Vidami Blue: Studio One Mode, Functions, and DAW Settings Guide
This guide details how to use the Vidami Blue controller with PreSonus Studio One, covering mode switching, button functions, and essential DAW configuration for an optimized workflow.
Studio One Mode
To activate STUDIO ONE MODE on your Vidami Blue device:
- Place the Vidami Blue on a flat surface.
- Simultaneously HOLD the [Loop] and [Forward] buttons.
- While holding, TAP the [Back] button.
The blue LED indicator on the Vidami Blue will blink 3 times, confirming that the mode has been successfully changed.
The Vidami Blue device features the following buttons: Speed, Loop, Back, Play/Pause, and Forward.
Studio One Mode Functions
When in Studio One Mode, the Vidami Blue buttons perform the following actions:
- TAP [Speed]: Nudge the timeline back by 1 bar or another configured increment.
- HOLD [Speed]: Navigate to the previous marker in your project.
- TAP [Loop]: Nudge the timeline forward by 1 bar or another configured increment.
- HOLD [Loop]: Navigate to the next marker in your project.
- TAP [Forward]: Toggle the metronome (click) on or off.
- HOLD [Forward]: Create a duplicate of the selected track or region.
- TAP [Play/Pause]: Play or pause the audio playback.
- HOLD [Play/Pause]: Create a new marker at the current timeline position.
- TAP [Back]: Initiate recording (in/out).
- HOLD [Back]: Undo the last performed action.
Checking the Current Mode
To determine which mode your Vidami Blue is currently in:
- Open a blank document on your computer or iOS device and ensure the cursor is active within it.
- On the Vidami Blue, simultaneously HOLD the [Speed] and [Forward] buttons.
- While holding these buttons, TAP the [Play/Pause] button.
The blue LED will blink 3 times, and the name of the active mode will be printed directly onto your document.
Studio One DAW Settings & Keyboard Shortcut Setup
To optimize the functionality of your Vidami Blue with PreSonus Studio One, the following software settings are recommended:
Keyboard Shortcut Setup
Configure custom keyboard shortcuts within Studio One by following these steps:
- Navigate to the Studio One menu: Preferences > General > Keyboard Shortcuts.
- In the search bar provided, enter the term "Duplicate".
- Under the "Track" category, select the "Duplicate" command.
- Click within the "Enter Key:" input field on the right side of the window.
- On your Vidami Blue device, press and HOLD the [Forward] switch. This action will input the corresponding key command into the field.
- Click the "Assign" button to confirm the shortcut mapping.
- Click the "Apply" button at the bottom of the window to save this keyboard shortcut configuration.
Next, configure the "Forward Bar" shortcut:
- In the Keyboard Shortcuts search bar, enter "Forward Bar".
- Under the "Transport" category, select the "Forward Bar" command.
- Click within the "Enter Key:" input field.
- On your Vidami Blue device, TAP the [Loop] switch.
- Click the "Assign" button to confirm the command.
- Click the "Apply" button to save the shortcut.
Next, configure the "Rewind Bar" shortcut:
- In the Keyboard Shortcuts search bar, enter "Rewind Bar".
- Under the "Transport" category, select the "Rewind Bar" command.
- Click within the "Enter Key:" input field.
- On your Vidami Blue device, TAP the [Speed] switch.
- Click the "Assign" button to confirm the command.
- Click the "Apply" button to save the shortcut.
- Click "OK" to close the preferences window and save all changes.

Audio Input Follows Selection
Ensure your audio input settings are correctly configured:
- Navigate to the Studio One menu: Preferences > Advanced > Console.
- Locate and enable the option labeled "Audio Input Follows Selection".
- Click the "Apply" button, then click "OK" to save and close the preferences window.
