Product Overview

The SkyCaddie LX5 features a touch screen interface. Key components include:

  • Front View: SLEEP/POWER ON/OFF button, MENU button. The screen can be woken by double-tapping.
  • Back View: Heart Rate Monitor, ESN (Electronic Serial Number), Charging Port. Regulatory markings (FC, CE) are also present.

Your SkyCaddie LX5 includes over 35,000 preloaded, verified golf course maps for accurate yardages. A 30-day trial begins with your first round. After the trial, course data access requires registration for a plan offering limited or full course information and cloud storage. Extended Warranty

How To Turn On/Off Your SkyCaddie LX5

To Turn On/Off: Press and hold the top button. Alternatively, navigate to MENU > TURN OFF and confirm.

To Wake Screen: Press the top right button or double-tap the screen. Auto Dim settings can be adjusted in MENU > SETTINGS > SYSTEM > AUTO DIM.

Clean The Charging Port On Your SkyCaddie LX5

Ensure the charging port and magnetic connector are clean and dry. For tarnish or grime on gold contacts, use a cotton Q-tip moistened with isopropyl alcohol. Gently scrub only the contact points. Ensure swabs are no longer picking up debris and contacts are shiny.

Activating & Registering Your SkyCaddie LX5

Activation can be completed via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or USB.

Via Wi-Fi (Preferred Method)

  1. Go to www.MySkyCaddie.com and select "Activate a product".
  2. Enter the access code found in MENU > INFO > ACCESS CODE on your LX5.
  3. Submit the code on the webpage and follow onscreen instructions.
  4. Sync your LX5 via Wi-Fi.

Via Bluetooth® on your smart device

  1. Download the SkyGolf 360™ Mobile App from the Google Play™ or Apple® App StoreSM.
  2. Log in or create a SkyGolf account.
  3. Bluetooth Pairing: Navigate to MENU > SETTINGS > BLUETOOTH > SYNC NOW on your LX5. The device will enter "Pair Ready" mode. In the SkyGolf 360 app, press the SYNC icon and follow instructions to complete pairing.

Via CaddieSync® Express on your computer with USB

  1. On your LX5, go to MENU > SYNC > USB.
  2. On your computer, visit www.skygolf.com and follow the directions.
  3. Enter your ESN (Electronic Serial Number) or select CODE to display your 8-character Access Code.
  4. Log in or create a SkyGolf account to complete activation.
  5. Follow onscreen prompts for registration and activation.

Connecting to WiFi

Connect to Wi-Fi for activating your LX5, syncing scores, and updating courses.

  1. On your LX5, go to MENU > SYNC.
  2. Choose Wi-Fi.
  3. Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
  4. Press back to return to the SYNC page.
  5. Press sync; updates will proceed automatically.

Charging Your SkyCaddie LX5

Fully charge your LX5 before first use. Ensure charging contacts are clean and dry. Use the provided magnetic clip/USB cable. Align the magnetic clip on the back of the LX5 and insert the USB plug into a USB port. The "CHARGE" screen will display, and 100% indicates a full charge.

Navigation

The SkyCaddie LX5 features a touch screen. You can navigate by tapping, dragging, and sliding gestures.

Menus & Playing Golf

Time

Displays the watch face and time. You can change the watch face by pressing and holding the screen and swiping left or right. To set the time, go to MENU > SETTINGS > TIME > SET TIME, and adjust GMT, time zone, time, and date as needed.

Notifications & Fitness

  • Scroll right to view smartphone notifications.
  • Scroll left to access fitness tracking data (Steps, Miles, BPM) for today and yesterday.

Heart Rate Monitor

The Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) can be turned on or off. It is recommended to use it periodically and then turn it off to conserve battery life, as continuous use drains the battery faster. Note that the HRM may not function accurately on all skin tones.

Menus

Golf

Access options to resume or start a round, use the Demo course, view saved rounds, and adjust Golf Settings. Golf Settings include UNITS (yards/meters), TARGETS AT, GREEN AT, TEE GENDER, AUTO HOLE, SCORE PROMPT, SHOW OPTIONS, TRACK SHOTS, and DEFAULT VIEW (HoleVue or Front, Center, Back).

Sync

Choose Wi-Fi, USB, or Bluetooth sync. Syncing is required for activation, score synchronization to SkyGolf 360, membership renewal, and course updates.

Alarms

Set up to 10 alarms.

Stopwatch

Features a lap timer.

Timer

Set timers for up to 59 hours.

Settings

Access settings for TIME, FITNESS (units, step goals), BLUETOOTH (pairing), SYSTEM (auto dim, vibrate, language, diagnostics, reset), and INFO (access code, account details, versions, GPS information).

Turn Off

The device can be turned off from this menu.

Playing Golf with the LX5

Tip: Use the DEMO course in the GOLF MENU to familiarize yourself with the LX5's screens without needing a GPS signal. You can practice using icons, panning, zooming, and scoring.

A GPS signal is required for golf features. Ensure you are outdoors with a clear view of the sky. A fully charged battery is recommended as golf features consume more power.

Starting a New Round

  1. Press MENU until the list appears.
  2. Choose GOLF.
  3. Choose NEW ROUND.
  4. The LX5 will search for nearby courses.
  5. Select your desired course from the list.

Customizing Golf Settings

Access golf settings via MENU > GOLF > SETTINGS. Options include: UNITS (yards/meters), TARGETS AT, GREEN AT, TEE GENDER, AUTO HOLE, and DEFAULT VIEW.

Changing Golf Views

Navigate to Menu > Golf > Default View to switch between FCB (standard front/center/back display) and HoleVue (IntelliGreen map view).

The device displays different views like FCB (Front, Center, Back) and HoleVue (map view). Navigation between screens allows viewing distance, scores, and hole information.

Golf Screen Icons

Key icons and information displayed on the golf screen include:

  • Target Cursor: Movable cursor on the fairway.
  • Range Rings: Visual indicators for distances.
  • Distances: Distance to the middle of the green from the fairway target, and distance to the fairway target.
  • Par of Hole: Indicates the par for the current hole.
  • Mark Distance: Allows marking a specific distance.
  • IntelliGreen: Provides detailed green information.
  • Navigation: Controls for moving between screens.
  • Zoom: Adjusts the map zoom level.

Zooming In & Out

Pan the fairway image or move the target cursor. Touch the (+) icon to zoom in and the (-) icon to zoom out.

Enhanced Big Numbers

Press on the fairway numbers to increase their size. Press again to reduce them. This feature also works with Range Rings.

Turning Range Rings On and Off

Press the target icon on the top left of the screen to toggle Range Rings on or off.

IntelliGreen Icons

The IntelliGreen feature provides detailed green information. Icons include:

  • IntelliGreen Cursor
  • Range Rings On/Off
  • Green Center distance
  • Switch to HoleVue
  • Back to Previous Screen
  • Mark Ball
  • Pro Front Mark

IntelliGreen Icon Menu

Use this menu to fine-tune the IntelliGreen cursor by tapping numbers to adjust its position. A CLOSE MENU option is also available.

Measure Any Shot Distance

On the HoleVue screen, press the "Golf Ball" icon, then press Mark to record the distance of your shot.

Scoring

The LX5 allows you to track and save scores for each hole, including total score, putts, GIR (Greens in Regulation), and fairway accuracy. Scores can be synced to SkyGolf 360.

Updating a Course with Wi-Fi

SkyGolf's course library is updated regularly. Update courses via Wi-Fi by selecting COURSES from the main menu, then searching for a course or updating the entire Map Pack.

Syncing Scores to SkyGolf 360

View scores at www.skygolf.com or via the SkyGolf 360 mobile app. Syncing can be done via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or USB connection.

Syncing to SkyGolf 360 on your LX5:

  1. Go to MENU > SYNC.
  2. Choose Wi-Fi.
  3. Select your network and enter the password.
  4. Press back to return to the SYNC page.
  5. Press sync to complete the process. Updates may require device restart.

Appendix A: Helpful Hints

  • Do not disconnect or turn off the LX5 during syncing. Wait for completion.
  • Turn on the LX5 outdoors with a clear sky view for GPS signals. Allow a 5-minute warm-up.
  • Avoid carrying the device in pockets or glove boxes.
  • For optimal accuracy, keep the LX5 on, upright, and with a clear sky view.
  • Do not turn the LX5 on/off frequently during play, as it is designed to stay on. For extended breaks, you may turn it off, but allow 5-10 minutes for GPS re-acquisition upon restart.
  • Fully charge the battery before each round.
  • Use only authorized USB cables.
  • Avoid exposing the LX5 to extreme temperatures or chemicals like DEET.
  • Sync regularly to maintain peak performance, receive updates, and upload scores.
  • The LX5 is water-resistant, but avoid excessive water exposure. Do not use external heat sources to dry if it gets wet.
  • Store the device in a dry environment, away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not fully charge for long-term storage.
  • Never attempt to repair the LX5 yourself, as this voids the warranty. Service should only be performed by authorized providers.
  • The battery is not user-replaceable.

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to two conditions: it must not cause harmful interference, and it must accept any received interference. User modifications without express approval from SkyHawke Technologies may void the user's authority to operate the device. This digital apparatus also complies with Canadian Class B limits for radio noise emissions.

Battery Information And Safety Requirements

Failure to comply with precautions may result in personal injury, property damage, or abnormal battery reactions (overheating, smoking, leaking, explosion, fire). It can also destroy internal protections and shorten battery life.

  • Use only a SkyGolf supplied USB cable.
  • Do not leave the LX5 attached to a charger or USB port for over 24 hours. A full recharge typically takes 1-2 hours.
  • Do not charge in extreme heat (direct sunlight, stove, fire).
  • Keep the LX5 away from high voltage or static discharge.
  • For long-term storage, charge the battery to approximately 50%.
  • Store the LX5 in a place with moderate temperatures and humidity (below 85%).
  • Do not put the LX5 in a microwave oven, crush it, or incinerate it.
  • Do not leave the LX5 submerged in water.
  • If the LX5 is overheating, leaking, smoking, or has an unusual odor, disconnect it immediately and avoid contact with any leaked materials. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
  • Opening the SkyCaddie will void your warranty.
