Panel Mounting
For programmable controllers that can be panel-mounted, to meet the UL Haz Loc standard, panel-mount the device on the flat surface of Type 1 or Type 4X enclosures.
Panel Mounting Procedure:
- Prepare a panel cut-out according to the dimensions shown in the Mechanical Dimensions section.
- Slide the controller into the cut-out, ensuring the Panel Mounting Seal is in place.
- Push the mounting brackets into their slots on the sides of the panel.
- Tighten the bracket screws against the panel, holding the brackets securely. The required torque is 0.35 N·m (3.1 in-lb).
Caution: Do not apply torque exceeding 0.35 N·m (3.1 in-lb) when tightening bracket screws, as excessive force can damage the product.
Communication and Removable Memory Storage
When products include USB communication ports or SD card slots, neither the SD card slot nor the USB port are intended for permanent connection. The USB port is intended for programming only.
Battery: Back-up, First Use, Installation, and Replacement
Back-up: The battery must be connected to preserve back-up values for RTC and system data during power outages.
First Use: The battery is protected by a removable cover. It is supplied installed with a plastic tab preventing contact, which must be removed by the user.
Battery Installation and Replacement:
- Use proper precautions to prevent Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) while servicing the battery.
- To preserve back-up values, the controller must remain powered during battery replacement. Disconnecting the battery halts back-up preservation and deletes stored values.
Procedure:
- Remove the battery cover by pressing the tab to disengage it and sliding it up.
- If replacing the battery, remove the old battery from its slot.
- Insert the new battery, ensuring correct polarity alignment.
- Replace the battery cover.
- Dispose of the used battery according to local and national standards and regulations.

Wiring
General Wiring Precautions:
- Operate equipment only in SELV/PELV/Class 2/Limited Power environments.
- All power supplies must include double insulation and be rated appropriately.
- Do not connect 110/220VAC 'Neutral' or 'Line' signals to the device's 0V point.
- Do not touch live wires.
- Perform all wiring activities with power OFF.
- Use over-current protection (fuse or circuit breaker) for the power supply connection.
- Unused points should not be connected unless specified, as this may damage the device.
- Double-check all wiring before powering on.
Caution: Use a maximum torque of 0.5 N·m (4.4 in-lb) for wires. Do not use tin, solder, or other substances that could break wire strands. Wire and cable must have a minimum 75°C temperature rating. Install away from high-voltage cables and power equipment.
Wiring Procedure: Use crimp terminals for wiring (26-12 AWG wire). Strip wire to 7±0.5mm, unscrew terminal, insert wire fully, and tighten securely.
Wiring Guidelines: Use a metal cabinet, ensure it is properly earthed. Use properly sized wires. Use shielded twisted pair cables for High Speed and Analog I/O signals, do not use the shield as a common return path. Route each I/O signal with its own common wire, connecting common wires at their respective CM points. Individually connect 0V and CM points to the power supply 0V terminal. Connect functional ground points to system earth (preferably metal chassis). Use shortest, thickest wires possible (<1m, min 14 AWG). Connect power supply 0V to system earth.
Earthing Cable Shields: Connect the cable shield to system earth (preferably metal chassis) at one end only (PLC-side recommended). Keep shield connections short and ensure continuity.
Wiring the Power Supply: The controller requires an external power supply. Connect the +V and 0V terminals as shown in diagrams.
Connecting Ports:
- Ethernet: CAT-5e shielded cable with RJ45 connector.
- USB Device: Standard USB cable with Mini-B USB plug (USB-C in US15).
- USB Host: Standard USB device with Type-A plug.
- Audio-Out (Pro models only): 3.5mm stereo audio plug with shielded audio cable (up to 3m). Pinout: 1-Left Out, 2-Right Out, 3-Ground, 4-Do not connect.
I/O Connection Points: IOs are arranged in two groups of fifteen points. Diagrams show top (Input) and bottom (Output) groups for different model series.
Wiring the Digital Inputs: All 10 digital inputs share common point CM0. Inputs can be wired as sink or source. Diagrams illustrate sink and source wiring.
Wiring the Analog Inputs: Inputs share common point CM1. Inputs are not isolated and support voltage or current modes, configurable via software. Diagrams show configurations for Voltage (Differential, Single-ended, 2-wire, 3-wire, 4-wire) and Current.
Wiring the Relay Outputs (USx-xx-TR22): Outputs O0-O3 share CM2, O4-O7 share CM3. Use current limiting devices. Diagrams show DC and AC load connections with clamping diodes/RC snubbers.
Wiring the Sink Transistor Outputs (US5-xx-TR22, US7-xx-TR22, US10-xx-TR22): Outputs O8 and O9 are not short-circuit protected; use current limiting devices. They can be normal digital or high-speed PWM outputs, sharing common point CM4. Diagrams show Normal Transistor Output and High Speed PWM Output.
Wiring the Source Transistor Outputs (US5-xx-T24, US7-xx-T24, US10-xx-T24): Requires external 24VDC power supply. Outputs O0-O11 share common return 0VO. Diagrams show output connections.

Notes
- HMI panel backlight longevity is the typical operating time until brightness drops to 50% of its original level.
- UAG-CX Expansion Adapter Kits include a Base unit, End unit, and connecting cable. Connect the Base Unit to the controller's I/O Expansion Jack and then to UniStream Uni-I/O™ modules. Refer to product installation guides for details.
- Uni-COM™ CX modules connect directly to the Uni-COM™ CX Module Jack on the controller's back. UAC-CX modules can be installed in specific configurations: a serial module can be followed by another serial module (max 2 total); a CANbus module must be directly attached and can be followed by up to two serial modules (max 3 total). Refer to product installation guides for details.
- When replacing the unit's battery, ensure the new battery has similar or better environmental specifications than the original.
- The USB device port is used to connect the device to a PC.
- The 4-20mA input option is implemented using the 0-20mA input range.
- Analog inputs measure values slightly higher than the nominal input range (Input Over-range). An overflow condition indicates the input value is registered as the maximum permissible value (e.g., 10.15V for a 0-10V range), with an Overflow system tag turned on.
- Diagnostic results are indicated in system tags and can be observed via UniApps™ or UniLogic™.
- Step response and update time are independent of the number of channels used.
- Relay contact life expectancy depends on the application. Installation guides provide procedures for use with long cables or inductive loads.
- Outputs O0 and O1 can be configured as normal digital outputs or PWM outputs. PWM output specifications apply only when outputs are configured as PWM.
