Talk to our customer service agent at: +1 (833) 530-0033 Or email us at: support@sprout-kids.com Watch our installation video at: sprout-kids.com/collections/makerwall ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS 1 Following the steps indicated, line up the slotboard(s) on the ground in front of the installation location to determine positioning of slotboard(s) on wall. 4 MEASURE & MARK CENTERPOINT 2 MARK WHERE YOU WANT THE LEFT EDGE OF THE SLOTBOARD(S) TO BE 3 MEASURE & MARK WHERE THE RIGHT EDGE OF THE SLOTBOARD(S) WILL BE LINE UP SLOTBOARDS ON 1 GROUND IN FRONT OF INSTALLATION LOCATION 2 Find & Mark the locations of the studs between your Left & Right Boundaries using a Studfinder A . If you don't have a studfinder B , follow suggestions 1-4. Studs behind the drywall The Knock Test Knocking on a wall: A lower pitch indicates a hollow space behind the drywall. A USE A STUDFINDER IF YOU HAVE ONE A higher pitch indicates a solid mass behind the drywall (likely a stud). B OTHERWISE, USE THE KNOCK TEST IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE SUGGESTIONS BELOW TO FIND & MARK THE STUDS 16" 1 REMEMBER THAT STUDS ARE GENERALLY USE THE PROVIDED 4 PIN-NAIL OR DRILL BIT TO CHECK IF THERE IS A 16" APART (CENTER TO CENTER) STUD AT A PARTICULAR OUTLETS ARE USUALLY 2 MOUNTED TO ONE SIDE OF A STUD LOCATION BASEBOARDS ARE USUALLY PIN-NAILED TO STUDS. If more studs are available, we recommend putting a screw in each one. If there is only 1 Stud, you will need to adjust the positioning of your slotboard so that they can be mounted to at least 2 Studs. 28.75" 1 Stud = Unsafe 2 Studs = Safe 14" 1 Stud = OK on 14" Horizontal Batten 3 Studs = Very Safe 4 Studs = Very Safe (Position is Demonstrative - not Configured for Slotboard) 4 With the help of another adult, place the first slotboard up on the wall, and determine how high you want it to be (Height A). MKW 5 Set the slotboard aside, and prepare the highest batten, as shown. 1 MARK LOCATIONS OF STUDS ON BATTEN Pilot Hole facing outward Use T25 Torx Driver 2 PRE-DRILL A 3.5" CONSTRUCTION SCREW IN EACH STUD LOCATION. BE CAREFUL NOT TO SCREW THROUGH THE BATTEN. HOLDING BATTEN ON THE MARK, SCREW IN 1 6 1ST SCREW Screw the batten into the studs, as shown. 2 USE LEVEL TO STRAIGHTEN BATTEN 3 THEN SCREW IN 2ND SCREW DOCUMENT: AI-MKW WWW.SPROUT-KIDS.COM COPYRIGHT QUARK ENTERPRISES 2021 PAGE 5 OF 8 7 Repeat Steps 5 & 6 with the lower battens. B Attach the battens to wall at Heights B & C per the table, measuring top to top. Ensure they are lined up horizontally with the highest batten. B Approximate Slotboard Size C 30" W x 60" T 28 3/4" 57 1/2" 30" W x 45" T 28 3/4" 42 3/4" 30" W x 30" T 28" -- 30" W x 15" T 13 1/4" -- C 60" W x 15" T 13 1/4" -- 60" W x 30" T 28" -- 15" W x 30" T 28" -- 15" W x 60" T 28 3/4" 57 1/2" 8 With the help of another adult, position the slotboard up against the wall. With the top center hole on the slotboard positioned over the pilot hole on the highest batten, screw in a Black Screw. Top Center Hole Use 4mm positioned over Pilot Hex Driver Hole on batten NOTE: there is NO bottom center hole! PAGE 6 OF 8 QUARK ENTERPRISES, LLC PO BOX 1123, PROVO, UT 84601 MODEL NO. MKW 9 Using the provided mini-level to ensure your slotboard is level, fasten the slotboard to the bottom batten using a black screw in the bottom-right corner. 10 Check positioning of the slotboard. If it is correct, then install remaining screws. If it is wrong, remove bottom-right screw and try again with bottom-left hole. DOCUMENT: AI-MKW WWW.SPROUT-KIDS.COM COPYRIGHT QUARK ENTERPRISES 2021 PAGE 7 OF 8 11 If you are placing another slotboard adjacent to the existing one using new battens, align the new battens flush with the installed ones. Confirm that the new battens are both level and positioned at the same height as the initial battens before marking the wall. Shift the new battens 3/8" away from the edge of the installed slotboard, then proceed to install them by replicating Steps 6-7. If you are placing another slotboard next to your existing slotboard using the same battens as already installed (battens are wider than the current installed slotboard), then skip to step 12. 12 With the help of another adult, position the next slotboard perfectly flush and aligned with its neighbor. Install 1 Black Screw in top-center hole, and check alignment. If alignment is off, then remove the 1 Black Screw and try again in a different hole. After successfully installing the first Black Screw, install remaining black screws. 3/8" flush & level New Battens Same Battens PAGE 8 OF 8 Congratulations!
