As a slave flash, it enters sleep mode after 60 minutes of idle use. Press any flash button to wake it up. Disabling Auto Power Off function is recommended when the flash is used off-camera (refer to C.Fn-ST, Page 47).
Flash Mode: TTL Autoflash
This flash offers three modes: TTL, Manual (M), and Multi (Stroboscopic). In TTL mode, the camera and flash work together to calculate correct exposure for the subject and background. TTL mode supports FEC, HSS, second curtain sync, etc.
Press the <MODE> button to cycle through the flash modes.
TTL Mode
Select <TTL> mode by pressing the <MODE> button. Half-press the camera shutter button to focus. When the shutter button is fully pressed, the flash fires a pre-flash for exposure calculation. The display shows "HI" for maximum output or "Lo" for minimum output, with blinking for 3 seconds. Adjust camera parameters if underexposure or overexposure occurs.
FEC: Flash Exposure Compensation
FEC allows adjustment from -3 to +3 in 1/3rd stops, useful for fine-tuning TTL exposure based on the environment. Press <SET> to enter adjustment mode, then use the Select Dial to set the compensation amount. Press <SET> again to confirm. Set to "+0" to cancel.
Shutter Sync Settings
- High-speed sync: Press <SYNC> button. On Olympus, press OK or ; on Panasonic, enter Flash Mode via MENU and choose Fill-flash . Then set the camera shutter.
- Second-curtain sync: On Olympus, press OK or ; on Panasonic, enter Flash Mode via MENU and set second-curtain mode. Then set the camera shutter.
Notes on High-speed sync:
- Faster shutter speeds reduce effective flash range.
- Multi flash mode is not compatible with high-speed sync.
- Over-temperature protection may activate after 15 consecutive high-speed sync flashes.
- Avoid frequent use of high-speed sync to prolong flash tube life.
- In wireless remote control mode, high-speed sync with Panasonic cameras may cause out-of-sync issues.
Flash Mode – M: Manual Flash
Adjust flash output from 1/1 to 1/128 power in 1/3rd stop increments. Use a handheld flash meter for accurate exposure. Press <MODE> to select <M>. Use the Select Dial to adjust flash output. High-speed sync and rear curtain sync are achievable in M mode.
Flash Output Range
The table shows how f/stop changes with flash output adjustments. Decreasing output to 1/2, 1/2-0.3, or 1/2-0.7, then increasing it to more than 1/2, 1/2+0.3, 1/2+0.7, or 1/1 will display accordingly.
Optical S1 Secondary Unit Setting
In M manual flash mode, press <SLAVE> to use the flash as an optic S1 secondary unit. It fires synchronously with the main flash, similar to radio triggers, creating multiple lighting effects.
Optical S2 Secondary Unit Setting
Press <SLAVE> to use the flash as an optic S2 secondary unit in M manual flash mode. This is useful for cameras with pre-flash. The flash ignores the first pre-flash and fires only on the second, actual flash.
S1 and S2 optic triggering, and off-camera high-speed sync, are only available in M manual flash mode.
Flash Mode – Multi: Stroboscopic Flash
This mode fires a rapid series of flashes, capturing multiple images of a moving subject. You can set the firing frequency (Hz), number of flashes, and flash output. Press <MODE> to select <Multi>. Use the Select Dial to choose flash output. Press <SET> to set flash frequency and then number of flashes.
Calculating the Shutter Speed
For stroboscopic flash, the shutter remains open until firing stops. Use the formula: Number of Flashes / Flash Frequency = Shutter Speed. For example, 10 flashes at 5 Hz requires a shutter speed of at least 2 seconds.
Caution: To prevent overheating, avoid more than 10 consecutive stroboscopic flashes. Allow at least 15 minutes rest. If the flash stops automatically, allow 15 minutes rest. Stroboscopic flash is most effective with reflective subjects against dark backgrounds. Using a tripod and remote control is recommended. It can be used with "bulb" mode.
Wireless Flash Shooting: Radio (2.4G) Transmission
Set up to three slave groups for TTL autoflash shooting, allowing for various lighting effects. Master flash settings are automatically transmitted to slave units. The flash supports TTL, M, and Multi modes when set as a master unit. It is compatible with Godox 2.4G wireless X system.
Master Unit compatibility: AD600, AD600M, AD360II-C, AD360II-N, V860IIO, V850II, TT6850, TT600, AD200.

Other Applications
Bounce Flash
Point the flash head towards a wall or ceiling to bounce the light. This softens shadows for a more natural look. Rotate the flash head to set the bounce direction. Ensure the surface is plain and white for best results. If the surface is too far or not white, it may cause underexposure or color cast.
Creating a Catchlight
Use the catchlight panel to add catchlights to the subject's eyes for a more lively expression. Point the flash head upward by 90°. Pull out the wide panel to expose the catchlight panel. Push the wide panel back in. Follow the same procedures as bounce flash. For best effect, maintain a distance of 1.5m/4.9ft from the subject.
ZOOM: Setting the Flash Coverage and Using the Wide Panel
Flash coverage can be set automatically or manually to match lens focal lengths (12-52mm for 4/3 format, 24-105mm for 135 format). The built-in wide panel expands coverage to 7mm (4/3 format) or 14mm (135 format). In Manual Zoom mode, press <ZOOM> to adjust coverage. <AU> sets automatic coverage. Ensure manual coverage matches the lens focal length to avoid dark peripheries. ZOOM cannot be adjusted when the low battery indicator is displayed.
Protection Function
1. Over-Temperature Protection
To prevent overheating, avoid firing more than 30 continuous flashes at 1/1 power without a rest of at least 10 minutes. If more than 30 flashes are fired in quick succession, the over-temperature protection may activate, increasing recycling time. Allow about 10 minutes for the unit to return to normal. The over-temperature protection status is indicated on the LCD. The table shows the number of flashes that activate this protection at different power outputs and sync modes.
2. Other Protections
The system includes real-time protection prompts:
- E1: Recycling system failure. Restart the flash. If the issue persists, send for maintenance.
- E3: Flash tube voltage too high. Send for maintenance.
- E9: Errors during firmware upgrade. Use the correct firmware upgrade method.
C.Fn: Setting Custom Functions
The table lists available custom functions: ST (Auto sleep), BL (Backlighting control), ID (Wireless ID), and 43 (ZOOM displayed format). To access C.Fn menu, press and hold <ZOOM> for 2 seconds. Use Select Dial to choose functions, <SET> to select and adjust, and <ZOOM> to exit.
