Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the VA-1000 HD Streaming Video Drone. Please read this instruction booklet as it contains valuable information on how to properly fly and care for your VA-1000.

Getting Started
Remote Control Battery Installation
To install batteries in the remote control:
- Unscrew and remove the battery cover from the back of the controller.
- Install 3 fresh "AAA" alkaline batteries into the controller, ensuring correct polarity as shown in Diagram A (Diagram A illustrates the correct placement of three AAA batteries within the controller's battery compartment).
- Replace the battery cover and secure it.
- Turn the controller over and press the power button. If the power indicator turns on, the batteries are installed correctly.
Charging the VA-1000 Li-Poly Battery
Follow these steps to charge the drone's battery:
- Connect the USB charger to the battery charging socket (see Diagram B). Caution: The USB plug fits the charging socket only one way; do not force it, as improper connection can damage the battery.
- Connect the USB end of the cable to your computer's USB port or a USB wall charger (see Diagram C).
- The indicator light on the USB charger will turn solid red while charging. The red LED indicator will turn off when charging is completed.
- Average charging time is approximately 60-80 minutes (using a 5.0V 2A USB wall charger).
IMPORTANT: ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR CHARGING CORD WHEN NOT IN USE.
Installing the VA-1000 Battery
Carefully push the fully charged battery into the VA-1000 battery compartment until it stops and is flush with the back of the drone (see Diagram D). Note: The battery only fits one way; never force it.
How to Expand and Fold Your VA-1000 Arms
Before flying, expand the foldable arms:
- Ensure the drone power is turned off.
- Hold the folded VA-1000 drone in your palm (see Diagram E). Open the arms, starting with the Rear Arms (Lower Arms) and then the Front Arms (Upper Arms).
- Ensure the arms are fully extended and locked into place (see Diagram F). You should feel slight pressure indicating they are properly locked.
- To fold the arms, reverse steps 1-3.
Note: Never use excessive force when opening or closing the arms.
Diagrams and Controls
VA-1000 Diagram
Key components of the VA-1000 drone:
- Propeller: Rotates to provide lift.
- Camera: Captures video and photos.
- Power Button: Turns the drone on/off.

Controller Diagram
The controller features the following controls:
- Throttle/Yaw Stick (Left): Controls ascent/descent and horizontal rotation.
- Direction Controls Stick (Right): Controls forward/backward movement and banking.
- Forward Trim Button: Adjusts forward/backward trim.
- Backward Trim Button: Adjusts forward/backward trim.
- Banking Right Trim Button: Adjusts left/right trim.
- Banking Left Trim Button: Adjusts left/right trim.
- Speed Setting Button: Cycles through speed modes (T, 1, 2, 3).
- 360° Stunt Rolls Button: Activates stunt roll mode.
- Power Indicator: Shows controller power status.
- ON/OFF Power Switch: Turns the controller on/off.
- Take Photo Button (part of Direction Controls): Short press to take a photo.
- Record Video Button (part of Direction Controls): Press and hold to begin video recording.
- AUTO Start/Land Button: Initiates automatic takeoff or landing.
Flight Preparation
- Ensure the remote control has 3 "AAA" batteries and the VA-1000 battery is fully charged.
- Fly in a large, open space, such as a field or park, with at least 200 feet of clear radius.
- Start the drone on a clean, flat, level surface.
- IMPORTANT: For initial flights, avoid windy conditions. Choose a day with zero or extremely light wind.
Syncing Your VA-1000
Proper syncing ensures the controller and drone communicate effectively. Ensure the drone is on a flat surface and trim settings are centered.
- Turn off the controller and remove the VA-1000 battery.
- Insert the VA-1000 battery and place the drone on a flat surface. Press and hold the drone's power button for a few seconds until the LED lights begin to flash (see Diagram F).
- Quickly turn on the remote control. The top red LED on the controller will illuminate.
- Push the throttle stick all the way up, then pull it all the way down. You should hear a high-pitched beep in both directions. When the drone and controller indicator lights stop flashing and remain solid, syncing is complete. Repeat steps if syncing fails.
TIP 1: Minimize the time between powering on the drone and the controller to avoid sync timeouts.
TIP 2: Syncing indoors or in shade can make it easier to see LED indicators.
Flying the VA-1000
Ready to Fly
Once synced, you are ready to fly. Familiarize yourself with starting/stopping rotors, auto-land, and control functions. Begin in a large open field with minimal wind.
Recognizing Front & Rear
The VA-1000 has a front (forward) and rear (backward) direction. The front is indicated by the camera, and the rear by a red light (see Diagram G).
Automatic Takeoff / Land
Ensure the VA-1000 is synced.
- Press the Auto Start/Land button for automatic takeoff.
- Press the Auto Start/Land button again to descend and land automatically (see Diagram H1).
Tips: For manual takeoff, simultaneously move both control sticks down and outward until blades spin. Release sticks and slowly push the throttle stick up (see Diagram H2).
Speed Select Button
The VA-1000 has four speed settings: T (Training), 1 (SLOW), 2 (MEDIUM), and 3 (HIGH). The default is SLOW. Press the speed setting button to cycle through modes; beeps and controller lights indicate the current speed.
T (Training) Mode & Obstacle Avoidance
Press and hold the Speed Button for 2 seconds to enter T Mode (indicated by a long beep). T Mode offers slow speed with maximum/minimum height limits. The obstacle avoidance feature is active in T Mode, allowing the drone to automatically circumvent walls and obstructions.
Note: Obstacle avoidance only functions in T (Training) mode.
Flight Control
Master these basic flight functions:
- Ascend/Descend: Move the left Throttle stick up to ascend, down to descend (see Diagram I).
- Rotate Left/Right: Move the left Throttle stick left to rotate counter-clockwise, right to rotate clockwise (see Diagram J).
- Forward/Backward: Move the right Direction Control stick forward to move forward, backward to move backward (see Diagram K).
- Banking Left/Right: Move the right Direction Control stick left to bank left, right to bank right (see Diagram L).
Flight Practice
Practice these maneuvers to improve flying skills:
- Start with simple vertical takeoffs, landings, and turns.
- Progress to square and cross pattern maneuvers.
Advanced Operations
Adjusting the Trim
The VA-1000 is pre-trimmed, but adjustments may be needed after crashes.
- Forward/Backward Trim: If the drone drifts forward or backward, use the forward/backward trim buttons to correct (see Diagram M).
- Banking Left/Right Trim: If the drone drifts left or right, use the left/right trim buttons to correct (see Diagram N).
Note: A single long beep indicates center trim. No sound means maximum trim on that side.
Calibrating the VA-1000
Recalibrate if the drone drifts or fails to hold its position:
- Place the VA-1000 on a flat, level surface.
- Ensure the drone is on and the controller is synced. Do not start the blades. Move both control sticks down and to the bottom-right corner (see Diagram R). The drone's lights will flash rapidly and then stop, indicating calibration is complete.
Troubleshooting: If lights don't flash, restart the drone and controller. Ensure the battery is inserted before turning on the controller. Re-sync the drone by moving the left throttle stick up and down until a beep is heard.
About 360° Stunt Flips
Execute 360° flips for advanced maneuvers. Remove blade guards for best performance. Stunts consume more battery; flight time may decrease. Flip mode is disabled when battery is low.
Steps to Executing a Stunt Flip
- Hover the VA-1000 at least 5 feet from any obstructions. Ensure speed is set to mode 2 or 3 (T mode and speed 1 do not support flips).
- Press the 360° Stunt Roll Button on the controller. A rapid beeping sound indicates "stunt roll mode" (see Diagram S).
- Use the right control stick: push directly right for a "right side roll" or directly left for a "left side roll" (see Diagram T). Always exercise caution.
Note: To exit stunt roll mode without flipping, press the stunt button again.
Camera and Recording
Recording Videos and Taking Photos
The VA-1000 has an onboard HD camera for video and still photos. It can record simultaneously to a mobile device via the VA-1000 App and to a MicroSD card.
What you need for MicroSD card recording:
- MicroSD card reader (included).
- MicroSD card (not included).
- Computer with a USB port and media player.
Formatting your MicroSD Card: Place the card in the USB reader, connect to your computer, and follow formatting instructions.
Installing the MicroSD Card: Insert the formatted card into the VA-1000's SD card port until it clicks (see Diagram U3). Turn on the drone and ensure it's synced.
Taking Digital Photos: Short press the CAMERA button on the controller. A "beep" and one flash of the drone's LEDs indicate a photo has been taken.
Recording Videos: Long press the CAMERA button for 2-3 seconds. Two "beeps" and rapid flashing of the drone's LEDs indicate video recording has started. Press the Camera Button once to stop recording and exit video mode.
Installing Your Phone Holder
To use the drone's camera with your phone:
- Turn the controller over. Click the top "two teeth" of the phone holder into the two holes on the top of the controller, then click in the bottom (see Diagram U4).
- To remove, pull from the bottom first.
Important Notice: Test camera functions before flying.
Removing Your MicroSD Card
Gently push the back of the SD card until it "pops out" slightly. Pull gently to remove. Store in a clean, safe environment.
Downloading and Clearing Space
Connect the MicroSD card reader to your computer. Download all videos and pictures. After downloading, delete files from the microSD card.
Camera Video and Photo Streaming Setup
The VA-1000 streams video and photos to your mobile device.
What you need:
- Apple or Android smartphone (not included).
- VA-1000 App installed on your mobile device (follow in-app tutorial).
- To download the app, scan the QR codes provided or visit:

Troubleshooting

Maintenance and Warnings
Replacing the Propeller Blades
If propellers are damaged, replace them:
- The VA-1000 has four sets of blades (two marked A & B front, two marked B & A rear - see Diagram V).
- Match blade markings when replacing.
- Unscrew and remove the damaged blade.
- Install the new, correct blade.
Blades Guard Installation
Blade guards are recommended for beginners. Attach the 4 guards to each landing gear (see Diagram W).
VA-1000 Warnings
The VA-1000 is for indoor and outdoor use. Blades rotate at high speeds and can cause injury. Maintain a safe distance and warn spectators. Inspect rotor blades before flight.
- WARNING: Choking/Cutting Hazard (Small Parts/Sharp Blades).
- Keep hands, hair, and loose clothing away from propellers when the drone is ON.
- Turn off the transmitter and drone when not in use.
- Use only the included charger for the Li-Poly battery.
- New alkaline batteries are recommended for the controller.
- Parental supervision is recommended.
Battery Warnings
- Rechargeable Battery: Dispose of Li-Poly batteries properly according to local requirements if they no longer hold a charge.
- Controller Batteries: Requires 3 "AAA" batteries (not included). Do not mix battery types (alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), rechargeable) or old/new batteries. Non-rechargeable batteries must not be recharged. Remove rechargeable batteries before charging. Charge only under adult supervision. Dispose of exhausted batteries properly. Do not short-circuit terminals. Use only recommended battery types with correct polarity. Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
Care and Maintenance
- Remove controller batteries if not in use for an extended period.
- Clean the remote and drone with a slightly damp cloth.
- Keep away from direct heat or sunlight.
- Do not submerge the drone in water.
- Parental guidance is recommended for battery installation/replacement.
Warranty Information
Limited 90-Day Warranty (North America)
AMAX Group USA warrants the product against electrical or mechanical defects for 90 days from purchase. For warranty service, contact the warranty center with the original receipt. The warranty covers normal consumer use and excludes damage from shipment, alterations, accident, misuse, abuse, neglect, wear and tear, inadequate maintenance, commercial use, or unreasonable use. Removal of parts voids warranty. This warranty does not cover third-party repairs. Implied warranties are limited to 90 days. Consequential or incidental damages are excluded.
Repair/Replace Product
If the product malfunctions, contact the warranty center. An RMA number and return address will be provided if a return is necessary. AMAX may repair, replace, or refund the product. IMPORTANT NOTICE: Returns without an AMAX-issued RMA form/number will be rejected.
Preparation for Shipping Your Product
Repack the product securely, preferably in the original carton, and ship prepaid and insured. Include the RMA form, daytime phone number, and email address inside the carton. For service after warranty expiration, contact customer care at customercare@amaxbrands.com.
