GENERAL SAFETY RULES
⚠️ ADVERTENCIA: WHEN USING AN ELECTRIC VACUUM, BASIC PRECAUTIONS MUST ALWAYS BE FOLLOWED. BEFORE USING THE VACUUM, READ THIS OPERATOR'S MANUAL, AND ALL LABELS ON THE VACUUM. FAILURE TO HEED THE WARNINGS AND INSTRUCTIONS COULD RESULT IN ELECTRIC SHOCK, FIRE, OR SERIOUS INJURY.
WORK AREA SAFETY
- Keep the work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas are prone to accidents.
- Vacuums have motors and other parts that can produce sparks during normal use. Do not use the vacuum within 30 feet (9 meters) of areas where flammable materials may be present (such as gasoline pumps and areas where liquids are stored, like solvents, cleaners, solvents, etc.).
- Do not use in areas where there are explosive dusts, liquids, or vapors.
- Do not use where oxygen or anesthetics are used.
- Do not allow it to be used as a toy. Close attention must be paid when the vacuum is used in the vicinity of children.
- Use extra care when using the vacuum on stairs.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
- Do not handle the batteries or vacuum with wet hands.
PERSONAL SAFETY
- BE ALERT. Pay attention to what you are doing and use common sense. Do not use the vacuum when you are tired, distracted, or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication that may impair your ability to control it.
- While the vacuum is operating, it may expel foreign objects that can enter your eyes and cause eye injury. Always wear safety glasses or goggles with side protection when operating a vacuum.
- Use a face mask or use a dust extraction solution that complies with OSHA requirements when working in dusty conditions. Dust particles can damage your lungs.
- Avoid accidental starts. Make sure the switch is in the OFF position before inserting batteries. Inserting batteries into the vacuum with the switch in the ON position promotes accidents.
GENERAL SAFETY RULES (Continued)
- Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This allows for better control of the vacuum in unexpected situations.
- Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of the body away from openings and moving parts.
- Use only as described in this manual. Use only attachments recommended by the manufacturer.
- Avoid accidental product activation. Ensure the switch is in the OFF position before connecting the unit to the power source or batteries, and before picking up or carrying it. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energizing power tools that have the switch ON invites accidents.
VACUUM USE AND CARE
- Do not operate the vacuum without the dust container and/or filter in place.
- Do not use to vacuum liquids or flammable fuels, such as gasoline. Do not use in areas where these liquids may be present.
- Do not vacuum anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
- Do not vacuum soot, cement, plaster, or drywall dust without the filter in place. These are very fine particles that can affect motor performance or be expelled into the air.
- This product is suitable for collecting silica dust when used according to these instructions. To reduce the risk of health hazards from inhalation of other vapors or dust, do not vacuum toxic, carcinogenic, or other hazardous substances, such as asbestos, arsenic, barium, beryllium, lead, pesticides, or other substances that pose a risk to your health.
- Use special care when emptying heavily loaded tanks.
- To prevent spontaneous combustion, empty the dust container after each use.
- Do not leave the vacuum unattended when batteries are installed. Remove batteries when the unit is not in use and before performing maintenance.
- Disconnect batteries from the unit before making adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the unit. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of the unit being accidentally started.
- Do not place any object in the openings. Do not use with a blocked opening; keep it free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air circulation.
- Vacuum maintenance. Check for any misalignment, binding of moving parts, or any other condition that may affect the vacuum's operation. If there is any damage, have the vacuum repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained tools.
BATTERY TOOL USE AND CARE
- Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery may create a fire hazard if used with another battery.
- Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other battery pack may create a risk of injury and fire.
- When the battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, such as paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, or other small metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
- Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact occurs, flush immediately with water. If the liquid contacts the eyes, seek additional medical attention. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.
- Do not use a battery pack or tool that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior resulting in fire, explosion, or risk of injury.
- Do not expose a battery pack or tool to fire or excessive heat. Exposure to fire or temperatures above 130°C (265°F) may cause an explosion.
- Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the battery pack or tool outside the temperature range specified in the instructions. Improper charging or charging outside the specified range may damage the battery pack and increase the risk of fire.
MAINTENANCE
- Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
- Do not modify or attempt to repair the appliance or battery pack (as applicable) except as indicated in the instructions for use and care.
SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES FOR WET/DRY VACUUM
- Never operate the vacuum if the tank and/or filters are not properly installed.
- Wear hearing protection. Exposure to noise can cause hearing loss.
GENERAL SAFETY RULES (Continued)
⚠️ WARNING: To reduce the risk of injury, when performing work in situations where dust is present, use adequate respiratory protection or use a dust extraction solution that complies with OSHA requirements.

❗ ATTENTION: If the float is clean, moves freely, and suction does not shut off when the tank is full, contact a MILWAUKEE service facility for repairs. Tool malfunction can cause personal injury or property damage.
Wet Pickup Operation
For wet pickup operation, using the foam filter (single pack, Cat. No. 49-90-2015) is recommended.
- Remove the batteries.
- Remove ALL debris and trash found in the tank.
- Remove the high-efficiency filter and install the foam filter (refer to the "Filter Removal / Installation" section). Ensure the float cage remains in place.
A floating cage deactivates suction when the tank is full. Ensure the float is clean and moves freely in the cage to verify the float valve is functioning.
- Insert the batteries.
- Turn on the vacuum and begin vacuuming.
- Turn off the vacuum immediately after finishing a wet material vacuuming job or when the tank is full and ready to be emptied. If suction shuts off, turn off the vacuum immediately and empty the tank.
- Remove the batteries.
- To empty the tank, lift the drain hose to drain any excess liquid remaining in the tank. Do not use the vacuum inlet to drain liquid from inside the vacuum.
- Remove the motor housing and empty the liquid debris into an appropriate drain.
- Periodically clean the inside of the tank and vacuum accessories; more frequently when used for vacuuming wet and sticky materials. Use warm, soapy water. Do not store the vacuum if there is still liquid inside.
Automatic Suction Shut-off
When vacuuming liquids, an internal float rises until it seats against a seal in the motor inlet, shutting off suction. When this occurs, the motor will make a higher-pitched noise than normal, and suction will be drastically reduced. If this happens, turn off the vacuum immediately. Failing to turn off the unit after the float rises and suction shuts off will cause damage to the motor.
❗ NOTE: To continue using, empty the liquid debris from the tank.
If the vacuum is accidentally tilted, it may lose suction. Turn off the vacuum and return it to an upright position. The float will return to its normal position.
Wool Dust Bag Installation / Removal
For longer filter life and easier cleaning, use a wool dust bag to pick up fine dust particles (individual pack, Cat. No. 49-90-1979).
- To install, release the tank latches and remove the motor housing.
- Lift the dust bag holder and slide it out to remove it from the tank.
- Slide the cardboard dust bag inlet into the dust bag holder.
- Replace the dust bag holder into the slot by pushing it down to secure it in place.
- Extend the dust bag into the tank. Replace the motor housing and secure both latches.
- To remove, open the tank latches and remove the motor housing.
- Lift the dust bag holder and slide it out to remove it from the tank.
- Slide the dust bag holder out of the bag.
- Pull the cardboard tab until the dust bag inlet is closed. The dust bag is now sealed and can be disposed of properly.
Replace the wool dust bag when it is completely full, suction power decreases, or the dust bag is damaged.
MAINTENANCE
⚠️ WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury and damage, never immerse the tool, batteries, or charger in liquid or allow liquid to filter into them.
Cleaning
Clean dust and dirt from any vents. Keep the tool clean, dry, and free of oil or grease. Use only mild soap and a damp cloth for cleaning, as some cleaning substances and solvents are harmful to plastics and insulating parts. Some of these include: gasoline, turpentine, thinners, lacquers, paint thinners, chlorinated cleaning solvents, ammonia, and household detergents containing ammonia. Never use flammable or combustible solvents near a tool.
Storage
Before storing the vacuum, empty and clean the tank, filter, and accessories. Remove the batteries.
Repairs
If your tool, batteries, or charger are damaged, send it to the nearest authorized service center.
⚠️ WARNING: To reduce the risk of injury, always disconnect the charger and remove batteries from the charger or tool before performing any maintenance. Never disassemble the tool or attempt to make modifications to its electrical system. Always go to a MILWAUKEE Service Center for ALL repairs.
Never use the vacuum if the tank and/or filters are not properly installed.
Filter Maintenance
Keep the filter clean. To clean the filter, turn the filter cap counterclockwise to release it from the motor housing / float cage. Pull the filter to separate it from the vacuum. To empty debris, hold it away from the user's face and tap it to clean. The filter can be washed with water. If washing high-efficiency filters with water, allow the filter to dry for 24 hours before using it with the vacuum. Replace the filter if it is damaged or if there is a reduction in suction power (high-efficiency filter single pack, Cat. No. 49-90-1977, 49-90-1978 or foam filter single pack, Cat. No. 49-90-1990).
Tool Maintenance
Keep your tool, batteries, and charger in good condition by adopting a periodic maintenance program. Inspect the tool for problems such as unusual noises, misalignment or binding of moving parts, broken parts, or any other condition that may affect the tool's operation. Send your tool to a MILWAUKEE Service Center for repair. After 6 months to a year, depending on usage, send your tool to the nearest MILWAUKEE Service Center for inspection. If the tool does not start or operate at maximum power with two fully charged batteries, clean the battery contacts. If the tool continues to malfunction, return it along with the charger and batteries to a MILWAUKEE service center for repair.
