Press the light up goggles button and scoop water onto the submarine for fun bathtime play! The water pump continuously pours water out of the moveable periscope! NOTE: Please keep this parent's guide as it contains important information. Please do not aim the periscope towards faces. PACKAGING LOCK REMOVAL Rotate the packaging locks 90 degrees anticlockwise. Pull out the packaging locks. GETTING STARTED BATTERY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION 1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF. 2. Locate the battery cover on the back of the submarine. Use a coin or a screwdriver to loosen the screw. 333 3. If used or spent batteries are present, remove these batteries from the unit by pulling up on one end of each battery. 4. Install 3 new AA batteries following the diagram inside the battery box. (The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance). 5. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure. 6. When closing the battery cover ensure that the screws are securely tightened. This will avoid any water leakage. BATTERY NOTICE · Use new alkaline batteries or fully charged NI-MH (Nickel Metalhydride) rechargeable batteries for best performance. · Use only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended. · Do not mix different types of batteries: alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (Ni-Cd, Ni-MH), or new and used batteries. · Do not use damaged batteries. · Insert batteries with the correct polarity. · Do not short-circuit the battery terminals. · Remove exhausted batteries from the toy. · Remove batteries during long periods of non-use. · Do not dispose of batteries in fire. · Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries. · Remove rechargeable batteries from the toy before charging (if removable). · Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision. 444 Disposal of batteries and product The crossed-out wheelie bin symbols on products and batteries, or on their respective packaging, indicates they must not be disposed of in domestic waste as they contain substances that can be damaging to the environment and human health. To turn the submarine OFF ( ), press the ON/OFF BUTTON a second time. 2. AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF To preserve battery life, the VTech® Splashtime Submarine will automatically power down after approximately 35 seconds without input. The submarine can be turned on again by pressing the LIGHT UP GOGGLES BUTTON. 555 NOTE: If the submarine powers down quickly, we suggest installing brand new batteries. WARNINGS: · The batteries must be changed by an adult. · This toy cannot be used in salt water. · After using this toy, do not leave it in the water for a long time. · Make sure to empty the water out of all elements of the toy and to rinse them out before drying. · This toy can be operated in water only when fully assembled in accordance with the instructions. · This is not a lifesaving device. Toddlers have very sensitive skin and can easily get burnt if the water is too hot. · When closing the battery cover ensure that the screw is securely tightened. This will avoid any water leakage. · Only use this unit in water between 10 and 45 degrees centigrade. · Parents should drain the water from the speaker if the volume decreases too much. 666 ACTIVITIES 1. Press the ON/OFF BUTTON to turn the submarine ON. You will hear a sound, a phrase and a song. The light will flash with the responses. 2. Press the LIGHT UP GOGGLES BUTTON to hear fun phrases and songs. When the water pump is in the water, you will see water come out from the periscope. The light will flash with the responses. 3. Use the Boat Scoop to pour water on the gears, starfish and two water entry holes for fun water play. 4. The periscope can be turned in different directions to pour water on the gears and on the starfish. 777 5. If there is no input after approximately 15 seconds, encouraging phrases will be played. If there is still no input after another 15 seconds, the submarine will play a short tune and enter sleep mode. The submarine can be turned on again by pressing the LIGHT UP GOGGLES BUTTON. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat source. 3. Remove the batteries when the unit will not be in use for an extended period of time. 4. Make sure you empty the water out of all the elements of the unit and rinse thoroughly before drying, so sediment or cleaning products are not left on the unit. 5. Make sure to dry all of the elements of the unit before storing. 6. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces. TROUBLESHOOTING If for some reason the unit stops working or malfunctions, please follow these steps: 1. Please turn the unit OFF. 2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries. 3. Let the unit sit for a few minutes, then replace the batteries. 4. Turn the unit ON. The unit should now be ready to play with again. 999 5.
