Installation Instructions:

  1. Remove items from packaging. Check to see if all parts from the above table of contents are included.
  2. With a T20 Torx driver, remove and keep the four screws holding the 3rd brake light.
(Figure 1: Shows the removal of the third brake light using a T20 Torx driver, indicating the four screws holding it in place.)
  3. Remove the 3rd brake light by pulling outwards from the bottom of the light and removing the bulbs from the light.
(Figure 2: Illustrates pulling the third brake light outwards from the bottom to disconnect it from the vehicle.)
  4. Install the gasket onto the side of the bracket that will be facing into the truck.
(Figure 3: Depicts installing a gasket onto the side of the mounting bracket that will face into the truck.)
  5. (Note for 24" Hornet light: If you have purchased a 24” Hornet light, at this point proceed to the other set of instructions included.)
  6. Install the Hornet light onto the mounting bracket using the 10-32 nuts and bolts. This will require the 1/8" Allen and the 3/8" wrench.
(Figure 4: Shows the Hornet light being installed onto the mounting bracket using 10-32 nuts and bolts, requiring an 1/8" Allen wrench and a 3/8" wrench.)
  7. Cut a small slot in the gasket to allow the wire to feed through. Holding the light up to the bracket will give a good idea where to cut the slot to avoid pinching the wire.
(Figure 5: Illustrates cutting a small slot in the gasket to allow the wire to feed through, suggesting holding the light against the bracket to determine the correct slot location to avoid pinching the wire.)
  8. Route the Hornet wire through the third brake light towards the cab and pull the third brake light bulbs through the bracket.
(Figure 6: Shows the Hornet wire being routed through the third brake light housing towards the vehicle's cab, with the brake light bulbs also being pulled through the bracket.)
  9. Insert the bulbs back into the third brake light and proceed to mount both the bracket and brake light to the cab.
(Figure 7 (Page 2): Depicts mounting the bracket and brake light assembly to the vehicle's cab.)
  10. To wire switches properly, refer to the wiring diagram.

Wiring Diagram and Functionality

(Figure 7 (Page 3): A wiring diagram showing a switch with three posts labeled 'Ground (Gold post on switch)', '+12V From Battery', and 'Acc. Red Wire from Hornet'.)

Switch Functionality: When the switch is configured correctly, it should function as follows: The primary switch, or the switch hooked up to the red wire, controls power to the Hornet light. This switch will turn the light on and off. To switch modes, the primary switch must be in the ON position. While the Hornet light is receiving power via the red wire, give 12V power to the yellow wire. If it does not change modes, check to make sure that the light is receiving power from the primary switch. The light will remember the mode even with the switch turned off.
