Assembly
You will need a screwdriver.
- Carefully remove all parts from the packaging and check if anything is damaged. If the equipment is damaged, report it immediately to the seller from whom you purchased the equipment.
- The sand filter must be placed on a firm, flat surface, preferably a concrete slab. Position the sand filter so that the ports and the control valve are accessible for operation, maintenance, and winter preparation.
- The EN60335-2-41 TEST standard requires that the sand filter must be fixed vertically on the ground or on a wooden or concrete pedestal before use, so that it cannot accidentally fall. The fully assembled sand filter weighs more than 18kg. The mounting holes must have a diameter of 8mm and be 86mm apart. Use two bolts and nuts with a maximum diameter of 8mm to secure the sand filter to the pedestal.
IMPORTANT: Do not put chlorine in the strainer to prevent damage to the sand filter.
LOADING SWIMMING POOL FILTER SAND/POLYSPHERE™™ SWIMMING POOL FILTER BALLS
NOTE: Use only special filter sand for swimming pools, without lime or clay. #20 Silica sand 0.45 – 0.85mm, a 20kg bag should be sufficient. If you do not adhere to the recommended filter sand size, filter performance will be limited and the sand filter may be damaged, voiding the warranty.
IMPORTANT: We recommend using #20 silica sand in your swimming pool sand filter. It has the specific dimensions to capture particles ranging from 20 - 100 microns.
A small amount of dirt may pass through the sand back into the pool. This is normal, especially if it is fine dirt or silt. To limit this, it is best to follow the maintenance instructions and backwash and rinse when necessary. We also recommend contacting your pool dealer for the chemical product specifically designed to clean the sand. Proper sand maintenance ensures optimal cleaning and prevents oil or scale buildup.
When vacuuming the pool floor with a lot of dirt, we recommend backwashing the sand after half of the pool has been cleaned.
Remember to backwash and rinse the sand every time after vacuuming the pool floor.
NOTE: To prevent the skimmer from being damaged when adding sand, pour some water into the bottom tank so that the skimmer is submerged under the collector.
NOTE: Sand/Polysphere™™ Filter Balls not included
NOTE: Use 28 g (0.06 lbs) Polysphere™™ Swimming Pool Filter Balls to replace 1 kg (2.20 lbs) of sand.

Control Valve Overview
WARNING: Always unplug the sand filter pump from the socket before changing the control valve function to avoid damage to the equipment and injury.
Changing the valve positions while the pump is running can damage the control valve, causing injury to persons or damage to property.
Using the Control Valve
Push down the control valve lever and turn the lever to the desired function.
Functions:
- Filter (Play symbol): This function is used to filter pool water; the control valve should be in this position 99% of the time. Water is pumped through the sand filter. The water is cleaned in the sand filter, after which it returns to the swimming pool.
- Closed (X symbol): This function ensures that no more water flows between the sand filter and the swimming pool.
- Sand Clean (Recycle symbol): This function is used to clean the sand bed; water is pumped down through the connection, up through the sand bed, and discharged through port D.
- Rinse (Spray symbol): This function is for the first time the pump is started, cleaning the sand, and leveling the sand bed after cleaning the sand; water is pumped down through the sand, up through the connection, and then discharged through port D.
- Waste (Drain symbol): This function removes water from the swimming pool; with this function, the water does not pass through the filter. The water is discharged through port D instead of returning to the swimming pool.
- Circulate (Circular arrow symbol): This function circulates the pool water without passing it through the sand filter; use this function if the filter is broken to collect dirt in the debris screens.
Maintenance
CAUTION: You must ensure that the sand filter is disconnected from the power outlet before performing maintenance, otherwise there is a serious risk of injury or death.
As more dirt enters the sand filter, the pressure reading on the gauge will rise. If the pressure reading on the gauge is 0.56 Bar (8.0 PSI) or higher, or if the water flow to the pool is too low, it is time to clean the sand. To clean the sand bed, follow all instructions previously outlined in: Backwash and Rinse.
NOTE:
- The pressure gauge is for maintenance purposes only, and the value on the gauge is for reference only; it is not a precision instrument.
- We recommend cleaning the sand bed once a month or less frequently depending on how the pool is used. Do not clean the sand too often.
Cleaning the Pump Basket
- Unplug the sand filter and set the control valve to the Closed position.
- Close the inlet valves.
- Remove the pump basket cover by unscrewing it.
- Remove the pump basket and discard any debris.
- Replace the pump basket. Ensure the opening in the pump basket is aligned.
- Ensure the O-ring is in place. Screw the pump basket cover back into place.
- Open the inlet valves.
NOTE: The pump basket must be emptied and cleaned periodically. A dirty or clogged pump basket will reduce the performance of the sand filter.
