Hilti KB-TZ2 Anchor System
Installation Guide and Technical Specifications
Product Codes: KB-TZ2, KB-TZ2 SS304, KB-TZ2 SS316
Document Version: A1-05.2021
Installation Steps
The following diagrams illustrate the installation process for Hilti KB-TZ2 anchors.
Diagram 1: Hole Preparation
- 1a: Drilling with a Hollow Drill Bit (HDB) or Diamond Core Bit (DRS). Ensure the drill bit diameter (d₀) matches the anchor size and the hole is drilled at a 90° angle.
- 1b: Drilling with Dust Removal Systems (DRS) or a Diamond Core Bit (DRS). Similar to 1a, maintaining a 90° angle.
- 1c: Shows the TE-CD or TE-YD hammer drill with a specific drill bit (d₀) and the importance of a 90° angle.
- 1d: Illustrates drilling with a specific hole depth (h₁ = hnom) using a hammer drill and dust removal system, with a 90° angle. It also shows the use of compressed air (6 bar/90 psi) for cleaning.
Diagram 2: Anchor Installation
Insert the anchor into the prepared hole. Use a hammer to gently tap the anchor until it is flush with the base material. Ensure the anchor is properly seated.
Diagram 3: Tightening the Anchor
- 3a: Shows the anchor with the nut and washer in place, ready for tightening. The installation torque (Tinst) is indicated.
- 3b: Illustrates tightening the anchor using a torque wrench (SI AT-A22 or SIW 6AT-A22**).

Important Notes:
- Use only carbide-tipped masonry drill bits complying with ANSI B212.15.1994.
- For steps 1a or 1b, ensure the drill depth is sufficient to account for any debris remaining in the hole.
- The AT-System is not applicable for grout-filled CMU and wood fastening applications.
- For UL Listing, the 5/8" anchor is rated up to 10 kips at a minimum of 3-1/4" nominal embedment. UL Listing does not cover the 1¼" anchor size.
