Quick Guide: Integrating Smart Life Devices with Amazon Alexa & Google Home

Using Amazon Echo with Smart Life

This section guides you through setting up your Smart Life devices to work with Amazon Echo using the Amazon Alexa app.

Preparation

  • Amazon Alexa App and account
  • Smart Life App and account
  • An Echo device (e.g., Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Tap)
  • Your Smart device

Step 1: Set up Smart Life Account and Device

  1. Sign in with your Smart Life account.
  2. Add your smart device to the Smart Life app.
  3. Rename the device to an easily recognized word or phrase (e.g., "bedroom light").

Step 2: Set up Echo Device with Amazon Alexa App

  1. Sign in with your Amazon account in the Alexa app.
  2. Tap the Homepage icon (top left), then navigate to "Settings" and "Set up a new device".
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. Select your Echo device. Long-press the dot button on the device until the orange light ring appears, then tap "Continue".
  5. Select your Wi-Fi network and connect it to your Echo device. This process may take several minutes.

Ensure your Echo is plugged into a power outlet. It will indicate readiness with an orange light ring.

Step 3: Enable Smart Life Skill in Alexa App

  1. In the Alexa app, tap the Homepage, select "Skills", and search for "Smart Life".
  2. Select "Smart Life" and tap "Enable Skill".
  3. You will be redirected to an account linking page. Enter your Smart Life account credentials and select the correct country/region for your account.
  4. Tap "Link Now" to connect your Smart Life account.

Upon successful linking, a message like "Alexa has been successfully linked with Smart Life" will appear. You can then exit this page. If an account was previously linked, you can use it directly or disable/remove it via "Disable Skills".

Step 4: Discover Smart Devices

Echo needs to discover your smart devices before you can control them.

  • Say, "Alexa, discover devices" to your Echo device.
  • Alternatively, tap "Discover Device" within the Alexa app.

Discovered devices will appear in the list. If you change a device's name in the Smart Life app, you must re-run the discovery process in Alexa for the changes to take effect.

Step 5: Control Your Smart Devices via Echo

Once devices are discovered, you can control them using voice commands. For example, for a device named "bedroom light":

  • Turn on/off: Alexa, turn on/off bedroom light.
  • Set brightness: Alexa, set bedroom light to 50 percent.
  • Adjust brightness: Alexa, brighten/dim bedroom light.
  • Set color: Alexa, set bedroom light to red.

Setting Up Groups in Alexa App

You can group multiple devices for simultaneous control:

  1. Tap "Create group" in the Alexa app.
  2. Give your group a name (e.g., "my smart lights").
  3. Select the devices to include in the group and tap "Save".

Now you can control the group, for instance: Alexa, turn on my smart lights.

Controlling Smart Devices with Google Home

This section explains how to link your Smart Life devices with Google Home for voice control.

Step 1: Link Smart Life Account in Google Home App

Attention: Due to a known bug in the Google Home app, only one Google account can be used for "Home Control" actions at a time. If you have multiple accounts signed in, only the first one will be active for home control.

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap the "Home Control" option from the hamburger menu on the app's homepage.
  3. Tap the "+" icon to add a new device or service.
  4. Find and select "Smart Life" from the list of available services.
  5. In the new window, select your Smart Life account region, enter your Smart Life account credentials, and tap "Link Now".
  6. After linking, assign your devices to specific rooms. Your devices will then be listed under the Home Control page.

Step 2: Control Your Smart Devices via Google Home

You can now control your smart devices using Google Assistant. For example, for a device named "bedroom light":

  • Turn on/off: Ok Google, turn on/off bedroom light.
  • Set brightness: Ok Google, set bedroom light to 50 percent.
  • Adjust brightness: Ok Google, brighten/dim bedroom light.
  • Set color: Ok Google, set bedroom light to red.
