At a Glance
IBM Power Expert Care is a service approach integrating and prepackaging hardware and software support services into a tiered model. It now extends to the IBM Power E1050 technology-based server, offering a standardized and simplified support acquisition process.
Two service tier levels are available: Advanced and Premium. Each tier offers a group of selected hardware and software services, allowing clients to choose the tier that best fits their needs.
IBM Hardware Maintenance Services - Committed Maintenance
Committed maintenance enables hardware maintenance services as optional add-ons to Power Expert Care Advanced or Premium for the Power E1050. It helps reduce downtime costs by providing a committed timeframe for call back, onsite arrival, or repair. It also helps reduce revenue loss, repair costs, and loss of consumer confidence and shareholder trust by ensuring products are well-protected.
Overview
To easily procure critical services for maintaining systems and devices, Power Expert Care service tiers provide access to IT services that streamline procurement and contracting processes. Clients can select their chosen tier during the product purchase transaction.
Two Tiers of Power Expert Care:
Power Expert Care Advanced
Hardware maintenance support includes 24x7 coverage and same-day onsite repair.
- SWMA coverage is a prerequisite and must align with the selected years for the Power Expert Care Advanced tier.
- Predictive support, using Call Home Connect Cloud, is available for 24x7 coverage and response from remote technical support specialists.
Power Expert Care Premium
Hardware maintenance support includes 24x7 coverage and same-day onsite repair.
- SWMA coverage is a prerequisite and must align with the selected years for the Power Expert Care Premium tier.
- Predictive support, using Call Home Connect Cloud, is available for 24x7 coverage and response from remote technical support specialists.
- Enhanced response time is available: 30-minute response time for severity one and severity two problems.
- Access to Technical Account Manager: IBM provides a Technical Account Manager as a key interface for in-scope software, offering partnership, consultancy, and direct engagement on high-priority support cases.
- Code Load capability: Code Load allows system firmware and Hardware Management Console (HMC) updates for your Power10 system.
Key Requirements
- SWMA coverage is a prerequisite and must align with the selected years for either the Power Expert Care Advanced tier or the Power Expert Care Premium tier.

Statement of General Direction
IBM intends to provide Remote Control Load (RCL) capability in 4Q, 2022.
- RCL will enable clients to remotely upgrade code on their entitled Power products. It is an efficient and secure code delivery method, performable only on Hardware Management Console (HMC)-managed systems.
- Experienced IBM technical staff will oversee the RCL process end-to-end, eliminating the need for onsite service support representatives.
- RCL is available to IBM Power Expert Care Premium clients.
