Introduction

The AX400 Series of dual input analyzers incorporates the latest technology to provide a flexible, feature-packed device that satisfies a diverse range of applications. They are available in both wall-/pipe- and panel-mount formats. The wall-/pipe-mount version is rated to IP66/NEMA 4X, with particular attention paid to the ease of connection, making installation rapid and cost-efficient. The front of the panel-mount version is also rated IP66/NEMA 4X.

Dual Input Configurations: There are three permutations to select from: two conductivity inputs, two pH inputs, and a combined version incorporating both a conductivity and a pH input.

Key Features:

  • Cost effective: Select from two input conductivity, two input pH/Redox (ORP), or combined pH/Redox (ORP) and conductivity in one instrument.
  • Reduced installation cost: Easy access terminations and reduced panel space.
  • Dual Conductivity: Offers Difference, Ratio, % Passage, % Rejection, and Inferred pH calculations.
  • High functionality at minimum cost: Three alarms and two current outputs supplied as standard.
  • Add-on option card: Provides flexible and versatile operation with maximum five alarm relays and four current outputs.
  • On-line diagnostics: Provide assurance of performance, reducing operational costs.
  • Versatile power supply options: 85V to 265V AC standard; 12V to 30V DC available as an option.

These analyzers offer high specification and high performance for conductivity and pH/Redox (ORP) measurements across all types of industry.

The AX400 Series Details

The AX400 Series analyzers are designed for flexibility and feature-packed performance. They are available in wall-/pipe-mount (IP66/NEMA 4X) and panel-mount formats. The panel-mount version's front is also rated IP66/NEMA 4X.

Dual Input Capabilities

The analyzers support three input configurations: dual conductivity, dual pH, or a combined conductivity and pH input.

AX411 Dual Input Conductivity

This version can be programmed as a conventional dual input analyzer or for calculated variables. The software allows for calculations like Difference, Ratio, % Passage, % Rejection, and Inferred pH. The pH versions support five recognized buffer choices (ABB, NIST, DIN, US Tech, Merck) and manual buffer value setting.

AX466 Dual Input pH

The AX466 enables two continuous pH measurements with simultaneous local display and retransmission. An optional card provides additional relays and retransmission outputs for pH values and sample temperatures.

AX416 Combined pH & Conductivity

This model measures both pH and conductivity in a single unit. With an optional card, it can retransmit pH, conductivity, and both sample temperatures. It includes five programmable alarms.

Standard Features

All dual input versions include two fully-isolated current outputs (assignable to measured parameter, sample temperature, or calculated variable) and three programmable relay set points. Features like a power-saving display, diagnostic current output, and smart software contribute to a low cost of ownership.

Versatile Power Supply Options

Standard supply is 85 to 265V AC. Optional supplies include 24V AC or 12 to 30V DC. The unit automatically recognizes the input voltage, reducing maintenance and the risk of damage from incorrect connection.

Advanced Function Card

An optional advanced function card adds two current outputs and two alarm relays, plus a real-time clock and logbook for pH measurements, enhancing versatility.

Display

The backlit, dual 5-digit, 7-segment LCD display provides simultaneous readouts of measured parameters and a 16-character text line for diagnostics or computed information.

Installation

Easy access terminations and a design that maintains IP rating when the terminal compartment cover is removed ensure rapid and cost-effective installation.

Sensing Systems

Conductivity Sensing Systems

ABB offers a wide choice of conductivity cells and sensing systems for applications ranging from ultra-pure water to potable water, wastewater, and concentrated acids. ABB cells are precision-made and require minimal calibration.

Ultra Pure and Low Conductivity

The ABB series of epoxy resin and stainless steel cells are compatible with the AX400 Series and have been used extensively for decades. Available in flow, screw-in dip, and withdrawable styles, these cells offer high accuracy, guaranteed cell constants, and long operational life.

Epoxy Cells

These cells are reliable and durable, virtually maintenance-free for clean water applications. Available with 0.1k and 1.0k cell constants, they offer 1% accuracy and are interchangeable without calibration. They are unaffected by metal pipework and operate from 0 to 100°C (32 to 212°F) and up to 6 bar (88 lb/in²) pressure.

Resin Columns

ABB manufactures resin columns for before-and-after cation column conductivity measurement, used for validating inferred pH measurements.

Stainless Steel Cells

Available in screw-in, flow, and withdrawable versions, with cell constants of 0.01k, 0.05k, and 0.1k. They provide accurate performance over the range 0 to 1000 µS/cm, operating from 0 to 100°C (32 to 212°F) and up to 10 bar (145 lb/in²) pressure. Hygienic-fitting stainless steel cells are available for USP24 requirements.
