Boil-dry Switch-off
The steamer has an automatic switch-off feature to prevent boiling dry. If the water level is insufficient, the boil-dry switch-off will operate, turning off the heating element.
If this happens:
- Switch off and unplug the steamer from the mains power supply.
- Allow the steamer to cool for approximately 15 minutes.
- Using heat-resistant oven gloves, carefully disassemble the steamer.
- Refill the reservoir with boiling water, not exceeding the max. fill mark.
- Reassemble the steamer and reset the timer. The boil-dry switch-off should reset, and steaming can commence.
Note: Filling the reservoir to the max. fill mark helps prevent boiling dry. Always add boiling water to the reservoir before cooking. The timer may occasionally whir after counting down; this is normal as the steamer and heating element have turned off.

Instructions for Use
Before First Use
- Before connecting to the mains power supply, wipe the steamer base unit with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
- Clean the accessories (bowls, lid, rice bowl) in warm, soapy water, then rinse and dry thoroughly. Do not immerse the steamer base unit in water or any other liquid.
- Never use harsh or abrasive cleaning detergents or scourers, as this could cause damage.
- Place the steamer base unit onto a stable, heat-resistant surface at a height comfortable for the user.
Note: When using the steamer for the first time, a slight smoke or odour may be emitted. This is normal and will soon subside. Allow for sufficient ventilation around the steamer.
Using the 3-Tier Steamer
- Fill the reservoir with approximately 500 ml of boiling water, not exceeding the max. fill mark. This provides about 60 minutes of steaming.
- Position one steam basket onto the base unit.
- Place ingredients into the first steam basket.
- If more than one tier is required, place a mount over the first basket, then fit the second basket on top. Repeat for the third tier if needed.
- Fit the lid and secure it.
- Plug in and switch on the steamer at the mains power supply.
- Set the cooking time by rotating the timer control dial clockwise. The power indicator light will illuminate.
- When cooking is complete, the steamer will automatically turn off. Check food for thorough cooking. If not fully cooked, reset the timer. If cooked before the timer elapses, rotate the dial anticlockwise to '0'.
- Switch off and unplug the steamer from the mains power supply.
- [Caution] Carefully remove the lid using heat-resistant oven gloves, as it and the steam baskets will be very hot and steam may be emitted.
- Empty contents into a bowl or plate using heat-resistant tongs (not included). If multiple tiers were used, use oven gloves to remove baskets and mounts to access lower layers.
[Warning] Do not add anything to the water. Seasonings or marinades should be added directly to the food, as they can collect in the reservoir and cause damage.
Nominal voltage is present even when the thermostat is off. To permanently switch off, disconnect from the mains power supply.
Steaming for Longer than 60 Minutes
If steaming for longer than 60 minutes, monitor the water level. If it falls below halfway:
- Rotate the timer control dial to '0', noting the elapsed cooking time.
- Using heat-resistant oven gloves, remove the lid, baskets, and mounts to access the reservoir.
- Top-up the reservoir with boiling water to the max. fill mark.
- Carefully reassemble the steamer.
- Reset the timer to the remaining cooking time.
Cooking Guide
The following table provides a guideline for cooking certain ingredients in a single layer in the bottom steam basket. This is a guideline only; cooking should always be monitored.

- 2-3 steam baskets are used.
- Ingredients are layered within the same steam basket.

Cooking Rice
- When cooking rice, fill the rice bowl no more than half full with uncooked rice.
- Add water to the rice bowl; use slightly more water than rice, as the rice will absorb the water.
- Place the rice bowl on the top tier of the steamer. Do not use the bottom tier for rice, as juices from other foods may alter the flavour.
- Rice typically takes 25-30 minutes to cook, depending on the type and amount. Check after 20 minutes and continue cooking as needed.
Hints and Tips
- Chop ingredients to roughly the same size for even cooking.
- If steaming larger ingredients, place them in the lower steam basket, closest to the reservoir.
- Pack ingredients loosely in steam baskets, using single layers where possible, to allow steam to circulate.
- Have a plate or tray ready when disassembling the steamer after use, as baskets and the lid will drip.
Storage
Ensure the steamer is cool, clean, and dry before storing in a cool, dry place. Never wrap the cord tightly around the steamer; wrap it loosely to avoid causing damage.
Connection To The Mains
Please check that the voltage indicated on the product corresponds with your supply voltage.
Important - Plug Wiring
The wires in the mains lead are coloured as follows:
- Blue (Neutral, N): Connect to the terminal marked N or coloured BLACK.
- Brown (Live, L): Connect to the terminal marked L or coloured RED.
- Green/Yellow (Earth): Connect to the terminal marked E or with the earth symbol (⏚).
[Caution] On no account must the BROWN or BLUE wire be connected to the EARTH terminal.
Always ensure the cord grip is fastened correctly.
The plug must be fitted with a fuse of the same rating as the one already fitted and be ASTA approved (conforming to BS 1362). If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician.
Non-Rewireable Mains Plug
If your appliance has a non-rewireable plug, and the fuse needs replacing, use only an ASTA approved fuse of the same rating (conforming to BS 1362). If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician.
If you need to remove the plug, DISCONNECT IT FROM THE MAINS, cut it off the lead, and dispose of it safely. Never attempt to reuse the plug or insert it into another socket outlet, as this poses an electric shock risk.
