities, elderly persons with reduced physical and mental abilities) or lack of experience and knowledge (e.g., older children).

  • This product may be used by children aged 14 and over. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by children without supervision.
  • Packaging material is not a toy. Do not let children play with the packaging film. They could get caught and suffocate.
  • Ensure that children do not play with small parts (memory card). If you suspect that a small part has been swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
  • Store small parts out of reach of children and animals. CAUTION!

Danger of injury! Improper handling of the product can lead to injury.

  • In case of unusual noises or smells, as well as smoke from the housing, immediately remove the battery and, if applicable, the charging cable. WARNING! Danger of property damage!
  • Never place the appliance on hot surfaces (e.g., hot plates, etc.) or near open flames. Never expose the appliance to high temperatures (heating, etc.).
  • Never pour liquids into the device.
  • Do not use a steam cleaner for cleaning.
  • Do not use the device if plastic or metal parts of the device are cracked or deformed.
  • Handle the device with care. Impacts, drops, or vibrations can damage the device.
  • If the product is not used for a long time, remove the battery to prevent damage from battery leakage.
  • Do not modify the device in any way.
  • Never open the housing, but leave repairs to specialists. For this purpose, contact a specialized service center. Liability and warranty claims are excluded in case of independent repairs, incorrect connection, or incorrect operation.
  • Do not use the device if it shows visible damage or defects.
  • If the device is not in use, not being cleaned, or if a malfunction occurs, always switch it off, remove the battery, and disconnect all connections.
  • In case of problems with the product caused by static discharge, switch off the device and switch it back on after approximately 10 seconds.

Battery Warning

  • Do not disassemble, puncture, or pierce the battery and be careful not to short-circuit the battery. Do not expose the battery to high temperatures. Do not continue to use the battery if it is leaking or expanding.
  • Always charge using the system. There is a risk of explosion if the battery is replaced with an incorrect type.
  • Keep the battery out of reach of children.
  • Rechargeable batteries can explode on contact with open flames. Never throw rechargeable batteries into a fire.
  • Observe local regulations when disposing of used batteries.
  • Before disposing of the device, remove the rechargeable battery and dispose of it separately.

First Steps

Inserting the Battery

  • Turn off the camera and open the battery compartment cover. Insert the battery by sliding the battery latch to the side and sliding the battery into the compartment. Ensure the battery contacts match the contacts in the camera. If the battery is inserted incorrectly, the battery compartment and latch will not close.
  • To remove the battery, slide the latch to the side and gently pull the flap attached to the battery.

Charging the Battery

  • Charge the camera using the supplied USB-C cable with an adapter (5.0 V 2.0 A) or connect it directly to a computer.
  • When the battery is charging, the charging indicator lights up red.
  • When the battery is fully charged, the charging indicator turns off automatically.

Turning On/Off

Press the power button. Note: The lens will extend after turning on the camera.

Camera Settings

Press the Menu button to enter the camera menu:

  • Photo Mode Settings
  • Video Mode Settings
  • System Settings

Language Settings

  1. Turn on the camera, press the Menu button, and enter the menu.
  2. Press the right button twice to enter system settings.
  3. Select the "Language" option and confirm your selection by pressing the OK button.

Date and Time Settings

  1. Turn on the camera and open the system settings menu by pressing the Menu button, then press the right button twice.
  2. Select "Set Date" to set the date and time, and confirm your selection by pressing the OK button.
  3. Use the Up/Down buttons to change parameter values and the Left/Right buttons to switch between parameters. Note that the date is displayed in the following format.
  4. After entering the correct details, press the OK button.

Memory Card

Inserting and Formatting a Memory Card

For normal use, a memory card with a maximum capacity of 64 GB and a speed class of U1 or higher is recommended.

  • Open the battery cover and insert the memory card until you hear a "click" sound.
  • To remove the memory card, open the cover and insert the memory card; the card will eject automatically.

Formatting a Memory Card

It is important to format the memory card when using this digital camera for the first time. All data, including protected files, will be erased. Remember to save important files to your computer before formatting.

  1. Turn on the camera and open the system settings menu.
  2. In the settings menu, select the "Format" option and confirm your selection by pressing the OK button.

System Settings

System settings allow you to perform basic camera configurations.

Wi-Fi

  • Turn on the Wi-Fi hotspot on the camera and control it using your smartphone.

Auto Power Off

  • You can set the time after which the camera will turn off when idle. You can choose from options of 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or Off.

Language

  • You can choose from the following system languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Czech, Slovak, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, and Finnish.

Frequency

  • You can set the frequency to 50 Hz or 60 Hz.

Sound Settings

  • Here you can set the startup sound, startup sound, and volume.

Date Settings

  • Set the date and time. For more information, see the "Date and Time Settings" section.

Formatting

  • Format the inserted SD card.
  • For more information, see the "Formatting a Memory Card" section.

Note: Formatting will erase all information on the SD card. Make sure it is saved elsewhere.

Settings

Shooting Mode Settings

The following settings can be made for shooting modes.

Resolution

  • Image resolution settings. Choose from 64MP* (9200 x 6900), 32MP* (6480 x 4860), 16MP* (4608 x 3456), and 8MP (3264 x 2448).
  • In continuous shooting/burst shooting mode, the image resolution is 8 MP (3264 x 2448).

Quality

  • You can choose between Extra Fine, Fine, and Normal.
  • This setting is not available in filter mode.

AWB (Auto White Balance)

  • Automatic white balance setting. You can choose from options: Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Incandescent, Shade.
  • This setting is not available in Scene, Burst/Shooting, Filter, and Full Auto modes.

ISO

Set the ISO sensitivity to Auto, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, or 3200.

  • This setting is not available in Scene, Burst/Shooting, Filter, and Auto modes.

Metering

  • Set metering to Center-weighted, Selective, or Spot.
  • This setting is not available in Burst/Shot, Filter, and Full Auto modes.

AF Assist Light

The AF assist light turns on automatically in dark conditions when set to Auto, to help the camera focus.

  • This setting is not available in Burst/Shot and Filter modes.

AE-L & AF-L

Defines the AE/AF lock function to prevent refocusing. You can set AE-L, AF-L, or AE-L&AF-L.

  • This setting is not available in Scene, Burst/Shooting, Filter, and Auto modes.
  • AE-L: Pressing the AE/AF lock button locks exposure after a single measurement.
  • AF-L: Pressing the AE/AF lock button locks focus after a single measurement.
  • AE-L&AF-L: When the AE/AF lock button is pressed, exposure and focus are locked after a single measurement.

More Settings

Guide Lines

  • Adjust the guide lines on the preview display. These lines help compose the image.

Image Stabilization

  • By turning image stabilization on or off, you minimize image blur.

Date Stamp

  • Turn the date stamp on or off for snapshots.

Note: The date stamp cannot be removed from the image later.

Preview

  • The captured photo is displayed on the screen for 2 or 5 seconds. Preview can also be turned off.

Color

  • In filter mode, you can enhance color tones in images or apply color effects. The following 13 options are available: Standard, Red Color Enhancement, Green Color Enhancement, Blue Color Enhancement, Orange Color Enhancement, Yellow Color Enhancement, Purple Color Enhancement, Sepia, Monochrome, Pencil, Vivid.
  • This setting is only available in filter mode.

Scene Mode

  • In scene mode, you can choose from 10 preset scenes: Auto Scene, Landscape, Portrait, Sport, Night Portrait, Night Landscape, Party, Sunset, Backlight, High Sensitivity.

Video Mode Settings

The Video Shooting Settings menu allows you to make settings for video recording.

Resolution

  • Available resolutions include 4K, 2K (2560x1440) at 24 fps, 1080p (1920x1080) at 60 fps, 1080p (1920x1080) at 30 fps, or 720p (1280x720) at 60 fps.

Date Stamp

The date is displayed in the video.

Note: The date stamp cannot be removed from the image later.

Time-lapse Video

  • You can choose between Off, 1 second, 3 seconds, and 5 seconds.

Audio Recording Sensitivity

  • You can choose between Soft, Normal, and Hard options.

Using the Camera

After turning on the camera, it defaults to photo shooting mode.

Turn the mode dial to select a shooting mode.

Manual Exposure (M)

In Manual Exposure (M) mode, you can set exposure times different from the selected ones:

  • In manual exposure mode, you can set the aperture and shutter speed yourself. In this mode, set the values by pressing the OK button. Use the Up and Down buttons to set the aperture. Use the Right and Left buttons to set the exposure time.
  • After setting the values, press the OK button.

Automatic Shutter Speed (Av)

  • In this mode, the shutter speed is set automatically. You can set the aperture by pressing the OK button. Use the Up and Down buttons to change values.

Aperture Priority (Tv)

  • In this mode, the aperture is set automatically. You can set the shutter speed by pressing the OK button. Use the Up and Down buttons to change values.

Program Auto (P)

  • All settings are adjusted automatically.

Scene Mode (SCN)

  • In this mode, you can choose from various scenarios. Settings are automatically applied as camera presets.
Scenes
  • Auto Scene - Fully automatic mode for simple shooting.
  • Landscape - Ideal for landscape photography.
  • Portrait - For shooting portraits with a soft background.
  • Sport - For photographing fast-moving objects in bright conditions.
  • Night Portrait - For photographing portraits in low light. Flash is recommended.
  • Night Landscape - For shooting in dark environments.
  • Party - For environments with ambient light, such as candlelight, etc.
  • Sunset - For photographing sunsets.
  • Backlight - For shooting with backlight.
  • High Sensitivity - For shooting with a low number of light sources.

Continuous Shooting / Burst Shooting

  • Select this mode for continuous shooting. 3 sequential shots are taken at once.

Fully Automatic Mode

  • In Full Auto mode, the camera automatically makes all settings based on the captured image.

Filter Mode

  • Choose from 13 filters for your photos. Filters can be selected in the shooting mode settings menu; see "Shooting Mode Settings - Color".
  • After selecting the desired mode, press the Menu button and select the desired settings for that mode.
  • Press the shutter button to take a photo, which will be automatically saved to the memory card.
  • Press the video recording button to record a video.
  • Press the recording button again to stop recording.

Zoom Control (T/W)

  • When autofocus (AF) is set, turn the zoom control to the right to zoom in. Turn the zoom control to the left to zoom out.
  • If manual focus (MF) is set, refer to the "Focus Settings" section: use the zoom dial to adjust focus. Zoom is inactive in manual focus.
  • In playback mode, use the zoom control to zoom in or out.

Charging/Operation Indicator

  • The operation indicator flashes during recording.

Display Button (DISP)

  • The display button is used to turn the display on or off and to show additional exposure information.

ISO Setting (ISO)

  • The ISO setting button is used to set ISO values for exposure.

Exposure Value Selection (Ev)

  • In photography modes, you can set the light value here.
  • In video recording mode, you can stop and restart recording.

Self-Timer Button

  • Press the self-timer button to set the self-timer. You can choose from 2, 5, and 10 seconds.

Focus Setting

Use the focus button to select one of the following focus settings:

  • AF Macro (automatic macro focusing)
  • MF Macro (Macro shot with manual focusing)
  • AF (Automatic Focusing)
  • MF (Manual Focusing)

Flash and Playback

Fill Light/Flash Usage

  • Fill light is used not only for shooting in low light but also when the subject is in shadow or backlight. Pressing the fill light/flash button allows you to switch between different modes.
  • Use the fill light/flash button to set the flash. Settings are displayed on the screen.
  • Remember that when using the flash, you need to manually extend it beforehand.

Note: If the fill light is in automatic flash mode, the flash will only function when shooting in dark environments. After extending the flash, it will automatically retract.

Playback

  • Press the Playback button to enter playback mode.
  • To exit playback mode, press the Play button again.
  • Use the right and left buttons to navigate through images and videos.
  • Press the Display button to show or hide image information.
  • Press the Zoom In button to zoom in.
  • Press the Delete button to delete selected shots.
  • Press the Menu button to open the playback settings menu.

Playback Settings Menu

In the playback settings menu, you can make the following settings:

Slideshow

  • You can start a slideshow here. You can also set the interval duration to 3, 5, or 10 seconds, as well as slideshow repetition.

Lock

  • You can lock photos before deleting them. You can choose whether to lock one photo or all photos. You can unlock using "Unlock One" or "Unlock All".

Delete Page

  • Deletes the currently displayed photo or all photos on the SD card.

Connectivity

Connecting to a Computer

After connecting the camera to a computer, you can transfer images directly to the computer, charge the camera, or use it as a webcam.

  • Using the supplied USB cable, connect the camera's USB-C port to the computer's USB port.
  • The camera will turn on automatically, and available options will be displayed on the screen.
  • Use the Up/Down buttons to select the desired option and then confirm it by pressing the OK button.

Charging Mode

  • If you do not select MSDC or PC Camera mode, the camera will charge automatically.

Mass Storage Mode

  • By selecting "MSDC", you recognize the camera as a drive on your computer and can transfer data. Note: Files can only be transferred from the memory card to the computer.

PC Camera

  • Select "PC Camera" mode. The camera can be used as a webcam, for live streaming, etc. Note: When the camera is used as a PC camera, you cannot use zoom or make settings.

Wi-Fi Setup/Control via App

You can connect the camera to your smartphone using the built-in Wi-Fi function.

  • For this purpose, download the free application "VD Cam" from the App Store or Google Play Store and install it on your smartphone.
  • Turn on the camera and go to system settings via "Menu". In the "WiFi" submenu, turn on the Wi-Fi function. The camera's display will show the SSID and password.
  • Then connect the camera to your smartphone by going to your smartphone's WLAN settings, selecting the camera's network, and connecting.
  • Open the "VD Cam" application. The camera name will appear on your smartphone's display. Tap the name to display the camera image on your smartphone. You can now control the camera remotely via your smartphone and make settings.

Note: The application can be used to press the shutter button. Settings, mode selection, and zoom must be performed on the camera.

Note: Remote camera control is only possible via the smartphone application. A separately available remote shutter release is not available.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  1. If you will not be using the camera for an extended period, remove the battery and store it in a dry, dust-free environment at a temperature up to 30 °C.
  2. To extend battery life, fully discharge it before storage.
  3. After fully charging the battery, discharge it completely at least once every 3 months.
  4. If there is dust or dirt on the lens or screen, gently wipe them with a clean, soft cleaning cloth.
  5. This is a precision instrument; do not drop it or expose it to strong impacts or vibrations.

Disposal

Dispose of the packaging according to its type. Utilize local collection options for paper, cardboard, and other materials (applies in the European Union and other European countries with separate collection systems for recyclable materials).

Appliances marked with this symbol must not be disposed of with household waste! By law, you are obliged to dispose of old appliances separately from household waste. Information on collection points that accept old appliances free of charge can be obtained from your local authority.

Batteries and accumulators must not be disposed of with household waste! As a consumer, you are legally obliged to dispose of all batteries and accumulators, regardless of whether they contain hazardous substances* or not, in an environmentally friendly manner.
