End of Life
Resistex adheres to the eco-organization ecosystem for the recycling and recovery of all its WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). A service in collaboration with ecosystem is in place to collect WEEE free of charge.
Life Cycle Analysis Methodology
The Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) underpinning this EPD is conducted according to the criteria set by the PCR-ed4-FR-2021 09 06 of the PEP ecopassport® Program. The functional unit and the scenarios for distribution, use, and waste treatment comply with the assumptions defined in PSR-0014-ed2-FR-2023 07 13.
Results were obtained using EIME software version 6.2 with its April 2024 database (updated in June 2024).
Manufacturing Stage
The luminaires are assembled at the RESISTEX factory in China. The manufacturing stage includes:
- Production and upstream transport of materials for product and packaging manufacturing, including materials that will become waste.
- Industrial material processing.
- Assembly, including:
- Electricity, gas, and water consumption.
- Waste from assembly scrap.
- Packaging waste.
- End-of-life treatment of waste (scrap and consumables).
- Transport of the packaged product from the assembly site to the final logistics platform.
A recycled material content of 0% is considered.
Energy Model: Electricity Mix; Low voltage; 2018; China, CN
Distribution Stage
The distribution of the packaged product from the last logistics platform (Saint André de la Roche, France) to installation sites (France) was modeled by:
- Transport by 27t capacity truck over 250 km.
- Container transport over 19000 km.
Transport Scenario: Local/national transport PEP-PCR-ed4-EN-2021 09 06
Installation Stage
The installation phase of this product considers the end-of-life of its packaging.
Energy Model: Electricity Mix; Production mix; Low voltage; 2020; France, FR
Use Stage
Electricity Consumption Scenario
The luminaire does not have lighting management functionality.
The luminaire is used for 28.8 years with an annual usage of 2500 hours, totaling 72000 hours of use. The luminaire's power is 28.9W. With a theoretical energy saving coefficient of 1, its electricity consumption over its lifetime is 2080.8 kWh.
Light Source Replacement
No replacement of the light source is necessary during the luminaire's lifetime.
Normal operating conditions for the luminaire do not require maintenance.
Energy Model: Electricity Mix; Production mix; Low voltage; 2020; France, FR
End of Life Stage
The end-of-life stage includes the transport and treatment of the luminaire and its light source.
The end-of-life treatment of the luminaire was modeled using the ICV modules from the EcoSystem database. This database allows for the evaluation of the environmental footprint of end-of-life electrical and electronic equipment. 96 materials are modeled and broken down according to the different processed flows to quantify the environmental impacts of end-of-life electronic equipment. This database, made available to manufacturers, allows for the measurement of the environmental impact of end-of-life electrical equipment based on its composition.
The BOM (Bill of materials) of the product, electronic boards, and cables were isolated to use ESR data specific to the end-of-life treatment of the materials contained in each of these elements.
ESR data without benefit related to virgin material substitution were used. ESR data related to the category "Professional Lighting Equipment" were used.
Energy Model: Electricity Mix; Production mix; 2015-2017; France, FR (Ecosystem)
Module D - Benefits and Loads Beyond the System Boundaries
Charges related to recycled material content in the product during manufacturing were considered in Module D. These charges were modeled by the quantities of recycled material reported in manufacturing in positive quantities of virgin materials.
Benefits from packaging recycling at the installation stage were considered in Module D. These benefits were modeled by the quantities of recycled material reported in installation in negative quantities of virgin materials.
Benefits related to the end-of-life of the product (recycling) were modeled using ESR data including benefits only.
Environmental Impacts
Environmental Impacts of the Reference Product at the Functional Unit Scale
The impact results presented below were obtained using the methods defined by PCR-ed4-FR-2021 09 06 and PSR-0014-ed2-FR-2023 07 13. This declaration was prepared considering the emission of a luminous flux of 1000 lumens over a reference life of 35,000 hours.

Product Range Presentation
The 621441 luminaires are available in 2 versions that belong to the same homogeneous environmental family. The environmental impacts of other products in the range will be estimated by weighting the environmental impacts of the reference product by extrapolation coefficients. The parameters for the different products in the range are as follows:

Extrapolation Coefficients at the Functional Unit Scale
Extrapolation coefficients are provided for the environmental impact of the functional unit, which is the emission of a luminous flux of 1000 lumens for 35,000 hours. For each life cycle stage, the environmental impacts of the product considered are calculated by multiplying the impacts of the declaration corresponding to the reference product by the extrapolation coefficient. The "Total" column is to be calculated by summing the environmental impacts of each life cycle stage.
