Standard Requirements and SAR Test Exclusion
This section outlines the standard requirements for RF exposure evaluation according to FCC regulations, specifically § 15.247(i) and § 1.1307b(1), referencing KDB 447498 D01 General RF Exposure Guidance v06, section 4.3.1.
The 1-g and 10-g SAR test exclusion thresholds for frequencies between 100MHz and 6GHz at test separation distances up to 50mm are determined by the following formula:
[ (max. power of channel, including tune-up tolerance, mW) / (min. test separation distance, mm) ] * [ √f(GHz) ]
This calculation is used for 1-g SAR, where the result must be less than or equal to 3.0, and for 10-g SAR extremity SAR, where the result must be less than or equal to 7.5. Here, f(GHz) represents the RF channel transmit frequency in GHz. Power and distance are rounded to the nearest mW and mm before calculation, and the result is rounded to one decimal place for comparison.
These test exclusions are applicable only when the minimum test separation distance is 50mm or less, and for transmission frequencies between 100MHz and 6GHz. If the minimum test separation distance is less than 5mm, a distance of 5mm is used for SAR test exclusion determination.
Routine SAR evaluation, as required by § 2.1093, involves measurements or computer simulation. Portable transmitters with output power exceeding the applicable low threshold require SAR evaluation for TCB approval if routine SAR evaluation is not needed.
Channel (MHz) | Maximum output power (dBm) | Tune up tolerance (dBm) | Max Tune Up Power (mW) | Distance (mm) | Calculation results | Limit | Operating Mode |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
2480 | 6.36 | 6.36 ± 1 | 5.445027 | 5 | 1.714967 | 3 | 2DH5 |
According to KDB 447498, no stand-alone SAR measurement is required for the BT antenna, and no simultaneous SAR measurement is required.
