Setting up your speakerphone

  1. Gently unwind the cable from the cable holder on the back of the speakerphone.
  2. Dislodge the USB-A connector from the adapter as required. A caution is noted against bending the cable at a sharp angle, which could cause damage.
  3. Connect the cable to a USB-A port or USB-C port on your computer. Visuals illustrate connecting to both USB-A and USB-C ports.

Setting up your speakerphone with a monitor

Connect the speakerphone cable to the USB-A port or USB-C port on your monitor.

  1. Connect to the USB-A port of the Dell monitor.
  2. Connect to the USB-C port of the Dell monitor.

Note: If the speakerphone is not detected, check if the upstream cable is connected from your computer to the Dell monitor.

Set your speakerphone as default sound device in Windows 10/11

Follow these steps to set the speakerphone as the default sound device:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Go to System > Sound.
  3. On the right pane, select the desired device from the drop-down list for both output and input devices.

a. Set output device: Select 'Echo Cancelling Speakerphone (Dell Speakerphone SP3022)' under Output.

b. Set input device: Select 'Echo Cancelling Speakerphone (Dell Speakerphone SP3022)' under Input.

Alternative method:

  1. Click the sound volume icon in the system tray.
  2. Click the up arrow next to the current audio device.
  3. Choose 'Echo Cancelling Speakerphone (Dell Speakerphone SP3022)' from the list.

To open the classic Sound options in Windows 10:

  1. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
  2. Type or paste Mmsys.cpl and press Enter.
  3. In the Sound applet, select the desired device and click 'Set Default'.

Problems and Possible Solutions

Problems Possible solutions
Audio performance issues Check and update system BIOS and audio driver for the latest version. Update system BIOS and drivers from www.dell.com/support/drivers. Update Dell Speakerphone SP3022 firmware from www.dell.com/support/drivers. Firmware updates are only possible on Windows 10/11 64-Bit OS. Ensure the Dell Speakerphone SP3022 is connected to the computer before updating firmware.
SP3022's buttons don't respond while making a call via conferencing applications other than Teams. For applications other than Teams, it is recommended to use the in-app controls rather than the speakerphone buttons. Refer to the button behavior table on page 17.
Answer call button doesn't work when receiving calls from Teams This may occur when multiple conferencing applications are active simultaneously. It is recommended to use in-app controls rather than the speakerphone buttons.
The Echo can be heard during the call The SP3022 has an echo cancellation feature. If echo is heard, the other user may not have echo cancellation enabled.
No audio Disconnect and reconnect the Dell Speakerphone SP3022. Check computer sound settings and select the speakerphone as the playback device. Adjust volume settings.
Microphone doesn't work Disconnect and reconnect the Dell Speakerphone SP3022. Check computer sound settings and select the speakerphone as the recording device.
Can't make a phone call or pick up an incoming call using device buttons via Line, WhatsApp, and WeChat? The Answer Call button is functional on Teams. For unsupported apps, use in-app controls instead of the speakerphone buttons.
Abnormal sound To set up PC for abnormal sound:
  1. Right-click the sound icon and select 'Sounds'.
  2. In the Playback tab, right-click the speakerphone icon and select 'Properties'.
  3. In the Advanced tab, uncheck 'Enable audio enhancements'.
  4. In the Recording tab, right-click the speakerphone icon and select 'Properties'.
  5. In the Advanced tab, uncheck 'Enable audio enhancements'.
Volume is too low: Remove obstructions between the SP3022 and the user. Increase volume using the volume up button or software UI. Press the volume setting on Windows to increase volume.
