DocumentDocumentRemote Air Manifold (RAM) Series User Manual WARNING The RAM series remote air manifold boxes are designed to meet NIOSH requirements for a point of attachment when the work area is located away from the filtration source or main air supply. The RAM must be supplied with at least Grade D breathable air at the required pressure (psi) and volume (cfm) as recommended by the respirator manufacturer. See Table 1 below. Failure to continuously supply at least Grade D breathable air to the RAM could cause death or serious injury or life-threatening delayed lung disease including but not limited to silicosis, pneumoconiosis or asbestosis. Point of Attachment (POA) Point of Attachment: A pressure gauge, regulator, relief valve and congruous fitting are necessary to be considered a POA. (Reference: Federal Law 42 CFR Part 84 Subpart J Section 84.149) Regulator allows adjustment of air pressure to manufacturer's specified pressure range based on range of hose length used. Pressure gauge allows verification of this pressure setting at the point of attachment. Pressure relief valve prevents pressure from exceeding 125 psi. Congruous fitting allows connection of "Detachable couplings" as part of NIOSH approved respirator system.
