Getting Started - MX Mechanical Mini

DETAILED SETUP

  1. Make sure the keyboard is turned-on.

The channel 1 key on the keyboard should be blinking fast. If not, perform a long press (3 seconds) on the F1, F2, or F3 keys to select a channel.

  2. Choose how you want to connect:

    • Use the included wireless receiver
Plug the receiver into a USB port on your computer.

    • Connect directly using Bluetooth
Open the Bluetooth settings on your computer to complete the pairing.

For more details on how to do this on your computer, visit the Logitech support page. If you experience issues with Bluetooth, refer to the Bluetooth troubleshooting section on the Logitech support page.

  3. Install Logitech Options+ Software

Download Logitech Options+ to use all the possibilities this keyboard has to offer. To download and learn more about the possibilities, visit logitech.com/optionsplus.

The software is compatible with Windows and Mac.

PAIR TO A SECOND COMPUTER WITH EASY-SWITCH

Your keyboard can be paired with up to three different computers using the Easy-Switch button to change the channel.

  1. Select the channel you want and press and hold the Easy-Switch button for 3 seconds. This will put the keyboard in discoverable mode so that it can be seen by your computer. The LED will start blinking fast.

  2. Choose between two ways to connect your keyboard to your computer:

    • Bluetooth: Open the Bluetooth settings on your computer to complete the pairing. More details can be found on the Logitech support page.

    • USB receiver: Plug the receiver into a USB port, open Logitech Options, and select: Add devices > Setup Unifying device, and follow the instructions.

  3. Once paired, a short press on the Easy-Switch button will allow you to switch channels.

Product Overview

The MX Mechanical Mini keyboard features:

  • Easy-Switch keys (1): For switching between paired devices.
  • ON/OFF switch (2): To power the keyboard on or off.
  • Battery status LED and ambient light sensor (3): Indicates battery level and adjusts backlighting.
  • PC layout (4): Standard key layout for Windows, Linux, and Android.
  • Mac layout (5): Standard key layout for macOS and iOS.

Multi-OS keyboard

Your keyboard is compatible with multiple operating systems (OS): Windows 10 or later, macOS 10.15 or later, iOS 14 or later, iPadOS 14 or later, Linux, ChromeOS, and Android 8 or later.

If you are a Windows, Linux, and Android user, your special characters will be on the right side of the key (e.g., Alt Gr).

If you are a macOS or iOS user, your characters and special keys will be on the left side of the keys (e.g., Option, Command).

Battery Notification

Your keyboard will let you know when its battery is running low. From 100% to 11% charge, your LED will be green. From 10% and below, the LED will be red. You can continue typing for more than 500 hours without backlighting in a low battery.

To charge your keyboard, plug the USB-C cable into the top right corner. You can continue typing while it is charging.

NOTE: The cable is for charging purposes only.

Smart backlighting

Your keyboard has an embedded ambient light sensor that reads and adapts the level of backlighting accordingly.

Vertical light reading under specific conditionsBacklight level
Low light - under 100 luxL2 - 25%
Mid light - between 100 and 200 luxL4 - 50%
High light - over 200 luxL0 - no backlight*
Backlight is turned OFF.

Total backlight levels: eight.

You can change the backlight levels at any time. There are two exceptions – the backlight cannot be turned ON when:

  • the room brightness is high
  • when keyboard battery is low

Change backlighting effect

MX Mechanical has six different backlighting effects. By default, the behavior is static. To swap, you can press Fn + the lightbulb key on your keyboard or change it using the Logi Options+ software.

Software notifications

Install the software Logitech Options+ to get the most out of your keyboard. You can find more information here.

Backlight level notifications

The keyboard provides visual notifications for backlight levels. Examples include:

  • A bright icon indicating backlighting is enabled.
  • A medium icon indicating backlighting is at a medium level.
  • A low icon indicating backlighting is at a low level.

Change the backlight level and you'll know in real time what level you have.

Backlighting disabled

There are two factors that will disable backlighting:

  • Low battery: When your keyboard has only 10% of battery left, attempting to enable backlighting will display a message. To re-enable backlight, plug your keyboard in to charge.
  • Bright environment: When the environment around you is too bright, your keyboard will automatically disable backlighting to conserve battery. This also allows you to use it longer with backlight in low light conditions. You will see a notification when you try to turn backlighting ON.

F-keys switch

When you press Fn + Esc, you swap between Media keys and F-Keys. A notification will appear to indicate the switch.

  • An icon showing 'fn' and a musical note indicates Media Keys are enabled.
  • An icon showing 'fn' and a lock indicates F-Keys are enabled.
NOTE: By default, the keyboard has direct access to Media Keys.

Logitech Flow

You can work on multiple computers with your MX Mechanical. With a Flow-enabled Logitech mouse, such as the MX Master 3S, you can work and type on multiple computers with the same mouse and keyboard using Logitech Flow technology.

You can use the mouse cursor to move from one computer to the next. The MX Mechanical will follow the mouse and switch computers at the same time. You can even copy and paste between computers. You will need to install Logitech Options+ software on both computers and follow these instructions.

You can check for other Flow-enabled mice here.

Visual description of Logitech Flow: A diagram shows two computer screens side-by-side. On the left screen, a text editor shows "CMD+C Project-7". On the right screen, a text editor shows "CTRL+V Project-7". This illustrates the ability to copy content from one computer and paste it onto another using Logitech Flow.
