Parts Overview

Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with all the parts before assembling the sand filter.

Diagrams showing parts and their quantities are provided.

Assembly

You will need a screwdriver.

  1. Carefully remove all parts from the packaging and check if anything is damaged. If the equipment is damaged, report it immediately to the seller from whom you purchased the equipment.
  2. The sand filter must be placed on a firm, flat surface, preferably a concrete slab. Position the sand filter so that the ports and the control valve are accessible for operation, maintenance, and winter preparation.
  3. The EN60335-2-41 TEST standard requires that the sand filter must be fixed vertically on the ground or on a wooden or concrete pedestal before use, so that it cannot accidentally fall. The fully assembled sand filter weighs more than 18kg. The mounting holes must have a diameter of 8mm and be 86mm apart. Use two bolts and nuts with a maximum diameter of 8mm to secure the sand filter to the pedestal.

IMPORTANT: Do not put chlorine in the strainer to prevent damage to the sand filter.

LOADING SWIMMING POOL FILTER SAND/POLYSPHERE™™ SWIMMING POOL FILTER BALLS

NOTE: Use only special filter sand for swimming pools, without lime or clay. #20 Silica sand 0.45 – 0.85mm, a 20kg bag should be sufficient. If you do not adhere to the recommended filter sand size, filter performance will be limited and the sand filter may be damaged, voiding the warranty.

IMPORTANT: We recommend using #20 silica sand in your swimming pool sand filter. It has the specific dimensions to capture particles ranging from 20 - 100 microns.

A small amount of dirt may pass through the sand back into the pool. This is normal, especially if it is fine dirt or silt. To limit this, it is best to follow the maintenance instructions and backwash and rinse when necessary. We also recommend contacting your pool dealer for the chemical product specifically designed to clean the sand. Proper sand maintenance ensures optimal cleaning and prevents oil or scale buildup.

When vacuuming the pool floor with a lot of dirt, we recommend backwashing the sand after half of the pool has been cleaned.

Remember to backwash and rinse the sand every time after vacuuming the pool floor.

NOTE: To prevent the skimmer from being damaged when adding sand, pour some water into the bottom tank so that the skimmer is submerged under the collector.

NOTE: Sand/Polysphere™™ Filter Balls not included

NOTE: Use 28 g (0.06 lbs) Polysphere™™ Swimming Pool Filter Balls to replace 1 kg (2.20 lbs) of sand.

Connecting to the Pool

V1.1: Connecting hoses to the pool.

V1.2: Connecting the filter to the pool.

V2: Connecting the filter to the pool with 32mm (1.25in) valve.

Operation

STOP: Read the manual carefully before switching on.

Timer

  1. Plug the sand filter into the socket, turn the knob to the desired position. The sand filter will start working immediately.
  2. Turn the knob to the "0" position. The sand filter will stop working immediately.
  3. After switching on, you can set the operating time, rest time, and cycle time by turning the knob to the desired position. See the table below for more information.
  4. When the timer knob is set to a new position, the previous filter cycle is automatically canceled so that the new cycle can begin.
  5. Each time the filter is switched on or restarted, a new cycle begins based on the timer knob's position.

NOTE: If the knob is set to the 24-hour position (24), the sand filter will run continuously without rest periods.

Control Valve Overview

WARNING: Always unplug the sand filter pump from the socket before changing the control valve function to avoid damage to the equipment and injury.

Changing the valve positions while the pump is running can damage the control valve, causing injury to persons or damage to property.

Using the Control Valve

Push down the control valve lever and turn the lever to the desired function.

Functions:

Maintenance

CAUTION: You must ensure that the sand filter is disconnected from the power outlet before performing maintenance, otherwise there is a serious risk of injury or death.

As more dirt enters the sand filter, the pressure reading on the gauge will rise. If the pressure reading on the gauge is 0.56 Bar (8.0 PSI) or higher, or if the water flow to the pool is too low, it is time to clean the sand. To clean the sand bed, follow all instructions previously outlined in: Backwash and Rinse.

NOTE:

  1. The pressure gauge is for maintenance purposes only, and the value on the gauge is for reference only; it is not a precision instrument.
  2. We recommend cleaning the sand bed once a month or less frequently depending on how the pool is used. Do not clean the sand too often.

Cleaning the Pump Basket

  1. Unplug the sand filter and set the control valve to the Closed position.
  2. Close the inlet valves.
  3. Remove the pump basket cover by unscrewing it.
  4. Remove the pump basket and discard any debris.
  5. Replace the pump basket. Ensure the opening in the pump basket is aligned.
  6. Ensure the O-ring is in place. Screw the pump basket cover back into place.
  7. Open the inlet valves.

NOTE: The pump basket must be emptied and cleaned periodically. A dirty or clogged pump basket will reduce the performance of the sand filter.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Causes Solutions
Sand coming out of the pool - Sand is too fine
- Sand level is too high
- The skimmer is broken
- #20 silicate sand between 0.45mm and 0.85mm is recommended
- Stop the sand filter every time the control valve is adjusted
- Check if the sand level is between the indicated "MAX" and "MIN" on the storage hub
- Replace the skimmer
No water supply - The stoppers have not been removed
- No air was released
- The control valve is set to Closed
- The strainer is clogged
- The sand filter is broken
- Remove the stoppers and install the debris screen
- Release air
- Set to the filter function
- Clean the strainer
- Call for assistance
High filter pressure - Dirty filter
- Calcified sand bed
- Insufficient rinsing
- Rinse
- Check the sand and replace if necessary
- Rinse until the outflow is good
The Control Valve leaks from inlet D - The pressure valve is broken
- The Control Valve is set between two functions
- The seal is broken
- Replace the pressure valve
- Set to one function
- Replace the seal
The connections leak - The connection retaining ring is not in the correct position
- The connection retaining ring is broken
- Loose hoses
- Place the retaining ring in the correct position
- Replace the retaining ring
- Tighten them

Winter Storage

In areas with freezing temperatures in winter, the equipment must be prepared for winter to protect it from damage. Freezing water will damage the sand filter and void the warranty.

  1. Backwash the sand filter.
  2. Drain the pool according to the instructions in the relevant manual.
  3. Unscrew the drain valve cap at the bottom of the tank and let any remaining water drain out.
  4. Disconnect the two hoses from the pool and the sand filter.
  5. Remove all sand from the tank and dry the parts.
  6. Store the sand filter in a dry place, out of reach of children.

Disposal

Electrical products must not be disposed of with household waste. Please recycle where facilities exist. Contact your local authority or retailer for recycling advice.
